Fatty Alcohol Ethoxylate에 의해 유도되는 Dimethomorph의 오이 엽면 침투 기작 (Mechanism of Action of Fatty Alcohol Ethoxylate on Foliar Penetration of Dimethomorph into Cucumber)

  • 침투성 증진 물질로 fatty alcohol ethoxylate(FAE) 혹은 지방산 에스테르를 함유하는 dimethomorph 수용액을 오이 잎에 분무 살포하여 침투율을 측정하고, FAE의 각기 다른 분자내 친수기와 친유기의 구성에 따른 dimethomorph의 침투율을 조사함으로써 FAE에 의해 유도되는 dimethomorph의 침투 기작을 추론하였다. Polyoxyethylene mono-9-octadecenyl ether(ethylene oxide 부가몰수 6 몰, $C_{18=9}E_6$)에 의해 유도된 dimethomorph의 오이 엽면 침투량은 분무액 중의 $C_{18=9}E_6$의 농도와 dimethomorph농도에 비례하였다. 따라서 FAE의 엽면 침투와 그로 인하여 유도되는 dimethomorph의 침투성은 잎 표면으로부터 내부를 향하여 일어나는 단순한 확산 현상임을 알 수 있었다. 동일한 몰농도로 첨가된 지방산 에스테르와 FAE를 이용한 실험에서 dimethomorph의 오이 잎 침투성 증진에는 친유기로 octadecanol이 가장 효과적이었으며, 여기에 부가된 친수기 polyoxyethylene은 ethylene oxide(EO) 부가몰수가 20 몰까지 증가할수록 더욱 효과적이었다. 따라서 FAE 계면활성제의 친유기는 dimethomorph의 확산 침투가 용이해지도록 주로 오이 잎의 cuticular wax의 이화학적 성질을 변화시키는 역할을 하며, 20 몰 이하의 EO가 부가된 친수기 Polyoxyethylene은 FAE의 몰부피를 증가시킴으로써 FAE 자체의 확산 침투 속도를 늦추고 cuticular membrane 내에 오래 머물게 함으로써 dimethomorph의 침투가 용이하도록 친유기에 의해 변화된 cuticular wax의 이화학성을 오래 동안 유지하는 역할을 하는 것으로 추정되었다.

  • 침투성 증진을 목적으로 계면활성제가 첨가된 dimethomorph 제제를 살포하였을 때 오이 엽면 침투성에 영향을 미칠 수 있는 요인들을 조사하고 비교 평가함으로써 실용적인 견지에서 각 요인을 고려한 dimethomorph의 제제와 이의 사용 방법을 제시하고자 하였다. 시험한 모든 환경요인과 식물요인 중 dimethomorph의 침투성에 가장 크게 영향을 미치는 요인은 약제를 살포한 후의 온도와, 오이 재배시 채광량과 습도 등의 인자를 반영하는 오이 잎의 왁스량이었다. 약제 살포 후 채광이 양호한 경우 침투성이 증가하였으며, 수화제나 친수기 polyoxyethylene의 길이가 긴 비이온성 계면활성제를 함유하는 아세톤 수용액과 같은 가용화 제제가 습도 변화에 안전하였다. 오이 품종에 따른 dimethomorph의 엽면 침투성 변화는 그리 크지 않았다. 이와 같은 연구 결과를 고려할 때 침투성이 증진된 dimethomorph 제제는 polyoxyethylene의 길이가 긴 비이온성 계면활성제를 함유하는 수화제가 가장 적합하였다. 또한 이러한 제제는 살포 후 온도를 적당하게 유지하고, 너무 강한 햇빛을 피하게 하는 것이 합리적인 사용방법이 될 수 있을 것이다.

Alcohol 사료가 In vitro 반추위내 pH, Ammonia, Alcohol 및 Volatile Fatty Acids 농도에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Alcoholic Feeds on In vitro Ruminal pH, Ammonia, Alcohol and Volatile Fatty Acids Concentrations)

