A Study on Efficient Noise Filtering of Patent Data Analysis and Level Assessment of Patent Technology which improve reliability (특허 데이터 분석시 효율적인 노이즈 제거와 신뢰도가 향상된 특허 기술수준 평가에 관한 연구)

  • This paper proposes the technological level assessment which improved reliability and the efficient noise elimination methods in the process of establishing patent map analysis data. In order to eliminate efficiently noise (removed by the manual process in the past), the paper applies the Logical Operator 'AND', makes it a program in excel VBA(Visual Basic Application), and obtains the valid data. For the improved reliability technological level assessment of the patents, the study calculates average number of claims, Patent Family Size(PFS), Cites Per Patent (CPP), Triad Patent Families, Standardization Patent Diversification Index (stdPCPI), and haF-index(Hirsch a Family index). The result which applied noise exclusion work showed less than 10% of acquired patent data ratio and confirmed high reliability. The result that apply proposed technological level assessment index makes sure that balanced technological level assessment which improved reliability by producing synthetic technological level assessment.

  • In order to investigate of technology competitiveness for domestic engineering enterprise, using the quantitative and objective patent. In these result, the technology competitiveness(Patent Activity Index, Patent Family Size Index, Patent Impact Index, Technology strength) of our enterprise is far inferior to another country. So we should try to achieve our superiority in competitive power, we devote ourself to put through technical improvements of our domestic engineering enterprise in many ways.

Effect of Family Size and Genetic Correlation between Purebred and Crossbred Halfsisters on Response in Crossbred and Purebred Chickens under Modified Reciprocal Recurrent Selection

  • Response in a modified reciprocal recurrent selection scheme for egg production was evaluated considering variable family sizes and genetic correlation between purebred and crossbred half sisters. The criteria of selection of purebred breeders included pullet's own performance, purebred full and half sisters and crossbred half sister's performance. Heritability of egg production of crossbreds (aggregate genotype) and purebred's was assumed to be 0.2 and genetic correlation between purebred and crossbred half sisters ($r_{pc}$) as 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4, 0.5, 1.0, -0.1, -0.2, -0.3, -0.4, -0.5 and -1.0. Number of dams per sire to produce purebred and crossbred progenies assumed to be 5, 6, 7, 8, while number of purebred female progeny ($N_p$) and crossbred progeny ($N_c$) per dam were considered to be 3, 4, 5 and 6 in each case. Considering phenotypic variance as unity, selection indices were constructed for different combinations of dams and progeny for each value of $r_{pc}$. Following selection index theory, response in crossbred and purebred for egg production was computed. Results indicated that response in crossbreds depended mainly on crossbred family size and also on magnitude of$r_{pc}$ irrespective of its direction, and response was greater with large crossbred family size than the purebred families. Correlated response in purebreds depends both on magnitude and direction of $r_{pc}$ and was expected to be greater with large purebred family size only. Inclusion of purebred information increased the accuracy of selection for crossbred response for higher magnitude of$r_{pc}$ irrespective of its direction. Present results indicate that desirable response in both crossbred and purebred performance is a function of $r_{pc}$ and family sizes. The ratio of crossbred and purebred family sizes can be optimized depending on the objective of improving the performance of crossbreds and/or of purebreds.

An Implementation Study of Marriage Checkups in Family Centers (부부 결혼검진의 가족센터 실행에 따른 탐색적 성과연구)

  • This study aims to assess the effectiveness of the Marriage Checkup (MC) in community settings. Participants (N=57) were recruited from family centers and participated in the MC, which consisted of assessment and feedback visits. Participants completed marital satisfaction assessments before and after the MC. Overall, the participants reported significant improvements in terms of marital satisfaction with a large effect size (d=0.87). Specifically, 77.2% of participants demonstrated an increase in marriage satisfaction. Among them, 30.6% experienced a clinically significant change (from a clinical state to a non-clinical state). The reliable change index (RCI) identified 15.8% of participants as showing reliable improvement. Changes in marital satisfaction were larger for men and participants who experienced more positive changes during the MC in terms of intimacy and understanding of how to improve their marital relationships. This study supports the MC as an evidence-based approach for improving relationship health in community settings.

  • As the domestic animation industry is shrinking, it is time to actively respond to changes in new technologies and animation production methods. From 2016 to 2020, through patent information registered in the United States, China, and Korea in the field of animation technology, applicants who are the subject of technology were analyzed and technical policies and strategies pursued by applicants in each country were reviewed. China registered the most patents, so the technical activity index was high, and the US family patent size was high. As a result of positioning analysis, the U.S. market expansion influence decreased over time, China's technological activity gradually increased over time, and Korea's technological activity and family patent size decreased. Reflecting China's rise as the world's largest animation producer, Korea should also develop a policy to support animation.

