고품질 3-Aminopropyltriethoxysilane 자기조립단분자막을 이용한 고전도도 Poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) 전극박막의 개발 (Development of Highly Conductive Poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) Thin Film using High Quality 3-Aminopropyltriethoxysilane Self-Assembled Monolayer)

  • Quality of PEDOT electrode thin film vapor phase-polymerized on 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APS) self-assembled monolayer (SAM) is very crucial for making an ohmic contact between electrode and semiconductor layer of an organic transistor. In order to improve the quality of PEDOT film, the quality of APS-SAM laying underneath the film must be in the best condition. In this study, in order to improve the quality of APS-SAM, the monolayer was self-assembled on $SiO_2$ surface by a dip-coating method under strictly controlled relative humidity (< 18%RH). The quality of APS-SAM and PEDOT thin film were investigated with a contact angle analyzer, AFM, FE-SEM, and four-point probe. The investigation showed that a PEDOT film grown on the humidity-controlled SAM is very smooth and compact (sheet resistivity = 20.2 Ohm/sq) while a film grown under the uncontrolled condition is nearly amorphous and contains quite many pores (sheet resistivity = 200 Ohm/sq). Therefore, this study clearly proves that a highly improved quality of APSSAM can offer a highly conductive PEDOT electrode thin film on it.

VALENCE BAND PHOTOEMISSION STUDY OF Fe OVERLAYERS ON Cr

  • Electronic structures of Fe overlayers on Cr(Fe/Cr) films, with an Fe coverage of $1-20{\AA}$, have been investigated by using photoemission spectroscopy. Experimental results are compared with supercell band structure calculations for a system with monolayer (ML) Fe on each side of five layer Cr, Fe(1ML)/Cr(5ML)/Fe(1ML). The extracted Fe 3d partial spectral weight in Fe/Cr exhibits very interesting features for very thin Fe overlayers. First, a sharp emissionnear the Fermi energy is observed, which is expected to originate primarily from hybridization between Fe and Cr 3d electrons at the Fe/Cr interface, and partially from the Fe 3d surface states in the Fe overlayer. Second, other structures are observed at higher binding energies which resemble the Cr 3d valence bands, also suggesting large hybridization between Fe and Cr 3d states at the Fe/Cr interface. These conjectures are confirmed by band structure calculations for Fe(1ML)/Cr(5ML)/Fe(1ML).

P(VDF-TrFE) LB박막의 구조특성 (Structural Properties of P(VDF-TrFE) LB Films)

  • We report the studies on the structrural properties of Langmuir Blodgett (LB) films fabricated from the copolymer of vinylidenefluoride (VDF) with trifluoroethylene(TrFE). The formation of nanomesas induced by thermal annealing at $135\;^{\circ}C$ for 1 hour was investigated with the atomic force microscope (AFM) and the X-ray diffractometer (XRD). From the result of surface morphology change in 30 monolayer LB film, we find that the annealing treatment on the P(VDF-TrFE) LB film result in the plastic deformation of crystalline polymer. The ${\beta}$ phase crytalline structure in annealed LB film was clearly confirmed from the XRD peak at $19.7^{\circ}$.

신기능성 LB 단분자막을 이용한 분자소자의 전기화학적 연구 (Electrochemical Study of Molecular Devices Using Functional LB Monomolecular Layer Compounds)

  • 산화주석전극 위에 LB 법에 의해 단분자층상으로 흡착된 양친매성 Os 착체의 전기화학적 거동을 살펴보았다. 또한 단분자막형태로 흡착된 redox 종의 전극반응의 이론식을 가역, 비가역, 준가역파에 대하여 검토하였고, 이들막이 진공증착된 $SnO_2$ 전극 위로 전이될 때, 그 전극에서 흐른 전체 전하를 cyclic voltammogram 의 그림적분법에 의해 구하였다. 그리고 이들 단분자막을 이용한 전자이동 중개반응의 응용면도 $Fe^{2+}$, TEMPOL 등을 이용해 해석하였다. 이들 측정된 cyclic voltammogram을 이론식으로부터 유도하여 분자들간의 상호작용 parameter를 고려해서 simultation 하였다. 이들로부터 구해진 parameter 들은 측정된 cyclic voltammogram 과 거의 일치함을 확인할수 있었다. 마지막으로 LB 법을 이용한 최근의 연구동향 및 응용분야를 소개하였다.