  • 본 실험은 alcohol 사료 처리에 따른 in vitro 발효 pattern의 변화를 검토하여 alcohol 사료 처리가 반추위내 발효 pattern에 미치는 영향을 규명코자 실시하였다. 시험구 처리는 배합사료를 첨가하는 대조구(control), 배합사료와 1, 3 및 5%의 alcohol 사료(Alcoholic feed; AF)를 첨가하는 처리구를 각각 AF-1구, AF-3구 및 AF-5구로 나누어 실시하였다. 배양 12시간 동안 ammonia 농도는 AF-1, AF-5구에서 대조구에 비해 낮았다(p<0.05). 배양액의 alcohol 농도는 alcohol 첨가 수준이 증가할수록 높았다(p<0.05). 배양 12시간에 TVFA 농도는 AF-1, AF-3 및 AF-5에서 대조구에 비해 현저히 높았다(p<0.05). 배양 8~12시간 사이에 acetate 비율은 대조구에서 빠른 속도로 감소하였으며, AF-1, AF-3 및 AF-5구에서는 일정한 수준을 유지하는 것으로 나타났다. Propionate 비율은 배양 8~12시간 사이에 AF-1, AF-3 및 AF-5에 비해 대조구에서 빠른 속도로 증가하였다(p<0.05). Butyrate 및 valerate 비율은 AF-1, AF-3 및 AF-5에서 대조구에 비해 높았다(p<0.05). Caproate 비율은 배양 8시간에 AF-1구, AF-3구 및 AF-5구에서 각각 0.05, 0.58 및 0.47M%로 나타났으나, 대조구에서는 검출되지 않았다. 본 실험의 결과에서 alcohol 사료의 처리는 in vitro 반추위액의 ammonia, alcohol 및 휘발성지방산 농도와 pH에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 판단된다. 또한 본 실험의 결과에서는 5%의 alcohol 첨가 수준이 여타 alcohol 첨가 수준에 비해 반추위 발효에 보다 효과적인 것으로 사료된다.

  • Alcoholic liver disease is defined by the development of three types of liver damage following chronic heavy alcohol consumption, namely, alcoholic fatty liver, alcoholic hepatitis, and alcoholic cirrhosis, The clinical features and laboratory tests often do not distinguish among these types of liver injuries. In addition, a considerable number of the patients who have clinical and laboratory features compatible with alcoholic liver disease are diagnosed on liver biopsy to have chronic viral hepatitis or other lesion. Because of these factors, liver biopsy is frequently needed to arrive a definite diagnosis of the disease, its activity, and its chronicity. Fatty liver is usually a benign and reverible condition that disappears on abstinence from alcohol. However, alcoholic hepatitis is usually regarded as a precursor of cirrhosis. The principle factors in the development of alcoholic hepatitis and cirrhosis are the quantity and length of ingestion of alcohol. women are much more susceptible than men to hepatic injuries. Since only 10 - 20% of alcoholics develop cirrhosis, however, it is conceivable that other factors, either genetic, environmental, or nutritional may contribute in the genesis of liver injuries. The most important factor in the treatment of alcoholic liver disease is prolonzed abstinence from alcohol, since abstinence by itself improves clinical status and survival, Nutritional support in patients with nutritional deficiency, and specific drug therapies such as corticosteroid or anabolic steroids for hospitaliged patients with severe alcoholic hepatitis also play an important role in devreasing morbidity and improving survival. Liver transplantation is a newer treatment modality in the patients with advanced cirrhosis, not responsible to medical treatment.

  • Using a flue - cured tobacco variety, KF lH9, recently bred and released to farming, effect of growth regulators(fatty alcohol and C - MH) on the change of alkaloid contents and dynamics of MH uptake and distribution were investigated. An efficient sucker control method was also pursued. Treatment of fatty alcohol at button stage remarkably increased the rate of C - MH uptake. However, except in the plants treated with 2- fold volume of C - MH, residue of C -MH was kept under maximum residue level(80 ppd). C - MH residue in stalk was higher than in foliage in general. Compared to untreated control, leaf weight per unit area was increased by the treatment even in lower leaves where vigorous transfer of C - MH from treated tips was indicated and sucker control higher than 94.9% was achieved with all treatments except for sole half volume C - MH treatment at topping stage. Alkaloid content in foliage was reduced by dual treatment of fatty alcohol and C - MH but increased in stalk and root.

