  • The present study has been conducted to simulate dynamics of a gas engine-driven heat pump(GHP) for design of control algorithm. The dynamic modeling of a GHP was based on conservation laws of mass and energy. For automatic control of refrigerant pressures, actuators such as engine speed, outdoor fan, coolant three-way valves and liquid injection valve were PI or P controlled. The simulation results showed physical behavior that is realistic enough to apply for control algorithm design.

  • The aim of this paper is to design a centrifugal deformation error compensation method with guaranteed performance that allows angular velocity measurement of the magnetically suspended sensitive gyroscopes (MSSGs). The angular velocity measurement principle and the structure of the MSSG are described, and the analytical model of errors caused by MSSG rotor centrifugal deformation is established. Then, an on-line rotor centrifugal deformation error compensation method based on measurement of rotor spinning speed in real-time has been designed. The common issues caused by centrifugal deformation of spinning rotors can be effectively resolved by the proposed method. Comparative experimental results before and after compensation demonstrate the validity and superiority of the error compensation method.

  • In this work, alkyl methacrylate-based microgels were synthesized by an experimental design method, and their sebum absorption characteristics were investigated. The results of fractional factorial experimentation indicated that the cross-linking agent content, solvent content, and stirring speed were the main parameters in the synthesis of the microgels. The suitable synthesis conditions were determined by the response surface design method. Through a study of the monomer and solvent effects, it was confirmed that the microgel shows the highest sebum absorption ratio when t-butyl methacrylate is used as a monomer or when acetone is used as a solvent. The optimal microgel synthesis conditions for cosmetic application were determined, and the resulting microgel had a mean particle size of 4.7 μm and a sebum absorption ratio of 435%.

  • In this paper, fuzzy logic based active ventilation system with security function is proposed and implemented. We can easily experience the situation that inner air is so hot to get start immediately after parking at summer day. Hot temperature is enough to explode a gas lighter or to suffocate a little chid. Proposed system has 1 blower and 2 axial fans to ventilate inner air. Based on the fuzzy logic, speed and direction of each fan are controlled. In addition to controlling fans, controller put down windows and adjust the periods of open time. In order to prevent the theft and security problems, IR sensors are used to detect objects. On detecting objects, controller put up windows. Experimental result shows that implemented system can be effectively ventilate inner air and reduce temperature. Proposed system can be applicable to commercial automobiles.

  • In the introduction, this paper introduces LS Industrial Systems' medium-voltage drive installed at Hyundai Green Power, an 800MW gas power plant. In the body, it explains the synchronous transfer technology and new speed search technology applied to Forced Draft(FD) Fan and Boiler Feed-water(BF) Pump, which are power generation facilities. Lastly, it shows the annual energy saving amount and operation status which are applied to each facility and proves that it is a successful application case.

  • The purpose of tunnel ventilation system for long road tunnels is to keep certain levels of Visibility Index and the concentration of CO. Additional equipments such as jet fans are used in road tunnel to discharge pollutants in the road tunnel. The control algorism of tunnel ventilation system takes the value of sensors as input, and then gives the operation method of jet fans in tunnel as output. Information on the variation of CO concentration in tunnel when jet fans are running is needed to minimize their operation time. Numerical analysis is used in this paper because of the difficulty of conducting experiments under standard condition for ventilation of road tunnel. The concentration of CO has been calculated by using 3-dimensional CFD under transient condition with speed of cars, quantity of air ventilation, and the results for various operation position of jet fans are compared.

  • The fault detection and diagnosis (FDD) technology may be applied in order to decrease the energy consumption and the maintenance cost of the air conditioning system. In this study, rule bases and curve fitting models were used to detect faults in an air handling unit. Gradually progressed faults, such as the fan speed degradation, the coil water leakage, the humidifier nozzle clogging, the sensor degradation and the damper stoppage, were applied to the developed FBD system. Simulation results show good detections and diagnoses of these faults. Therefore, this method may be effectively used for the fault detection and diagnosis of the air handling unit.

  • The comming of high speed computers with large memory size in recent years has allowed the practical development of codes which solve the Reynolds-averaged NAvier-Stokes (RANS) equations in three dimensions. Such codes are already used by the large engine manufacturers for the advanced design of some engine components. Different computational fluid dynamics approaches and turbulence models exist, and it seems essential today to establish their degree of validity for application to typical configurations in turbomachinery. In 1993 the Turbomachinery Committee of the IGTI of ASME has issued an open invitation to predict the flow details of an isolated transonic fan rotor called as NASA ROTOR 37. This paper reports this test case.

  • The NdBaCuO superconducting samples were prepared by the Zone melting under low oxygen partial pressure. After the zone-melting the oxygenation process of the NdBaCuO samples in a oxygen flow furnace was studied. In order to compare the oxygenation condition the sintering NdBaCuO samples were studied also. In the study it is found that the optimum temperature for the oxygenation is $350{\circ}C$, and the oxygen flow speed, the sample volume and the surface area of the sample would if1uence the oxygenation and the oxygen content.

  • Experiments were carried out to evaluate the air speed distribution of an enclosed nursery pig bay in summer and winter. The data taken by experiments were compared to validate with the calculated air speeds by a commercial CFD code, FLUENT. Air basically enters into the bay through perforated circular ducts overhanged on the ceiling, leaves through a exhaust fan attached on the end-wall of the bay. Air speeds were measured as 2 ${\sim}$ 2.5 mls at the perforated holes in the duct in winter and 7 mls in summer. The validation showed that a CFD simulaton is one of feasible methods to predict airspeed distribution in the nursery pig bay.