강유전성 고분자 P(VDF-TrFE) LB박막의 전기광학 특성 (The Electro-Optic Properties of Ferroelectric P(VDF-TrFE) LB Films)

  • Electro-optic modulators based on 25 monolayer langmuir-blodgett films of vinylidene fluoride and trifluoroethylene, P(VDF-TrFE), were fabricated. The LB films were prepared by transferring the monolayers on to an ITO coated glass with a surface pressure of 5 dyne/cm by use of the langmuir-schaefer deposition method. Measurement of the electro-optic coefficient has been carried out using a simple reflection techique. The E/O coefficient was found to be 154.9 pm/V and that value remained stable for at least 50 days.

Synthesis of Magnetic Nanoparticles of Fe3O4 and CoFe2O4 and Their Surface Modification by Surfactant Adsorption

  • $Fe_3O_4$ and $CoFe_2O_4$ magnetic nanoparticles have been synthesized successfully in aqueous solution and coated with oleic acid. The solid and organic solution of the synthesized nanoparticles was obtained. Self-assembled monolayer films were formed using organic solution of these nanoparticles. The crystal sizes determined by Debye-Scherre equation with XRD data were found close to the particle sizes calculated from TEM images, and this indicates that the synthesized particles are nanocrystalline. Especially, EDS, ED, FT-IR, TGA/DTA and DSC were used to characterize the nanoparticles and the oleic acid adsorption, and it was found that oleic acid molecule on the $Fe_3O_4$ nanoparticle is a bilayer adsorption, while that on $CoFe_2O_4$ nanoparticle is single layer adsorption. The superparamagnetic behavior of the nanoparticles was documented by the hysteresis loop measured at 300 K.

Electric Field-Induced Modification of Magnetocrystalline Anisotropy in Transition-metal Films and at Metal-Insulator Interfaces

  • We report results of first principles calculations for effects of an external electric field (E-field) on the magnetocrystalline anisotropy (MCA) in transition-metal (Fe, Co, and Ni) monolayers and at metal-insulator (Fe/MgO) interfaces by means of full-potential linearized augmented plane wave method. For the monolayers, the MCA in the Fe monolayer (but not in the Co and Ni) is modified by the E-field, and a giant modification is achieved in the $Fe_{0.75}Co_{0.25}$. For the Fe/MgO interfaces, the ideal Fe/MgO interface gives rise to a large out-of plane MCA, and a MCA modification is induced when an E-field is introduced. However, the existence of an interfacial FeO layer between the Fe layer and the MgO substrate may play a key role in demonstrating an Efield-driven MCA switching, i.e., from out-of-plane MCA to in-plane MCA.

O/Fe(100) and MgO/Fe(100) 계의 LEED I/V curve 분석 (LEED I/V Curve Analysis of O/Fe(100) and MgO/Fe(100) System)

  • 우리는 O/Fe(100)의 원자적 구조와 MgO/Fe(100) 표면의 계면의 구조를 LEED I/V curve를 이용하여 분석하였다. 산소를 Fe(100) 표면에 흡착시켰을 때 Fe 표면의 첫 번째 층간 간격은 약 16 % 정도 팽창하는 것을 확인하였다. 1ML MgO를 Fe(100) 표면에 성장하였을 때, MgO의 O가 Fe의 on-top 위치에 자라나는 것을 확인하였고, MgO/Fe 계면의 층간 간격이 확장되는 것을 확인하였다. AIA(average intensity mixing approximation) 계산을 사용하여 단층 MgO 성장한 Fe(100) 계의 계면구조는 MgO/FeO/Fe(100)와 MgO/Fe(100)의 계면구조를 갖는 것을 확인하였다. 이것은 확장된 FeO 층의 존재를 보이고 MgO/FeO/Fe(100)와 MgO/Fe(100) 두가지 계면 구조의 공존을 보인 EELS 실험 결과를 뒷받침 한다.

Patterned Arrays of Well-Ordered ZnO Nanorods Assisted with Polystyrene Monolayer By Oxygen Plasma Treatment

  • Zinc Oxide (ZnO) was known as a promising material for surface acoustic wave devices, gas sensors, optical devices and solar cells due to piezoelectric material, large band gap of 3.37 eV and large exciton binding energy of 60 meV at room temperature. In particular, the alignment of ZnO nanostructures into ordered nanoarrays can bring about improved sensitivity of devices due to widen the surface area to catch a lot of gas particle. Oxygen plasma treatment is used to specify the nucleation site of round patterned ZnO nanorods growth. Therefore ZnO nanorods were grown on a quartz substrate with patterned polystyrene monolayer by hydrothermal method after oxygen plasma treatment. And then, we carried out nanostructures by adjusting the diameter of the arranged ZnO nanorods according to polystyrene spheres of various sizes. The obtained ZnO nanostructures was characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM).
