In this paper, optical sensor system using PSD(Position Sensitive Detection) is proposed to obtain the three dimensional position of moving markers attached to human body. To find the coordinates of an moving marrer with stereo vision system, two different sight rays of an moving marker are required. Usually, those are acquired with two optical sensors synchronized at the same time. PSD sensor is used to measure the position of an incidence light in real-time. To get the three-dimension position of light source on moving markers, a conventional camera calibration method are used. In this research, we realized a low cost motion capture system. The proposed system shows high three-dimension measurement accuracy and fast sampling frequency.

Long-term unexecuted urban parks will be released from urban planning facilities after 2020, this may result in development of those parks. However, little research have been focused on how to develop those parks considering conservation, development, spatial pattern, and so on. Therefore, in this study, we suggested an optimization planning model that minimizes the fragmentation while maximizing the conservation and development profit using ACO (Ant Colony Optimization). Our study area is Suwon Yeongheung Park, which is long-term unexecuted urban parks and have actual plan for private development in 2019. Using our optimization planning model, we obtained four alternatives(A, B, C, D), all of which showed continuous land use patterns and satisfied the objectives related to conservation and development. Each alternative are optimized based on different weight combinations of conservation, development, and fragmentation, and we can also generated other alternatives immediately by adjusting the weights. This is possible because the planning process in our model is very fast and quantitative. Therefore, we expected our optimization planning model can support "spatial decision making" of various issue and sites.

Restoration of historical documents and arts has become important to inherit cultural properties. Most of historical documents were recorded on paper. Therefore, restoration of ancient papers is demanded and techniques for this purpose must be developed and sophisticated. In our study, several nondestructive methods for analyzing ancient paper have been developed. Image analysis using fast Fourier transform with suitable modifications was applied to optical micrographs of traditionally-handmade Korean and Japanese papers. This analysis determines the angle and anisotropy of fiber orientation of paper surfaces. Fiber orientation of traditionally-handmade Korean and Japanese papers was found to show their own characteristics in accordance with the motion of a papermaking screen made of bamboo splints. Consequently, the information on fiber orientation was found to be possible to distinguish the flow-sheet forming typical of Japanese paper and still-sheet forming typical of Korean paper. Moreover, the anisotropy was always higher for the screen side than for the top side, thus meaning that surface fiber orientation is possible to distinguish the two sides of paper of which papermaking history is unknown. An application of this technique to actual historical documents evidenced that wrapping papers were used as envelops with a lateral side up, namely, after rotating 90 degrees. A variety of cultural habits in writing letters was revealed by discrimination of the two sides.
This paper studies network recovery methods for WDM optical mesh networks, concentrating on improving spare resource utilization. The resource efficiency can be obtained by sharing spare resources needed for network recovery. To improve the sharability of spare resources in WDM networks, methods to share backup paths us well as spare capacity should be studied. The proposed method in this paper uses multiple ring-covers and this method provides fast and simple recovery operation by exploiting the characteristics of logical ring topology, and also provides efficient resource utilization by using multiple distributed backup paths to improve the sharability of overall spare resources in the networks. This method can provide layered reliability to network service by enabling hierarchical robustness against multiple failures. The performance results show that the proposed method provide improved resource efficiency for single failure and enhanced robustness for multiple failures.

This study was carried out not only to identify the optimum concentrations of sulfur powder and citric acid treated for improving arsenic absorption of Pteris multifuda known as hyperaccumulator of arsenic, but also to develop arsenic purification model in the forest soil. After applying sulfur powder (0, 30, 45, $60g{\cdot}m^{-2}$) and citric acid (0, 200, 400, $800g{\cdot}m^{-2}$) in the forest soil contaminated with heavy metals, P. multifuda was planted and cultivated for 16 weeks. And then the growth and arsenic contents of plants were analyzed. In the result of research, the growth of P. mulifuda, except plant width, cultivated in soils treated with sulfur powder and citric acid was relatively lower than control. The accumulated amount of arsenic in aerial parts of P. multifuda ($1822.2mg{\cdot}kg^{-1}$) cultivated in soils treated with $200g{\cdot}m^{-2}$ citric acid was improved 62.5% against the control. And the accumulated amount of arsenic per 1 $m^2$ ($20.1mg{\cdot}m^{-2}$) was the greatest in $200g{\cdot}m^{-2}$ citric acid treatment. Translocation rate (TR) was higher in all acid treatment compare to control, and was the best in $200g{\cdot}m^{-2}$ citric acid treatment (0.95) especially. It showed that the arsenic absorbed in underground parts was transferred fast to aerial parts. Therefore, $200g{\cdot}m^{-2}$ citric acid treatment in the soil is recommended for arsenic purification using P. multifuda.
A constructed sea stream in Yeongdo, Busan, Republic of Korea is mostly static due to the lifted stream bed and tidal characters, and receives domestic wastewater nearby, causing a consistent odor production and water quality degradation. Bioaugmentation of a microbial consortium was proposed as an effective and economical restoration technology to restore the polluted stream. The microbial consortium activated on site was augmented on a periodic basis (7~10 days) into the most polluted site (Site 2) which was chosen considering the pollution level and tidal movement. Physicochemical parameters of water qualities were monitored including pH, temperature, DO, ORP, SS, COD, T-N, and T-P. COD and microbial community analyses of the sediments were also performed. A significant reduction in SS, COD, T-N, and COD (sediment) at Site 2 occurred showing their removal rates 51%, 58% and 27% and 35%, respectively, in 13 months while T-P increased by 47%. In most of the test sites, population densities of sulfate reducing bacterial (SRB) groups (Desulfobacteraceae_uc_s, Desulfobacterales_uc_s, Desulfuromonadaceae_uc_s, Desulfuromonas_g1_uc, and Desulfobacter postgatei) and Anaerolinaeles was observed to generally decrease after the bioaugmentation while those of Gamma-proteobacteria (NOR5-6B_s and NOR5-6A_s), Bacteroidales_uc_s, and Flavobacteriales_uc_s appeared to generally increase. Aerobic microbial communities (Flavobacteriaceae_uc_s) were dominant in St. 4 that showed the highest level of DO and least level of COD. These microbial communities could be used as an indicator organism to monitor the restoration process. The alpha diversity indices (OTUs, Chao1, and Shannon) of microbial communities generally decreased after the augmentation. Fast uniFrac analysis of all the samples of different sites and dates showed that there was a similarity in the microbial community structures regardless of samples as the augmentation advanced in comparison with before- and early bioaugmentation event, indicating occurrence of changing of the indigenous microbial community structures. It was concluded that the bioaugmentation could improve the polluted water quality and simultaneously change the microbial community structures via their niche changes. This in situ remediation technology will contribute to an eco-friendly and economically cleaning up of polluted streams of brine water and freshwater.

