동시 결함 검출 기능이 있는 실시간 제어 시스템의 결함 허용성을 위한 적응형 체크포인팅 기법 (An Adaptive Checkpointing Scheme for Fault Tolerance of Real-Time Control Systems with Concurrent Fault Detection)

  • The checkpointing scheme is a well-known technique to cope with transient faults in digital systems. This paper proposes an adaptive checkpointing scheme for the reliability improvement of real-time control systems with concurrent fault detection capability. With concurrent fault detection capability the effect of transient faults are assumed to be detected with no latency. The proposed adaptive checkpointing scheme is based on the reliability analysis of an equidistant checkpointing scheme. Numerical data show the proposed adaptive scheme outperforms the equidistant scheme from a reliability point of view.

  • Fault detection was carried out in a etcher of capacitive coupled plasma with OES (Optical Emission Spectroscopy) and impedance by VI probe that are widely used for process control and monitoring at semiconductor industry. The experiment was operated at conventional Ar and Fluorocarbon plasma with variable change such as pressure and addition of N2 and O2 to assume atmospheric leak, RF power and pressure that are highly possible to impact wafer yield during wafer process, in order to observe OES and VI Probe signals. The sensitivity change on OES and Impedance by VI probe was analyzed by statistical method including PCA to determine healthy of process. The main goal of this study is to find feasibility and limitation of OES and Impedances for fault detection by shift of plasma characteristics and to enhance capability of fault detection using PCA.

  • This paper presents a fault detection and isolation(FDI) method based on Generalized Likelihood Ratio(GLR) test for the tightly coupled SDINS/CPS system. The GLR test is known to have the capability of detecting an assumed change while estimating its occurrence time and magnitude, and isolating the changing part. Once a fault is detected even if we don't know if the fault occurrs at either INS or GPS, multi-hypothesized GLR scheme performs the fault isolation between INS and GPS, and find which satellite malfunctions. However, in the INS faulty case, it turned out to fail to accomodate the fault isolation between accelerometer and gyroscope due to the coupling effects and a poor observability of the system. Hence, to isolate the INS fault, it needs to change the attitude of the vehicle resulting in enhancing the degree of observability.

  • There is few study which automatically diagnoses the fault from ship's monitored data. The bigger control and monitoring system is. the more important fault diagnosis and maintenance is to reduce damage caused by system fault. This paper proposes fault diagnosis system using a correlation analysis algorithm which is able to diagnose and forecast the fault from monitored data and is composed of fault detection knowledge base and fault diagnosis knowledge base. For all kinds of ship's engine room monitored data are classified with combustion subsystem, heat exchange subsystem and electric motor and pump subsystem, To verify capability of fault detection, diagnosis and prediction, FMS(Fault Management System) is developed by C++. Simulation by FMS is carried out with population data set made by the log book data of 2 months duration from a large full container ship of H shipping company.

  • There is few study which automatically diagnose the fault from ship's monitored signal. The bigger control and monitoring system is, the more important fault diagnosis and maintenance is to reduce damage brought forth by system fault. This paper proposes fault diagnosis system using a correlation analysis algorithm which is able to diagnose and forecast the fault and is composed to fault detection knowledge base and fault diagnosis knowledge base.   • 소프트웨어 개발 과정에서 시스템 내에 잔존하는 결함을 발견하거나 수정하기 위해 테스트를 실시한다. 테스트 단계에서 결함을 발견하고 소프트웨어 신뢰성을 평가할 수 있다. 수리적으로 신뢰성을 평가할 수 있는 모델이 소프트웨어 신뢰도 성장 모델이다. 이 모델의 대부분은 결함의 형태가 하나이고 결함율은 일정하다라는 가정에서 진행되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 테스트 단계에서 발견되는 결함이 일정하지 않다라는 관점에서 새로운 모델을 제안하고 결함 데이터를 적용해보았다. 또한 기존의 모델과 비교 및 분석하여 타당성을 증명하였다.

  • This study suggests a generalized availability and safety evaluation model to evaluate the influences to the system's fault tolerant capabilities depending on automatic fault detection function such as the automatic periodic testings. The conventional evaluation model of automatic fault detection function deals only with the self diagnostics, and supposes that the fault detection coverage of self diagnostics is always constant. But all of the fault detection methods could be degraded. For example, the periodic surveillance test has the potential human errors or test equipment errors, the self diagnostics has the potential degradation of built-in logics, and the automatic periodic testing has the potential degradation of automatic test facilities. The suggested evaluation models have incorporated the loss or erroneous behaviors of the automatic fault detection methods. The availability and the safety of each module of the safety grade platform have been evaluated as they were applied the automatic periodic test methodology and the fault tolerant evaluation models. The availability and safety of the safety grade platform were improved when applied the automatic periodic testing. Especially the fault tolerant capability of the processor module with a weak self-diagnostics and the process parameter input modules were dramatically improved compared to the conventional cases. In addition, as a result of the safety evaluation of the digital reactor protection system, the system safety of the digital parts was improved about 4 times compared to the conventional cases.

  • A redundant control scheme which can maintain its tracking capability in the case of a controller failure is proposed for the industrial applications which need high reliability with fault-tolerance. It consists of two identical controllers and a switching mechanism which includes failure detection and reconfiguration algorithm. The new detection method against controller failure using fuzzy logic enables the detection of controller failures without failure assumptions through the instability of the failed controller. The failed controller is smoothly removed from the control loop by reducing time weight of the failed controller.

  • A variable structure control (VSC) based model following control system that possesses fault detection and isolation (FDI) capability as well as fault tolerance property is proposed. The nonlinear part of the proposed control law. whose magnitude is determined by sliding variables, plays the role of suppressing fault effect. Thus, approximate fault reconstruction is also possible via the analysis of sliding variables. The proposed algorithm is applied to an active suspension system of pound vehicles to verify its applicability.

  • Many software reliability growth models (SRGMs) based on nonhomogeneous Poisson process (NHPP) have been developed and applied in practice. NHPP SRGMs are characterized by their mean value functions. Mean value functions are usually derived from differential equations representing the fault detection/removal process during testing. In this paper such differential equations are regarded as frameworks for generating mean value functions. Currently available frameworks are theoretically discussed with respect to capability of representing the fault detection/removal process. Then two general frameworks are proposed.