A Study on a Coping Method of the Family Caregivers of Demented Patients (치매노인 가족부양자의 대처방법에 관한 연구)

  • This was a descriptive study designed to identify the level of coping method and its influencing factors on the family caregivers of demented patients, and resolve the family caregivers' level of stress. The data were collected from September 10 to October 10, 2001. Subjects for this study were recruited from four clinics, which were chosen from 15 clinics located in Chunbuk-Do as the study sites because of their cooperation for the study. They were similar in terms of size, the characteristics of the local community. and the population and registration status of the demented patients. The instruments used for the study were as follows: 1. Problematic behaviors of demented patients are measured by the Memory and Behavior Problem Checklist (Zarit, 1980), and the Linguistic Communication Symptoms Questionnaire (Bayles and Tomoeda, 1991) 2. The ability to carry out daily activities was measured using the Barthel Index (1965) and Katz Index (1963), which as well-known ADL assessment methods. 3. Burden was measured using Cost of Care Index by the Kosberg and Cairl (1986). 4. Coping strategy was measured Bell's 18 methods (1977). The data were analyzed using SPSS/PC. The study results were as follows: 1. The total stress score was 2.90 out of a maximum score of 5. The highest score reported was 3.09 on the dimension of restriction of individual and social activities, and the lowest region reported was 2.58 on the dimension of mental and physical health. 2. The total score of the coping method was 2.65 out of a maximum score of 5. The highest score reported was 4.01 on the dimension of thinking that includes an ideation such that it is better than any possible worst case, and the lowest score reported was 1.45 on the dimension of the self-image as a scapegoat. 3. There were significant differences in coping method among the subjects by age (F=2.752 p=0.04), caregiver (F=4.33 p=0.003), care-giving period (F=2.68 p=0.049), and dementia stage (F=2.87 p=0.034). 4. There were highly negative correlations ($\gamma$=-0.301 p=0.000) between problematic behaviors of demented patients and the coping method of their family caregivers. The highest correlation coefficient ($\gamma$=-0.339 p=0.000) was found between aggressive behaviors of the demented patients and the coping method of their family caregivers. 5. There was a low negative correlation ($\gamma$=-0.201 p=0.019) between the ADL of the demented patients and the coping method of their family caregivers. 6. There were highly negative correlations ($\gamma$=-0.213 p=0.005) between stress and the coping method of the family caregivers. The highest correlation was found between financial burden ($\gamma$=-.327 P=.000) and the coping method of the family caregivers. There was no significant correlation among unpleasant aspects of the demented patients, willingness to the demented patients, and the coping method of the family caregivers.

Using a Body Scanner in Assessing Perceptions of Attractiveness: Cross-Regional Study

  • Previous research reported that body size measured as Body Mass Index (BMI) and body shape measured as waist-hip-ratio (WHR) are two essential factors that form the perceptions of body attractiveness. However, the debate on the importance of BMI versus WHR is ongoing. In addition, scholarly articles, that focus on the role of geographic and cultural variability on perceptions of attractiveness, report inconsistent results. Some suggested that according to globalization and the rise of mass media, geographic variability of perceptions of attractiveness have been altered, while others believed that it remains. This study cross-regionally investigates the role of body size and body shape on the perceptions of female attractiveness. Samples were composed of 107 female college students in Alabama and 107 female college students in California. Participants viewed 27 three-dimensional body scan images of women in three body shapes (pear, hourglass, and rectangle) and three body sizes (underweight, normal weight, and overweight) and rated their perceptions of attractiveness. Images were shown to students in a random order with an overhead projector and Microsoft Office PowerPoint software. A three-way mixed-ANOVA was conducted to analyze the data. The results of the study showed that some regional differences exist between the two sample groups. However, regardless of the regional difference, hourglass shapes were perceived to be the most attractive shape and underweight sizes were perceived to be the most attractive size for both samples.

  • Purpose : This study was conducted to assess the usefulness of fat-free mass index (FFMI) and fat mass index (FMI) as novel expression methods of body composition in children. Methods : A total of 466 Second grade students-248 boys and 218 girls- from all elementary schools the Gwacheon City underwent anthropometric measures including bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) and biochemical tests. The correlation coefficients between obesity indices, including FMI and FFMI, and metabolic risk factors, were assessed. Metabolic risk factors of children with increased FMI were compared with those of children with normal FMI. We compared FMI and FFMI percentile distribution between this study's subjects and the subjects of the Fukuoka body composition study. Results : FMI was lower and FFMI was higher in this study's subjects compared to the subjects of the Fukuoka body composition study. FMI was correlated with other obesity indices and several metabolic risk factors. Metabolic risk was higher in children with increased FMI than in children with normal FMI. Conclusion : FMI and FFMI were useful indicators in comparing difference of body composition among children that had different body size and growth. High FMI was related to increase of metabolic risk in children.

  • Purpose Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a core technology, leading the 4th industrial revolution. This study aims to diagnose the Korean's national competitiveness for AI technologies through patent analyses. Design/methodology/approach In this study, KIWEE and Derwent Innovation databases were used as data source of patents. we extracted 10,510 AI patents data with keywords and classified them into 15 subcategories of AI technology. We executed patent analyses for activity index, patent intensity index, technology strength, and patent family size and diagnosed Korea's national competitiveness in AI industry. Findings The results showed that Korea is less competitive than the United States and Japan in AI industry. However, patent amount has increased since 2010, which is encouraging result. This study has implication on the need for human and R&D investment in AI industry.

  • Research results for LMS-based algorithms performances using real records of the traffic noise are discussed. The various algorithms based on LMS method are studied regarding their convergence speed and noise reduction index. Most effective algorithms are chosen for implementation in the active noise control barriers. The optimal step size, and number of adaptive filter taps are addressed during parametric study of the algorithms.
