The findings were summarized as follows. The safety check by manufacturer showed that 6 of 13 companies are over the average occurrence of defects. It was expected that there would be a difference between manufacturing technology capability and production system of each manufacturer. Consequently, manufacturers should institutionally improve and strengthen certification items for the upward standardization of safety certification before factory. Second, the safety check by year showed that the results of this study accord with those of previous studies on defect time. Consequently, manufacturers should classify the 3-year-old equipment for vehicle-mounted MEWP into a special check subject to do a nondestructive test according to proven results, and also reflect the test in a safety test system to do regular preventive activities of equipment defects. Third, the safety check by part showed that the boom and outrigger parts of vehicle-mounted MEWP have the most defects. Stress concentration resulted in defects as the boom part was most frequently operated in the structural parts for a real work. To prevent this, it is suitable to improve the hardness of boom materials. The outrigger part needs improvement in safety devices with materials. As an outrigger supports the overturning moment of equipment, it is most affected by its load based on the operating radius, resulting in fatigue crack.
Structural analysis of a brake shoe for commercial vehicle was performed using finite element method. Since the strength of a brake shoe is affected by the magnitude and distribution shape of the contact pressure with the drum, the contact pressure between the shoe friction material and drum was calculated using a 2-Dimensional non-linear contact analysis in a state. And the brake was actuated by input air pressure and the drum of it was calculated both stationary and dynamic based on forced torque applied to the drum during the static state analysis. The results of the above analysis were then used as the load boundary conditions for a 3-Dimensional shoe model analysis to determine the maximum strain on the shoes. In the analysis model, the values of tensile test were used for the material properties of the brake shoes and drum, while the values of compression test were used for the friction material. We assumed it as linear variation, even though the properties of friction material were actually non-linear. The experiments were carried out under the same analysis conditions used for fatigue test and under the same brake system which equipped with a brake drum based on the actual axle state in a vehicle. The strains were measured at the same locations where the analysis was performed on the shoes. The obtained results of the experiment matched well with those from the analysis. Consequently, the model used in this study was able to determine the stress at the maximum air pressure at the braking system, thereby a modified shoe model in facilitating was satisfied with the required endurance strength in the vehicle.
After an accident involving mooring link failures in an offloading buoy, verification of the fatigue safety in terms of the out-of-plane bending (OPB) and in-plane bending (IPB) moments has become a key engineering item in the design of various floating offshore units. The mooring links for an 8 MW floating offshore wind turbine were selected for this study. To identify the OPB stiffness (OPB moment versus interlink angle), a numerical simulation model, called the 3-link model, is usually composed of three successive chain links closest to the fairlead or chain hawse. This paper introduces two numerical simulation techniques for the 3-link analyses. The conventional and advanced approaches are both based on the prescribed rotation approach (PRA) and direct tension approach (DTA). Comparisons of the nominal stress distributions, OPB stiffnesses, hotspot stress curves, and stress concentration curves are presented. The multiple link analyses used to identify the tension angle versus interlink angle require the OPB stiffness data from the 3-link analyses. A convergence study was conducted to determine the minimum number of links for a multi-link analysis. It was proven that 10 links were sufficient for the multi-link analysis. The tension angle versus interlink angle relations are presented based on multi-link analyses with 10 links. It was found that the subsequent results varied significantly according to the 3-link analysis techniques.

Because there is no suspension and differential devices at cart body, the deformation of the frame happened during kart driving affects the driving performance caused by the elastic deformation and the fatigue life of kart frame resulted from the permanent deformation. The dynamic behavior of kart caused by the torsional deformation during circular driving is the important factor of these two kinds of deformations. In order to analyze the dynamic behavior of kart at this curved section, GPS is used to trace the track of kart and the torsional stress at kart-frame has been measured with real time. The mechanical properties of kart-frames for leisure and racing are investigated through material property analysis and tensile test. Torsional stress concentration and frame distortion are investigated through stress analysis on frame on the basis of study result. The real karts for leisure and racing kart are also tested in each driving condition by using the driving analysis equipment. The driving behavior of kart at the curved section are investigated through this test. As the phenomenon of load movement due to centrifugal force at car is happened during circular driving, the torsional stress occurs at cart steel frame.
Both the SS41 steel and the M.E.F(martensite encapsulated islands of frrite) dual phase steel made of SS41 steel by heat treatment were welded by friction welding, and then manufactured machinemade Vnotch standard Charpy impact specimens and precracked with a fatigue system at BM(base metal), HAZ(heat affected zone) and WZ(weld interface Zone). The impact test of them was performed with an instrumented impact test machine at a number of temperatures in constant loading velocity and the dynamic fracture characteristics were studied on bases of the absorbed energy, dynamic fracture toughness and fractography from the test. The results obtained are as follows; At the room temperature, the absorbed energy is HAZ.geq.WZ.geq.BM in case of the M.E.F. dual phase steel: BM.geq.HAZ.geq.WZ in case of the SS41 steel, HAZ.geq.BM.geq.WZ at the low temperature. The absorbed energy is decreased markedly with the temperature lowering; it is highly dependent on the temperature. The dynamic fracture toughness of the M.E.F. dual phase steel is HAZ.geq.WZ.geq.BM at the room temperature; BM.geq.WZ.geq.HAZ below-60.deg. C. Therefore the reliability of friction welding is uncertain at the low temperature(below-60.deg. C). The dynamic fracture toughness of the SS41 steel; HZA.geq.WZ.geq.BM at overall temperature region. The flaw formed by rotational upsetting pressure was shown y SEM; in this region. The absorbed energy per unit area and dynamic fracture toughness were low relative to other region.

