해양사고 예방을 위한 국내 연안선 항해당직자의 업무 부하 분석 (Analysis of Workload of the Domestic Coastal Ship Duty Officer to Prevent Marine Accidents)

  • Objective: The purpose of this study is to measure the workload of Korea coastal ship crew members, to investigate whether they are following work-break time regulations and to identify the main causes of their workload. Background: According to the US Coast Guard, about 33% of human casualties are reported to be due to fatigue, and 30% of marine casualties reported by the British Marine Accident Investigation Agency (MAIB) are attributed to crew fatigue. But the coastal ship are not managed for business hours and breaks despite the harsh environment. Method: The workload of duty crew members on the 100 domestic coastal vessels was measured. It was also investigated whether they are following domestic and international work-break time regulations. Finally, the marine accidents resulted from the fatigue of the crew was analyzed. Results: As a result of workload analysis, the workload on the 42~62% of the vessels exceeded the standard of working time on the related regulation. The workload increased with the number of inbound and outbound ports. Especially, in the system where there are two seafarers, the workload exceeded the working time requirement. As a result of the marine accidents analysis on 100 vessels, it was found that collision and grounding occurred due to fatigue, workload and drowsiness in 7 marine accidents out of 30 marine accidents. Conclusion: It is necessary for the shipping companies to introduce an operation management manual for the management of the crews' workload and reasonable crew arrangement. It is also required for crew members to easily record work times and for shipping companies to manage the record. It would be possible to prevent many marine accidents by providing adequate rest to the crews and flexibly adjusting their working hours. Application: The results of this study can be used as fundamental data to manage crews' fatigue and to make job management manuals.

건설근로자의 피로도와 스트레스 및 재해위험의 구조적 관계 (Study on the Structural Relation between the Level of Fatigue and Stress of Construction Workers and Disaster Risks)

  • This study empirically examines how much effect levels of fatigue and stress of a construction worker have on disaster risks from the perspective of human factors concerning construction disaster risks. To achieve the purpose of this study, a survey was conducted with respect to construction workers working at large construction sites within the metropolitan area. The retrieved survey data were analyzed by using the statistical software programs, SPSS 18.0 and AMOS 8.0. The results of this study do not definitively lead to the conclusion that the level of fatigue or stress of construction workers result in disaster risks. However, it does show that the results vary depending upon the individual approach and treatment of stress and fatigue. In particular, this study revealed that disaster risk levels could increase through unsafe behavior intentions which were established as a mediator variable. Also, with respect to unsafe behavior intentions of construction workers leading to disaster risks, when examining the results that the level of mental fatigue, occupational stress and social-psychological stress of construction workers had a greater significant effect than the level of physical fatigue, this study demonstrates the importance of psychological and mental issues that could be easily overlooked with respect manual labor workers.

근무기관에 따른 정형도수물리치료사의 건강상태, 번아웃증후군에 관한 연구: 서울시 지역을 중심으로 (A Study on the Health Status and Burnout Syndrome of Orthopedic Physiotherapists According to the Working Institution: Focusing on the Seoul Metropolitan Area )

  • Background: This study compared orthopedic physiotherapists from different working institutions regarding their health status and burnout syndrome to understand the work-related factors that affect health status and burnout syndrome Methods: This study was conducted from October 28 to November 13, 2022, focusing on physiotherapists working in medical institutions located in metropolitan areas, such as Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Incheon. A total of 591 questionnaires were analyzed. The questionnaire consisted of questions related to the basics of physical therapy, general matters, types of working institutions, health conditions, and burnout syndrome. Results: No significant difference was detected in health self-awareness status whether the working institution was a clinic, nursing hospital, hospital, oriental hospital, general hospital, or university hospital. Among the burnout factors, nursing hospitals showed the highest scores for retirement demands, work unfavorability, physical fatigue, mental fatigue, and reasons for work because of salary. By contrast, university hospitals showed the highest enthusiasm and other institutions showed the lowest enthusiasm for work. In particular, in terms of enthusiasm, scores were significantly more positive in university hospitals than in other institutions. Conclusion: A management plan for burnout for orthopedic manual physiotherapists working in nursing hospitals is needed, and future research will examine the health status of orthopedic manual physiotherapists and work that may affect burnout syndrome. An exploration of management measures, such as health promotion and burnout syndrome prevention, is needed that adds other items, such as differences in environment and differences in the number and disease severity of patients

  • The purpose of this study was to reduce the chronical low back pain for the manual material handlers. The objectives of this study was to: (1) examine lifting variables, (2) analyze collected data, and (3) suggest lifting redesign recommendations in workplace. The data were collected in A company, manufactures various paints in Si-Wha industrial complex, Kyunggi-Do. It was found that Sb(horizontal distance), Sc(vertical distance), 54(travelling distance) and Sf(frequency) were significant at the 0.01 level and Sa(weight) was significant at the 0.05 level.

An Implementation of Workload Measurement by Lifting Index

  • Many risk factors with the onset of Low Back Pain(LBP) have been identified, however, lifting out of Manual Material Handling(MMH) was the most important factor to the LBP. Injuries due to lifting took account for 34.0%(227,291) out of the total overexertion in MMH(668,084). The weight, vertical location, twist angle, lifting frequency, and lifting posture were reviewed in this study. Technical information for using the revised lifting equation to evaluate a variety of two - handled manual material handling tasks was suggested. To measure worker's fatigue in lifting task, Lifting Index Simulator(LIS) was create under the revised NIOSH(National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health) lifting equation. For the implementation of the LIS, data was collected in A company manufactures various paints in Si-Wha industrial complex, Kyunggi-Do. The results of the Lifting Index(LI) were analyzed by MANOVA to find the relation with lifting variables collected. It was found that horizontal distance, vertical distance, travelling distance and frequency were significant at the 0.01 level and weight was significant at the 0.05 level. The purpose of this paper is to reduce the chronical low back pain for the manual material handlers.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze human factors - stress, alcohol, fatigue - of the railway driver in domestic railway industry. This study proposes railway safety improvement of domestic railway by intensively comparing railway safety system overseas to reinforce domestic railway safety. Domestic railways well known the well-organized railway safety culture has brought up safety issues on their process of private management. With this process, also, domestic safety is requested by increasing sense of the safety for general public. This study expects Korean railways to become a well-organized that as removing insecure factors of domestic railway based on result comparing and analyzing the manual, factors and requirements of guideline for internal and external safety culture.