  • Using a flue- cured tobacco variety, KF 109, effect of growth regulators(fatty alcohol and C- MH) on the change of protein, DNA, and RNA were investigated. Generally, inhibition of DNA synthesis was observed soon after become notably reduced when checked on 14 days after the treatment. Fatty alcohol treatment appeared to alleviate the inhibition of DNA synthesis caused by the C - MH treatment. It was also observed that in the tips DNA content increased slightly at the early stage after the C - MH treatment but evident reduction of it was resulted from 7th day after the treatment. RNA content in cutters and tips was increased initially but variable transcription inhibitory activities - not so obvious as was observed in DNA synthesis - according to leaf positions were shown thereafter. Ripening of leaves probably due to senescence was advanced by the treatment of the growth regulators. DNA content in root was relatively higher in plants treated with the growth regulators while it was clearly decreased in stalk, However, RNA contents in tissue of stalk and root was not different with that of foliage. Increase of protein content in foliage as well as in stalk was evident 14 days after dual treatment of fatty alcohol and C - MH.

Association of Fatty Acid Ethyl Esters in Meconium of Neonates with Growth Deficits at Birth: a Prospective, Single-Centre Cohort Study

  • Background: In this prospective cohort study, we investigated the association between fatty acid ethyl esters (FAEEs) in meconium as biomarkers of prenatal ethanol exposure and growth deficits, as birth outcomes, that constitute several of the key cardinal features of fetal alcohol syndrome. Methods: A total of 157 meconium samples were collected from enrolled infants within 24 hours of birth, and nine FAEEs were quantified using liquid chromatography/tandem mass spectrometry. The relationships between cumulative concentrations of nine species of FAEEs in meconium and birth parameters of growth (age-sex-specific centiles of head circumference [HC], weight, and length) and respective and combined birth outcomes of growth deficits (HC ${\leq}10th$ centile, weight ${\leq}10th$ centile, and length ${\leq}10th$ centile) were determined. Results: Multivariate logistic regression analysis demonstrated that higher cumulative concentrations of meconium FAEEs correlated with elevated risks for HC and length, both, 10th percentile or less (adjusted odds ratio [aOR], 2.94; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.12-7.74; P = 0.029) and HC and weight and length, all of them, 10th percentile or less (aOR, 3.27; 95% CI, 1.12-9.59; P = 0.031). Conclusion: The elevated cumulative FAEEs in meconium were associated with combined growth deficits at birth, specifically HC and length, both, 10th percentile or less, which might be correlated with detrimental alcohol effects on fetal brain and bone development, suggesting a plausible alcohol-specific pattern of intrauterine growth restriction.

  • To increase the skin permeation rate of flurbiprofen, fatty alcohols were added in propylene glycol vehicle containing 1% flurbiprofen. Their enhancing effect on the skin permeation of flurbiprofen was evaluated using Keshary-Chien diffusion cells fitted with excised rat skins. Lauryl alcohol and oleyl alcohol increased the skin permeation rate of flurbiprofen 11.3 and 8.5 fold, respectively, compared to the control vehicle.

백일주 양조중 알코올, 유리아미노산, 비휘발성유기산 및 지방산조성의 변화 (Changes of Alcohol, Free Amino Acid, Non-Volatile Organic Acid and fatty Acid Composition during Brewing of Backilju)

  • Changes in taste components of Backilju, an traditional alcoholic beverage of Korea, were investigated. Ethanol(17%) was the most abundant, and then isoamylalcohol(23mg%) and methanol(8mg%) were also detected in a small amount in Backilju. Major non-volatile organic acids were lactic and malic acid, followed by citric, fumaric and succinic acid. Arginine, phenylalanine and glutamic acid were major free amino acids and essential amino acid content was 230∼560 mg%, which was 45∼48% of total free amino acids. The major fatty acid of total lipid was palmitic acid(37∼43%). It has been found that the Backilju contained more free amino acids and alcohols than other Korean Yokjus.

  • It was studied that which components of the ginseng are related to the effects that accelerate Saccharomyces division by comparing the influences of ginseng powder, alcohol extracts of ginseng, and linoleic and stearic acids which are known as the ginseng components on the division. The addition of ginseng powder and alcohol extracts of ginseng to the glucose agar medium marked the conspicuous increases of the division of Saccharomyces: 44% increase by 0.1% powder, 53% increase by 0.05% alcohol extracts. Also, the addition of the fatty acids of less than 0.0008% marked the considerable increases of the division: 22% increase by 0.0008% linoleic acid, 31% increase by 0. 00016% linoleic acid, 12% increase by 0.0008% stearic acid. Therefore it can be concluded that a proper amount of those fatty acids contained in the ginseng has a definite effect on the acceleration of Saccharomyces division.
