The principal objective of this study was to determine the influence of physical evidence's performance on perception of value at family restaurants in Seoul. Frequency analysis, t-test, ANOVA, reliability analysis, factor analysis, multiregression analysis were employed to analyze the data. The physical evidence was divided into 3 factors. Factor 1, 'matters related to appearances and decoration'; and Factor 3, matters related to atmosphere' differed significantly with monthly pocket money. However, all factors differed significantly by partner. Additionally, all factors positively(+) influenced customer's perception of value. In particular, factor 1, 'matters related to appearances and decoration' was the most positive factor. As a result, physical evidence can be regarded as efficient marketing tactic by which the intangible factors of restaurant-business may be removed. Therefore, food-service companies should endeavor to manage physical evidence ideally as a means of reducing the negative characteristics of service toward customers and inducing customers perceptions of value at family restaurants.
The purpose of this study was to examine the factors related to adolescence' post-sexual assault attitudes and behaviors. 906 students from 5girls high schools completed self-reported questionnaires. Independent variables are sexual attitudes, rape myth acceptance, perceived importance of sexuality education, parent sexuality education, parent closeness, parent superintendence, family functioning and socioeconomic variables. The data were analyzed by Factor Analysis, Correlation Analysis, Stepwise Multiple Regression Analysis using SPSS program. The significant influencing factors were home sexuality education, perceived necessity & importance of sexuality education, parent closeness, parent superintendence, family functioning, grade, vocational school, rape myth(rapists are mentally ill, dating partner would not be rapist. rapists are stranger), sexual attitudes(sexual permissiveness, gender equality, family planning, STDs & prostitution, marriage and divorce and abortion), and dating experience. Examination of barriers to post-sexual assault coping behaviors and attitudes is critical component of victim recovery and rape prevention. This study would gives basic information to the effective prevention and coping program development related to sexual assault.
This study examines work and family life of married women employed in a manufacturing industry. Data were gathered from the use of fact-to-face interview method from a sample of 230 married working women. The major findings of this study can be summarized as follows : (1) With high rates of change of job, most of the respondents remain unstable in their working situation. It was shown that the important factors influencing job satisfaction of married women are women's life cycle, degree of contribution of wife's income toward total family income, and husband's attitude toward wife's empolyment. The degree of job satisfaction is also strongly influenced by labor structural factors such as pay, work environment and fringe benefits. (2) The amount of household labor time was limited by job-related factors rather than by family-related factors, because among these working women employment itself is necessarily for their subsistance. (3) It was shown that wives participated more actively in their marital communications than their husbands. Most of the respondents showed the syncratic type of the decision making patterns, but this results does not necessarily mean wives exercised an equal power with their husbands. The economic factors and the emotional instability of the husband are the ones mostly influencing marital conflicts of the employed women. It was found that the respondents easily revealed marital conflicts related to personal problems of their husbands(such as extramarital affairs, gambling and alchoholism). However, they tried to overcome the structural conflicts related to authoritarian attitudes of their husbands or economic problems without any complaints. (4) Mothers have difficulty in controlling their adolescent children, due to the weakening of parental authority. Although most of the respondents perceived their employment as having negative impacts on their children, they still have high expectations toward their children. Inspite of low degree of father role expectations and facther role performance of their husbands, most of the respondents anticipated expressive roles as well as traditionally instrumental role from their husbands. Finally, these findings would help us determine family welfare policies in Korea. Improvements in paid and household labor structure of married women should be accomplished at the national level. Also, the acting programs for parent education, marital councelling services, and law enforcement for equal employment between men and women should be provided in our society.
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate the acceptance of family diversity among college students and related variables. Method: Data were collected by a structured questionnaire with 280 students who attended in three universities located in J province. SPSS Statistics Program version 24.0 was used to analyze the collected data. To answer the research questions, descriptive statistics, t-test, F-test, Pearson's correlation analyses, and regression analyses were performed. Results: The major results of the survey were summarized as below. First, the acceptance of family diversity among college students was slightly higher than the middle level(M=12.11). Most students accepted nuclear family as a typical family. More than half of the students accepted single parent families, adaptive families, step families, unmarried mother families, childless couples, homosexual families, elderly women living alone, and families composed of siblings as a family. Second, there was a significant difference by religiosity. Students without religion were higher than their counterparts with religion in a level of family diversity acceptance. Among the individual factors, third, a level of traditional family value had a significant negative effect on a level of family diversity acceptance. And perspective taking had a positive effect on a level of family diversity acceptance. Fourth, among the family factors, parent-child open communication did not affect a level of family diversity acceptance. However, parents' gender egalitarian beliefs had a significant positive effect on a level of family diversity acceptance. Lastly, regarding the relative effects of the personal and family factors, the traditional family value had the largest effect on a level of family diversity acceptance among college students. Conclusions: Base on these results, the implications and limitations of the study were discussed.
The purpose of this study was to investigate how work-family spillover differed by employment status of married women and to identify factors related to the differences. This study drew a sample of 332 self-employers, 181 unpaid family workers, and 1,053 wage workers from the 2014 Korean Longitudinal Survey of Women and Families. It was found that negative work-family spillover did not differ by employment status of married women. However, positive work-family spillover was found the lowest in family workers. The regression analysis showed that the difference remained after controlling socio-demographic characteristics, average working hours, and the number of days off per week. The factors related to negative spillover were age, the presence of young children, working hours, and the number of days off. Findings from this study suggest that family workers are most disadvantaged in terms of work-family spillover. Yet there is no policy developed for them. Family policy needs to take them into account in planning and implementing services.