In this paper, we propose a illumination environment adaptive real-time surveillance system for security of important area such as military bases, prisons, and strategic infra structures. The proposed system recognizes movement of objects on the bright environments as well as in dark illumination. The procedure of proposed system may be summarized as follows. First, the system discriminates between bright and dark with input image distribution. Then, if the input image is dark, the system has a pre-processing. The Multi-scale Retinex Color Restoration(MSRCR) is processed to enhance the contrast of image captured in dark environments. Secondly, the enhanced input image is subtracted with the revised background image. And then, we take a morphology image processing to obtain objects correctly. Finally, each bounding box enclosing each objects are tracked. The center point of each bounding box obtained by the proposed algorithm provides more accurate tracking information. Experimental results show that the proposed system provides good performance even though an object moves very fast and the background is quite dark.
Two-component epoxy resin is widely used in the cultural heritage restoration field. However according to mixing ratio of resin and hardener, curing property, mechanical strength and chemical structure differ which have possibility to effect the stability of cultural heritage. Result of questionnaire survey shows hands-on workers in the conservation field tend to mix the epoxy resin with his or her eye measurement when the using amount is small or mix additional hardener to shorten the pot life of epoxy resin. This research aims to analyze the curing property, mechanical strength and chemical structure of rapid curing type epoxy resin and medium curing type one depending on relative ratio of 0.25~4 of hardener to resin. When the amount of hardener was 0.5~2 times more than the resin, exothermic heat and curing speed were both increased. In case of included hardener to resin was lower than official ratio, mechanical strength (tensile shear strength, tensile strength and compressive strength) became higher along with active cross-linking bonding of the epoxy resin. Medium curing type epoxy relatively had lower exothermic heat and slower reaction during curing process. It was observed to be put to definite point of mechanical strength under lower content of hardener than official ratio. While, hardener ratio more than twice the resin slowed down the curing greatly and lowered the adhesion strength also. In conclusion, under the lower mixing rate of hardener than official ratio would show relatively fast reaction with similar mechanical strength. Over the official ratio on the other hand, material property drops rapidly. Accordingly, mixing ratio of epoxy resin is expected to be influential to the stability of cultural heritage.

The use of fishway has been investigated up to 2~9 years, continuously each month and over the long term that installed in 6 domestic rivers. The fish's use of fishway has been investigated as direct collection by trap in exit section of the fishway. The population structure of fish using 6 fishway and the fish that live in the river showed difference. About 2 to 7 species of fish took possession of more than 80% of total use of fish in fishways. This seems to be not the results of attraction flow in fishway but specialized result of physiology characteristic followed by species of fish. In addition, the distribution of fish species using fishway was different with the fishways installed in river. This difference seems to be consequence of the place that of the river and fishway types. Generally, the fish species were less and had high ratio of home migratory fish in vertical slot type fishway, which shows relatively fast velocity of water flow. This analysis result of major fish species using fishway can be used in planning fishway and to choose major targeted species for the planning.
In this paper, the quantization noise in block-based video coding is analyzed, and a post-processing method based on the analysis is presented for reducing the quantization noise by using a wavelet transform(WT). In the proposed method, the quantization noise is considered as the sum of a blocking noise expressed as a deterministic profile and the random remainder noise. Each noise is removed in a viewpoint of image restoration using a 1-D WT, which yields a regularized differentiation. The blocking noise first is reduced by weakening the strength of each blocking noise component that appears as an impulse in the first scale wavelet domain. The impulse strength estimation is performed using median filter, quantization parameter(QP), and local activity. The remainder noise, which is considered as a white noise at non-edge pixels, then is reduced by soft-thresholding. The experimental results show that the proposed method yields better performance in terms if subjective quality as well as PSNR performance over VM post-filter in MPEG-4 for all test sequences of various compression ratios. We also present a fast post-processing in spatial domain equivalent to that in wavelet domain for real-time application.
