A Study on the Characteristics of Strategies and Fashion Styles in Fast Fashion (패스트 패션(Fast Fashion)의 전략적 특성과 패션 경향 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the main characteristics of strategies and fashion styles in fast fashion. Ultimately, this study is aimed to give useful information to develop fast fashion companies in Korean apparel industry. There are several strategies commonly applied in most fast fashion companies. First, they produce a wide range of numerous items. Second, the price is very reasonable. The primary objective of fast fashion is to quickly produce products in a cost efficient manner. Third, fast fashion companies take charge in the whole process from designing and manufacturing to distribution and sales. Forth, while almost all apparel companies invest a large amount in advertisement to promote sales, most fast fashion companies invest in VMD instead. Also, the fashion style of fast fashion were examined. First, casual style dominated a big part in composition of the entire style. Second, they use various kinds of different fabrics. For example, natural fabrics including organic and recycled fabrics, denims, newly invented high-tech fabrics, and decorative fabrics are widely used. Third, fast fashion brands produce fashion product based on the most recent fashion trends. Forth, they pursue high quality design. Retailers' understanding of the target market's wants realizes the consumer to thrive on constant change and the frequent availability of new products. Accordingly, fast fashion is presently taking an important role in fashion although it has a short history compared to the general apparel industry.

The Clothing Consumption Behavior of Fast Fashion Purchaser according to Environmental Consciousness (환경의식에 따른 패스트패션 구매자의 의복소비행동에 관한 연구)

  • This study investigates clothing consumption behavior of fast fashion purchasers according to environmental consciousness. Questionnaire examined 245 males and females in Busan who experienced fast fashion product purchases. Data were analyzed using factor analysis, t-test. ANOVA, Duncan Test and ${\chi}^{2}-test$. The results are as follows. First, the result showed significant differences in environmental consciousness education according to demographic characteristics. Second, the results showed significant differences in the hedonic pursuit of purchase motivation for fast fashion products according to environmental consciousness. The low environmental awareness group pursued hedonic purchases towards the purchase motivation of fast fashion products. The results showed significant differences in fast fashion disposal behavior according to environmental consciousness; however, not for the disposal motivation of fast fashion. In the disposal behavior of fast fashion, the high environmental awareness group indicated social friendly disposal and the middle environmental awareness group indicated economical disposal. The result showed significant gender differences towards clothing consumption behavior of fast fashion according to demographic characteristics. Males and females showed significant differences in all purchase motivation factor for fast fashion products. They also showed significant differences in economical disposal towards fast fashion disposal behavior.

  • Fast fashion is widely accepted in young generation who are eager to the new fashion trends. With the consumers' rapid adoption of fast fashion, fashion retailers have tried to adopt strategies to reflect current and emerging trends as quickly as possible and effectively in current merchandise assortment, raises important issues with respect to the processes of effective merchandise management. However, the concept of fast fashion has not been academically investigated and developed properly yet. Therefore, this study mainly reviewed secondary data such as leading fast fashion companies' website, newspaper articles and Zara's case study which covers fast fashion issues. Fast fashion gets widely spreading in market, current investigation showed that domestic fashion companies have adopted fast fashion concept in early stage. This study tried to examine characteristics and strategies used by fast fashion businesses to provide domestic fashion industry with valuable information of production and marketing strategies. Suggestions through the result are as follows: 1. Fast fashion requires flexible managing systems such as SCM, QRS and JIT in order to promote efficient production and assortment management from the entire supply chain. 2. Domestic fast fashion companies should build up not only quality of good design but also reasonable price and strengthen marketing strategies in order to compete with abroad fashion companies 3. Fashion companies that succeed in satisfying consumer's desire for new trend show that it has been successful their strategy to make market area wider to the world not focusing on domestic market.

The antecedents of purchasing fast fashion brands (패스트 패션 브랜드 구매의 선행변수)

