Cooling equipment is the frequent occurrence of fire despite the absence of the heating element. National fire statistics in 2013 show that a total of 263 fires occurred in the cooling equipment and the number of electric fan has 145 fire cases. This is accounted for 55.1% of the whole. Electric fan is the electrical appliance that the heat is generated on the winding wire and the iron core. If such characteristic is not controled properly, fire would break out at the electric fan. also there is a gap filled with an insulator between connection terminals of the capacitor in the electric fan. But in case that the gap on the capacitor is covered with some conductive material such as dust, there would be a fire as well caused by electrical heating locally. Although many studies related with those have been conducted, electric fan fire is continuously occurred. In this study, thermal characteristics and current signal in various conditions such as the heat generation of windings including iron cores of the motor and the dielectric breakdown of terminals on the capacitor connected to the motor were detected. In order to measure the maximum temperature, "third level" wind velocity button was pushed and the time selection switch to "continuation" was set. Analyzed data would be available for the fire safety of the electric fan.

This paper deals with the effects of welding, which is done to fix the stator stack, on a motor in case of fabricating a prototype motor that is manufactured in a small quantity. In the case of a small motor, the stator is designed and fabricated with the segmented core as a way to raise the fill factor of winding wire to the utmost within a limited size. In case of fabrication by welding both inside and outside of the stator in order to fix the segmented-core stator, the effects of stack are ignored, and the eddy current loss occurs. This paper performed the no-load test on an IPM-type BLDC motor for driving the suction fan of a vacuum cleaner, which was manufactured by using a segmented-core stator. As a result of the test, it was found that input power more than expected was supplied. To analyze the effects of welding by using the finite element analysis method and verify them experimentally, a stator was re-manufactured by bonding, and input power supplied during the no-load test was compared.

This paper proposes analysis and suppression method for reactive power vibration of the slave motor caused by back-EMF mismatch between the master and the slave motor and stator resistance during middle-low speed operation. The master and slave motors are parallel connected dual SPMSMs(Surface mounted Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors) fed by a single inverter. To suppress vibration of reactive power, RPC(Reactive Power Compensator) proposed in this paper analyzes flux-axis current vibration of the slave motor that occurs in middle-low speed operation using a mathematical model of the fan motor. And RPC adds vibration components detected from flux-axis current of the slave motor to flux-axis current of the master motor. The results of experiment conducted verify the efficacy of the proposed method.

AC induction motors have been widely used for fan motor of the air conditioner indoor unit. Noise of these AC induction motors is usually caused by the coupling effects of structural and electrical systems. The rotating torque and the noise from AC induction motor were discussed in this paper,. First, the modification of motor was carried out in order to reduce the unbalance magneto motive force between main and sub winding. Second, structural modification based on normal mode analysis and modal testing was carried out so that the fan motor does not have the natural frequencies near the 2f-line frequency. Numerical modifications through these two processes were verified by experiments, which showed that the sound pressure level at 2f-line frequency of the modified system became about 25dB less than that of conventional one.
This paper is aimed to find electrical fire danger for analyzing the characteristics of temperature, current and voltage signals for motor on electric fan. In order to attain this purpose, detected were the temperature, current and voltage signals on electric wire with free (normal state) and locked (abnormal state) motor. For voltage and current signals, voltage signal is no big difference with normal and abnormal states and current signal is higher in abnormal state (highest 309 mA) than the normal state (highest 203 mA). In the case of Temperature signal, the temperature distribution of the motor as a whole is different. It is difference in the case of the normal state $4^{\circ}C$ and the abnormal state $18^{\circ}C$. In particular, most of the electric wiring to the motor of the fan is attached to the fixture of motor back. Considering at allowable temperature ($60^{\circ}C$) of the electric wire could be accelerated to insulation deterioration. The results of this study will be effectively used in analyzing for electric fire and developing the preventive devices of electric fan.

The rare earth output is concentrated in limited number of countries including China. Also the necessity for development of non-rare earth motor is getting signified due to the rapid increase of rare earth price and resource weaponizing policies. Non-rare earth motor is generally designed as spoke type PMSM (Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor) in order to maximize the power density. Such spoke type PMSM has advantage in concentrating the flux but demonstrates lower efficiency compared to permanent magnet using Nd (Neodymium) permanent magnet. Therefore, applications with strong necessity for efficiency need rotor structure having improved efficiency compared to spoke type PMSM. Hence, this study suggested fan-shape type PMSM with somewhat lower power density but maximized efficiency. Fan-shape type PMSM is a rotor shape demonstrating outstanding reduction of iron loss compared to existing spoke type. Thus, this study analyzed the improvement of efficiency and reduction of loss arising from the suggested shape through parameter calculation.

We studied the temperature distribution and heat transfer characteristics of TEFC induction motor with thermal network program for more efficient design and better cooling performance of it. We knew the characteristics and the windage loss of outer cooling fan from fan test experiments. Frame axial and peripheral heat transfer coefficients and endwinding heat transfer coefficient were measured by various model experiments and then, compared with other experimental results. Frame was the main heat transfer surface, load-side and fan-side surface were not thermally symmetric from the heat flux distribution analysis. Steady and unsteady temperature distributions were measured by real motor experiments. From the results, we knew that rotor surface temperature was higher than coil temperature and the hottest spot in the coil was loadside endwinding outside surface. We compared the simulation results with those of real motor test and the two results showed a good agreement.

This paper presents a developed squirrel cage induction motor for axial flow In. Nearly all of the induction motors for fan consists of two parts, rotor and stator, and the position of rotor is located inside of stator. This construction restricts the air flow rate, otherwise requires bending duct. But developed squirrel cage induction motor for axial flow fan exchanged the position each other. So, we can reduce the weight and size about 30%, and there are no bending duct to locate the fan motor.

The objective of this paper is to provide a comparison between the Line Start Permanent Magnet, Skeleton type Brushless DC, and the Snail-cam type Switched Reluctance Motor. These motors are compared under the same load characteristic as the cooling fan motor of a refrigerator. The comparison consists of speed, output power, efficiency, copper loss, and cost for three different motors. For the given application, the results provide an indication of the best machine suited with respect to performance and cost.

In this paper, we researched the heat transfer analysis of 1.2[kW] BLDC motor on the condition of the external flow. The BLDC motor is fallen under influence of some heat generated by rotationg motor speed and it changes the life and confidence of motor. The heat makes to reduce the life of insulation and the magnetization. So motor can't make own performance. Therefore we calculated the losses about number of revolutions of motor. And then, we analyzed the heat transfer of BLDC motor by using the results when a fan attached to motor makes the external flow or not. The results showed that the temperature of motor increased constant values irrespective of external air temperature. The temperature of motor decreased very lower values than prior researches when the fan makes the external flow. In this method we can analyze the performance, losses and heat transfer of motor applied in the many industries.