Fatigue crack growth model has been developed for dissimilar metal weld joints of a piping component under cyclic loading, where in the crack is located at the center of the weld in the circumferential direction. The fracture parameter, Stress Intensity Factor (SIF) has been computed by using principle of superposition as KH + KM. KH is evaluated by assuming that, the complete specimen is made of the material containing the notch location. In second stage, the stress field ahead of the crack tip, accounting for the strength mismatch, the applied load and geometry has been characterized to evaluate SIF (KM). For each incremental crack depth, stress field ahead of the crack tip has been quantified by using J-integral (elastic), mismatch ratio, plastic interaction factor and stress parallel to the crack surface. The associated constants for evaluation of KM have been computed by using the quantified stress field with respect to the distance from the crack tip. Net SIF (KH + KM) computed, has been used for the crack growth analysis and remaining life prediction by Paris crack growth model. To validate the model, SIF and remaining life has been predicted for a pipe made up of (i) SA312 Type 304LN austenitic stainless steel and SA508 Gr. 3 Cl. 1. Low alloy carbon steel (ii) welded SA312 Type 304LN austenitic stainless-steel pipe. From the studies, it is observed that the model could predict the remaining life of DMWJ piping components with a maximum difference of 15% compared to experimental observations.

In the production power transmitting of a floating production system like a wind offshore floating, the power cable should be connected from the surface system into the subsea system. The connection between the surface and the subsea system will make the power cable get a dynamic load like current and wave forces. Based on this condition, a dynamic power cable is required to endure external physical force and vibration in the long-term condition. It needs more requirements than static power cable for mechanical fatigue properties to prevent failures during operations in marine environments where the external and internal loads work continuously. As a process to verify, the durability test of dynamic power cables under the marine operation environment condition was carried out by using domestic technology development.
Moving train load parameters, including train speed, axle spacing, gross train weight and axle weights, are identified based on strain-monitoring data. In this paper, according to influence line theory, the classic moving force identification method is enhanced to handle time-varying velocity of the train. First, the moments that the axles move through a set of fixed points are identified from a series of pulses extracted from the second derivative of the structural strain response. Subsequently, the train speed and axle spacing are identified. In addition, based on the fact that the integral area of the structural strain response is a constant under a unit force at a unit speed, the gross train weight can be obtained from the integral area of the measured strain response. Meanwhile, the corrected second derivative peak values, in which the effect of time-varying velocity is eliminated, are selected to distribute the gross train weight. Hence the axle weights could be identified. Afterwards, numerical simulations are employed to verify the proposed method and investigate the effect of the sampling frequency on the identification accuracy. Eventually, the method is verified using the real-time strain data of a continuous steel truss railway bridge. Results show that train speed, axle spacing and gross train weight can be accurately identified in the time domain. However, only the approximate values of the axle weights could be obtained with the updated method. The identified results can provide reliable reference for determining fatigue deterioration and predicting the remaining service life of railway bridges.

To improve ride quality and running stability of high speed train(HST), it is important that connection between coaches adopts the articulated bogies by using a gangway ring, unlike the conventional independent bogies assembled with car bodies. Although the gangway ring should be ensured absolute safety against passenger movement between coaches during train operation, there is still a lack of quantitative durability criteria of that. Therefore, in order to improve the passenger safety of HST, it is important to study the test requirements on durability evaluation for the ring. In this study, seven mixed loading cases were derived from the triaxial loading(vertical/lateral/longitudinal) modes. The safety factor of each component is at least 2.4 or more from the results of the finite element analysis. In addition, fatigue safety was evaluated through durability analysis from the viewpoint of strain-life design. Durability tests for the gangway ring carried out a total of 10 million cycles in 4 phases load conditions. After the durability test, the defect of each component was investigated using nondestructive testing techniques.
Purpose: This study aimed to predict the influencing factors and the consequences of near miss in nurses' medication error based upon Salazar & Primomo's ecological system theory. Methods: A convenience sample of 198 nurses was recruited for the cross-sectional survey design. Data were collected from July to September 2016. Using the collected data, the developed model was verified by structural equation modeling analysis using SPSS and AMOS program. Results: For the fitness of the hypothetical model, the results showed that $x^2$ ($x^2=258.50$, p<.001) was not fit, but standardized $x^2$ ($x^2/df=2.35$) was a good fit for this model. Additionally, absolute fit index RMR=.06, RMSEA=.08, GFI=.86, AGFI=.81 reached the recommended level, but the Incremental fit index TLI=.82, CFI=.85 was not enough to reach to the recommended level. With the path diagram of the hypothetical model, caution (${\beta}=-.29$ p<.001), patient safety culture (${\beta}=-.20$, p=.041), and work load (${\beta}=.18$, p=.037) had a significant effect on the near miss experiences in nurses' medication error, while fatigue (${\beta}=-.06$, p=.575) did not affect it. Moreover, the near miss experience had a significant effect on work productivity (${\beta}=-.25$, p=.001). Conclusion: These results have shown that to decrease the near miss experience by nurses and increase their work productivity in hospital environments would require both personal and organizational effort.