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the antecedents of the attitudes toward purchasing fast fashion brands and the frequency of purchasing fast fashion brands. As antecedents, a few brand-related variables and a consumer-related variable were considered. Perceived perishability, perceived scarcity, perceived quality, and perceived low price were included as brand-related variables and congruity between self image and fast fashion brand image was included as a consumer-related variable. It was hypothesized that both brand-related and consumer-related variables directly influence the attitudes toward purchasing fast fashion brands and then influence the frequency of purchasing fast fashion brands. Data were gathered by surveying university students in Seoul, using convenience sampling. Two hundred twenty seven questionnaires were used in the statistical analysis, exploratory factor analysis using SPSS and confirmatory factor analysis and path analysis using AMOS. The results showed that all the fit indices for the variable measures were quite acceptable. In addition, the overall fits of the model suggest that the model fits the data well. The hypothesized relationship test proved that perceived perishability, perceived quality, and congruity between self image and fast fashion brand image influence the attitudes toward purchasing fast fashion brands and then influence the frequency of purchasing fast fashion brands. The results suggest some effective marketing strategies for marketers in the fast fashion industry.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the differences in clothing selection criteria and store selection criteria between each consumer groups by the preference for fast fashion. The data was collected from a questionnaire conducted on 317 female adults. The results were as follows. First, the factor analysis used to identify clothing selection criteria involved the following four factors: fashion, quality/practicality, status symbol, and economics. The consumer group preferring fast-fashion regarded fashion and economics as important factors and the non-preferring group regarded status symbol factor more. Second, five factors(atmosphere, product service/salesperson, shopping convenience, promotion/facilities) of store selection criteria were constructed by factor analysis, The consumer group preferring fast-fashion regarded atmosphere and product as important factors and the non-preferring group considered service/salesperson and promotion/facilities factors more. Third, the consumers who were of low age, low education, low income and unmarried preferred fast fashion brand.

The influence of consumption values on fast fashion brand purchases (소비가치가 패스트 패션 브랜드 구매에 미치는 영향)

  • Fast fashion brand marketers should develop marketing strategies that effectively satisfy the values consumers seek when purchasing fast fashion brands. This study aimed to identify the consumption value factors of fast fashion brands and to reveal the value factors that influence attitudes toward purchasing fast fashion brands. Data were gathered by surveying university students in the Seoul metropolitan area using convenience sampling. Three hundred and five questionnaires were used in the statistical analysis, which consisted of exploratory factor analysis using SPSS and confirmatory factor analysis and path analysis using AMOS. The factor analysis revealed the following six value factors: Emotional value, social value, price/value for money, durability value, eco-value, and consistency value. The fit statistic for the six-factor model was quite acceptable. Two of the six value factors, emotional value and price/value for money, positively influenced attitudes toward purchasing fast fashion brands. The overall fits of the revealed model suggested that the model fit the data well. The results suggested that fast fashion marketers need to understand the value factors that motivate consumers to purchase fast fashion brands. In addition, marketers should focus their efforts on satisfying emotional value and price/value for money in order to establish their brands in the increasingly competitive fast fashion industry.

Shopping Orientation and Clothing Benefit Sought by the Preference for Fast-Fashion

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the differences in shopping orientation and clothing benefit sought of a group of consumers according to the preference for fast-fashion. Data were collected from a questionnaire conducted on 416 female adults. The results were as follows. First. the factor analysis used to identify shopping orientation involved the following five factors: hedonic. economic. convenient. brand-oriented. and relation-oriented. The dimensions of the clothing benefit sought consisted of fashion. social status. practicality. figure flaw compensation. and sex appeal. Second. the differences in shopping orientation and clothing benefit sought according to the preference for fast-fashion were identified using a t-test. The consumer group preferring fast-fashion exhibited a hedonic. convenient shopping orientation. and the non-preferring group exhibited an economic. brand-oriented shopping orientation. The consumer group preferring fast-fashion pursued fashion and sex appeal clothing benefits. and the non-preferring group pursued social status and practicality clothing benefits.

  • This paper suggests the product supply process model based on the store and production capacity, assortment planning and quick response for fast fashion retailers with BPMN. In the fast fashion industry, the standardized business process model is required to respond quickly market trends and customer requirements based on the quantitative and qualitative criteria. Thus we define the product supply processes which incorporate forecasting and assortment plan, cost and profitability of the production, store capacity based on the visual merchandising, and production capacity of the fast fashion retailers. Also we design the key performance indicators to evaluate the effectiveness of these product supply processes. The product supply process model for the fast fashion has great significance in embracing the fast fashion product development process because it presents the holistic view of the product supply process of the fast fashion and provides a performance evaluation mechanism. A case study shows that adopting the processes, a Korean fast fashion company achieves improvement in various performance indicators.

  • Fast Fashion (fast fashion) is to reflect the latest trends and quickly create an immediate and quick with words related to clothing to distribute immediately reflect the latest fashion design, a relatively low cost, rapid product turnover means to succeed in fashion or business. The popularity of fast fashion is growing in the recent domestic fashion market. In this study, fast-fashion consumers' purchasing behavior recognition for brand identification and brand personality, brand reputation and brand identification, brand attitude, and affect the relationship between customer loyalty will be discussed. The results of this study can be summarized as follows. First, In this study, based on existing studies, brand personality and brand identification through a process that affects customer loyalty reaffirmed. Second, the 5 dimensions of brand personality and brand identification of the factors found by the sophistication and unique. Third, the brand's reputation in the brand identification had a significant impact. Fourth, brand identification, brand attitude and the impact on customer loyalty was significant.