This study explores whether or not marriage and other family values operate as factors that influence the willingness of women to voluntarily remain ever-single. The study includes as variables the sub-fields of marriage and family values that consist of traditional gender role awareness, freedom in sexual attitude, open outlook on marriage, familism, an acceptance of diverse families, fear of marriage, and assignment of value to extramarital factors. Participants of this study were 259 women in their twenties to forties with no experience of marriage, which were selected from the data used in the Korean Women's Development Institute's Investigation of Single Households(2007). Upon inserting value-related variables and sociodemographic variables into a binomial logistic model for analysis, age, open outlook on marriage, assigned value on extramarital factors, and an acceptance of diverse families were shown to be factors influencing the willingness of women to remain ever-single. That is, as the age spectrum is lower, outlook on marriage is open, more values are granted on the extramarital factors, and the degree of an acceptance of diverse views on family is higher, the chances that women would remain ever-single voluntarily were shown to increase.
The purpose of this study was to explore the effects of family life stress and family values on marital stability among middle-aged couples. The subjects included a total of 302 men and women aged 45-64 who had been married for more than 20 years and were living in Seoul. The collected data were statistically analyzed with the SPSS 21.0 Package. First, Cronbach's alpha was calculated to measure the reliability of the scale that assessed the variables of the research model. Then, mean and standard deviation were calculated to determine the degrees of family life stress, family values, and marital stability among the subjects. Finally, a hierarchical multiple regression analysis was performed to identify factors that affected the subjects' marital stability. The results revealed that the level of family life stress in middle-aged married men and women was slightly higher than the mean value. Of all the sub-scales of family life stress, the subjects were found to experience the most stress from factors related to financial pressure, followed by family relationships, a sense of loss within a family, and work-family compatibility. Therefore, financial problems were one of the critical stressors for middle-aged married couples. Also, for this demographic, the levels of family values and marital stability were higher than the medians. The factors affecting marital stability in middle-aged couples were identified to be family relationship stress, financial stress, subjective economic status, family values, stress related to work-familycompatibility,religion,andage.Thedegreeofmaritalstabilitywashigherinmiddle-agedcouplesa stheirstresslevelsfromfamilyrelationshipsandfinancialproblemswerelower.Moreover,thehigherthes ubjectiveeconomicstatusandthemoretraditionalthefamilyvalues,thehigherthedegreeofmaritalstabili ty.Finally,marriedcoupleswhowerereligioushadalowerlevelofstressfromwork-family compatibility, and the younger the couples, the higher the degree of marital stability.
Background & Objectives: This study aims to investigate the health status of family caregivers with dementia patients and identify the factors related to their anxiety and depression. Methods: Data from 2015 Community Health Survey(n=2,426) was used. A chi-square test was performed to investigate the health status of family caregivers, and a multiple logistic regression analysis was used to identify the factors associated with anxiety and depression. Results: Odds ratio(OR) of anxiety and depression was 1.29 times higher in female, 2.49 times higher in over 70 years versus under 39 years. ORs were lower 34.0%, 26.0%, 26.0% in the working group, the physical activity group, the alcohol drinking group respectively. ORs of anxiety and depression were 4.54 times, 1.57 times higher in the stress group, the chronic disease group respectively. And ORs were 61.0%, 28.0% lower respectively when social networks and social activities was present. Conclusions: The rate of experiencing anxiety and depression was high in family caregivers with dementia patients. It is necessary to provide diverse programs to reduce the burden of family support, anxiety and depression of family caregivers.
Purpose: this study was carried out to identify family environmental factors related to changes in sexual attitudes through a sexuality education based on correct sexual attitude for middle school students. Methods: The subjects were 141 students (67 boys and 74 girls) in 4 classes of the first grade of a coeducational middle school, in Seoul. The school nurse provided the sexuality education for 18 hours over 16 weeks. Results: After the sexuality education, there was a significant increase in sexual attitude(t=59.06, p<.001). For family environmental factors related to changes in sexual attitude,'relationship with parents' was a significant factor for both boys and girls. For the girls, there were many other related factors such as 'parents' openness', 'family structure', and 'economic status'. Significant factors were 'Family structure' for attitude to abortion and 'parents' openness' for attitude to intercourse before marriage. Conclusions: Based on these results, systematic sexuality education is needed to enhance correct sexual attitudes in youth. To increase the effect of sexuality education, it should include contents to improve relationships with patents. Also, for parents, programs to improve relationships with their children and to change the values such as openness may also be required.
This study attempted to examine the employment instability on consumer's use of credit as a financing medium. The purpose of this study was 1) to examine the effect of employment related factors on consumers' use of credit; 2) to compare the results between the two different economic situations. A conceptual framework was developed based on the permanent income hypothesis, family stress theory, and the previous empirical studies. Using data on working households ih the 1992 and 1998 Survey of Consumer Finances (SCF), double-hurdle analyses were conducted. The results suggested that employment related factors that measured employment stability were significantly related to the likelihood of having an outstanding balance on their credit account but were not the influential factors in determining the amount of the outstanding balance. Among other factors, resources factor played the most significant role in determining both the likelihood of having an outstanding balance and the amount of the balance. Although the 1992 and 1998 data represent economic downturn and economic prosperous period, the effects of the factors including employment instability factors were similar between the two periods. This imply that employment instability has increased even in the economic prosperous period. From the findings, several implications for policy makers, credit industry, and financial educators were suggested.