치료적 복합운동이 제한성 폐질환 노인의 호흡기능과 체간자세 개선에 미치는 효과 (Effects of Combined Therapeutic Exercise on Improvement of Respiratory Function and Trunk Posture in Elderly Patients with Restrictive Lung Disease)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 호흡기 장애가 있는 제한성 폐질환 노인의 체간에 관절가동술과 스트레칭이 호흡기능, 자세, 신체피로감의 개선효과를 확인하는데 있다. 연구대상자는 총 10명으로 2014년 1월부터 동년 11월까지 8주간 비동시적으로 진행되었고, 주 3회, 1일 30분간 체간에 관절가동술과 스트레칭을 실시하였다. 연구 결과 FVC, FEV1, 체간자세, 체간움직임, 신체피로감이 유의하게 개선되었다(p<.05). 본 연구를 통해 관절가동술과 스트레칭이 호흡기장애 노인의 호흡기능, 체간자세, 체간움직임, 신체피로감을 동시에 개선시킬 수 있는 호흡정형물리치료가 될 수 있음을 확인하였다. 이후 연구들에서는 제한성 폐질환 노인을 대상으로 본 연구에서 적용한 호흡정형물리치료와 운동 분야들과의 치료적 융복합을 통한 지속적인 연구가 필요하겠다.

Construction Ergonomic Intervention to Reduce Musculoskeletal Disorders in Aluminum Formworkers

  • Manual material handling is the one of the leading causes for musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) and lower back discomfort. According to a study, construction formworkers suffer greater rates of muscular injuries and related illness due to manual activities. However, there is still a paucity of information on MSD, preventive posture issues, and corresponding solutions for construction aluminum formworkers. As a result, MSD and disregard of worker health and safety continue to exist at construction sites. Although preventive measures and strategies have been studied in previous research, we believe it is imperative to shed light on this problem through this study. This study aims to 1) implement a simple and cost-effective elevated bench to reduce MSDs, and 2) determine the rapid upper limbs assessment (RULA) and Ovako working posture analyzing system (OWAS) action catagory of workers in different postures to assess their MSD conditions and obtain an optimal position and posture using the Jack human modeling software and simulation tool. The study findings reveal a considerable reduction in MSD discomfort and which posture is acceptable in post-intervention instances.Thus results provide inexpensive and simple ergonomic interventions with favorable RULA and OWAS ratings that can be applied at construction sites. This study demonstrates workstation ergonomic intervention cases that can aid in understanding the urgency of applying existing research strategies into practice.

Edge 분석과 ROI 기법을 활용한 콘크리트 균열 분석 - Edge와 ROI를 적용한 콘크리트 균열 분석 및 검사 - (Edge Detection and ROI-Based Concrete Crack Detection)

  • 본 논문에서는 합성곱신경망과 ROI기법을 이용한 콘크리트 균열 분석에 관해 소개한다. 콘크리트 표면, 빔과 같은 구조물은 피로 응력, 주기 부하에 노출되며, 이는 일반적으로 구조물의 표면에서 미세한 수준에서 시작되는 균열을 야기한다. 구조물의 균열은 안정성을 저하시키고 구조물의 견고함을 감소시킨다. 조기 발견을 통해 손상 및 고장 가능성을 방지하기 위한 예방 조치를 취할 수 있다. 일반적으로 수동 검사 결과는 품질이 좋지 않고, 대규모 기반 시설의 경우 접근이 어려우며, 균열을 정확하게 감지하기 어렵다. 이러한 수동검사의 자동화는 기존 방식의 한계를 해결할 수 있기 때문에 컴퓨터 비전 기반의 연구들이 수행되었다. 하지만 다양한 유형의 균열이나, 열화상 카메라 등을 이용한 연구들은 부족한 상태이다. 따라서 본 연에서는 콘크리트 벽의 균열을 자동으로 감지하는 방법론을 개발하여 제시하며, 다음과 같은 연구 내용을 목표로 한다. 첫째, 균열 감지 이미지 기반 분석의 주요 장점인 이미지 처리 기술을 사용하여 기존의 수동 방법과 비교하여 정확도가 향상된 결과 및 정보를 제공한다. 둘째, 강화된 Sobel edge segmentation 기술 및 ROI 기법 기반의 알고리즘을 개발하여 비파괴 시험을 위한 자동 균열 감지 기술을 구현한다.

피스톤로드 검사공정의 자동화 시스템 구축 방안 (Study on Automation of Inspection System in the Piston Lod Manufacturing Process)

  • For Shock obsorber piston led is launched to the market through luring, milling, grooving, rolling, inspection and finally packing processes, To this time around 11 items, that is, out diameter and length etc..for the piston lod are inspected strictly as a total inspection. Piston Lod is being produced 30,000 a day and its excessively repeating inspection is getting induce repetition strain injury and reduce production rate as fatigue accumulation of worker increase inspection errors. Therefore, for the inspection process is severely needed a progressive improvement through the automation. In this study, we consider automation method of piston led inspection process and suggest an efficient automation strategy as improving the various problems in present manual inspection way.
