고강도 강선의 인장 및 회전굽힘 피로특성 (Characteristic of Fatigue Properties with Tension and Bending Loading Using High Strength Steel Wire)

  • The overhead transmission wires operating both at warm temperature and tighten state for a long period of time in a power transmission plant are degraded by air pollution, wind, creep and slip between steel wire and aluminium conductor. The objective of this study is to investigate to investigate the characteristics of fatigue properties with tension and bending loading of a high carbon steel wire. The fatigue behaviors have been carried out by tension-tension, 4 points bending and 3 points bending loading. In the present study, a conventional fatigue strengths between 4 points bending and tension-tension fatigue were determined by Gerber, Sorderberg and Goodmans theory and we investigated S-N diagram for bending and tensile loading.

  • Fatigue strength. especially crack initiation behavior of high strength steel under marine water environment was investigated. Marine structures were usually constructed by lot of weld joints and were designed by basis of the fatigue strength of weld joints. This study was carried out to mini. The fatigue initiation behavior is more important rather than crack propagation behavior under the design of marine structures, because it is very difficult to find out the crack propagation phenomena and repair the damaged part of welded joints in sea water Then, the new configuration specimen for fatigue crack initiation tests was proposed. Using this new specimen, it is easy to carry out the crack initiation tests with relatively low cycling loading and clearly find out a crack initiation fatigue life.

  • A general purpose fatigue analysis software to predict fatigue lives of mechanical components and structures was developed. This software has some characteristic features including functions of searching weak regions on the free surface in order to reduce computing time significantly, a database of fatigue properties for various materials. and an expert system which can assist any users to get more proper results. This software can be used in the environment consists of commercial finite element packages. Using the software developed fatigue analyses for a SAE keyhole specimen and an automobile knuckle were carried out. It was observed that the results were agree well with those from commercial packages.

  • Recently, HIPS(High Impact Polystyrene) materials are spot-lighted as office equipment, home electronics, electronics appliances housing, packing containers, etc. But its using are occur to problem caused by fatigue fracture. However, its strength is larged affected by environmental conditions. So, in this paper it tried to analyze the effect of temperature by tensile test and fatigue test. It was observed that yield strength and ultimate strength, fatigue life of same stress decreased relatively with increase temperature. Further, this paper predict S-N curve using the result of tensile test and micro vickers hardness test. For this purpose, the management in the engineering department is able to design the fatigue life of HIPS(HR-1360) materials.

  • Induction surface hardening is widely used to enhance local strength and hardness. However, most research is only to have a focus on fatigue life and fatigue behavior is not so much studied. So, in this study, Cr-Mo steel alloy(SCM440) was used to show the effect of residual stress and micro hole on the fatigue strength for base metal and induction surface hardened specimen. In addition, the fatigue characteristic between surface hardened and fully hardened steel is somewhat different. It is caused by hardness distribution, residual stress and inclusions etc.. Crack origins are generally micro inclusions for the high strength steel. So, the distribution of inclusions is analyzed statistically.

  • The advanced piezoelectric ceramic composite actuator, which is called LIPCA with the FRP and the optimization of the laminate configuration, was performed to maximize the stress transfer and the fiber bridging effect. This study evaluated the effect of variable electric fields on the PZT characteristic, laminate configuration and fatigue characteristics under the resonance frequency, which meant the largest performance range and the changes of its interlaminar phase were also evaluated by stages. In conclusions, Comparing with the fatigue lift of intact LIPCA, the fatigue life of LIPCA embedded by the artificial delamination was decreased up to 50%. The micro void growth and the coalescence of epoxy were actively made at the interlaminar phase subject to the large tensile stress.

고온하에서의 스프링의 피로특성에 관한 연구 (A study on fatigue characteristics of spring under high-temperature)

  • The fatigue characteristic study of a Pony Coil spring is performed by considering the tropical service conditions in the range of 50.deg. C through 150.deg. C. The experiment results of the static and dynamic characteristics of the test pieces agreed with the result of the strain analysis by wittricke's method. The strain energy value is increased as temperature rises. An increase is 1.58% at 100.deg. C and 2.26% at 150.deg. C after fatigue tests. The elastic strain is also decreased as temperature rises.

  • The strength of material is scattered owing to the inhomogenity of microstructure, in spite of the same material. Therefore, in order to design the mechanical structure with the reliability engineering, it is important to grasp the statistic nature of material strength. In this paper, effects of grain sizes for the statistical nature of the fatigue crack growth was discussed. And the statistical of mechanical properties was compared with statistical nature of the fatigue crack growth rate.

  • Fitigue behavior of soil-cement based pavement due to repeatitive traffic loads is studied. Finite element method is employed to analyze the pavement system including base, subbase, and soil layers. The calculated stresses are then used to evaluate the fatigue life of a pavement system. For the study is needed to determine accurately the fatigue characteristic of various soil-cement systems.
