The results of this study are as follows; ① The indispensable requisite of the parents is a son who functions as the tool for enhancing social position of their family rather than succession of them. The nuclear family is regraded ideal, but the concept of nuclear family of them is far different from that of western. ② The married couples accepts the given couple relations in the name of bringing up their children. The ideal image of wife is traditional wifely virtues and that of husband is ability of making money. ③ The parents emphasize education and success of their children for enhancing the social position of their family, while they still require some degree of moral standards to their children. The purpose of this study is to develop Family Life Education program for Marital education in Korea. In order to realize the about research purpose, this study is divided into three sections. First, nature conception and contents f Family Life Education, second, patterns and models for Family Life Education Program in USA and Korea, and Third, the future of Family Life Education. Family Life Education (FLE) is an education originated in reaction to changing social conditions, industrialization and urbanization, it deals with the perceived inadequacies of families to cope with these changes, thereby reduction social problems involved with, and improving family life. With and assumption that the studies about FLE have not been so active in Korea, the present thesis examines the FLE in Korea. The necessity of marital education in Korea Is based upon the theories of FLE in the United States of America. Also, it atempts to formulate a tentative plan for the promotion of a FLE program in Korea. The concept of FLE in Korea was manifested in the social educational law and life-span education. specified as 4th among ten presidential regulations. It is defined as " the Life-span developmental education to enhance the quality of human life, to solve family problems, to develop an individual's potentiality and to strengthen the family relations. of the FLE programs, the marital education is considered one of the furcial wubjects becaused it is the core of the family life. With this premise, FLE tries to wupport the healthy mrital relations. subsequently helping to explore the family potentiality and to strengthen family ties. The objects of the FLE program are unmarried, pre-marred , and married persons. For the married persons, the FLE program should be arranged in accordance with their rrital status divided by the family life cycle so that they may prevent possible family problems at each stage of the family life. Also, to prevent the problems occurred in the course of carrying out family functions, the FLE program should be provided with on the basis of a family unit, thereby improving the quality of the family functions. The FLE is to hep persons begin smoothly the adaption process for a successful marital relations. For the FLE to be practised more widely systematically, research on family education--that is basic study, research and production and evaluation or the FLE to be carried out by research institute wholly responsible for it-- should be done first.
This study explored the relationships between unmarried adult children and their coresident parents with a focus on the role of intergenerational exchanges and family values affecting parent-child relations. A total of 767 unmarried adult children who lived with their parents were selected from the data of the third National Korean Family Survey in 2015. The main findings were that coresident adult children exchange diverse resources with their parents and that exchange patterns whether receiving more or giving more differed depending on the helping dimensions. 'Receiving' type was more prominent in the dimension of practical help, while, 'receiving and giving' type was more noticeable in the dimension of emotional help. Findings also suggest that intergenerational exchange and family values contribute to parent-child relationship quality. While being an active provider of practical help is positively associated with relationship quality, being a recipient of emotional help is related to a higher level of relationship quality compared to being indifferent. In addition, a stronger value of family responsibility was associated with a higher level of relationship quality. These findings indicate that the importance of the practical and emotional component in the relationships between unmarried adult children and their co-resident parents and reciprocal intergenerational exchange and strong family values may be contributory factors to better parent-child relationships.
The purpose of this study was to investigate factors affecting the decisions regarding second births. Especially, analysis focused on the connections between desire for a second birth and the family factors such as family values and marital relations because they have been rarely known until now. Data was from 1,156 married women that had only one child and had been part of the national data collected by KIHASA in 2003. Major findings can be summarized as follows. First, it was found that value-related factors affect the likelihood of a second birth. The degree of parental responsibility is negatively related with the desire for a second birth. However, the perceived ideal number of children is positively related to it. Second, it was found that the quality of family relations influences the decision for the second birth. Particularly, marital satisfaction is likely to be the most important factor tending to mediate the effects of socio-demographic factors and value-related factors on the plan for a second birth. These results suggest that the effects of social norms on the number of children and timing of childbearing which exist in the family are becoming weaker. Nevertheless, the traditional value of children such as a preference for a son can still be found.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyze the influencing factors on adolescent's self-efficacy. Method: This was a descriptive study. The data were collected from 7th through 12th graders(N=1710) enrolled in middle schools(N=873) and high schools(N=837) in the metropolitan area of Daegu. The instruments had used for this study were the self-efficacy, the life event checklist, and Family APGAR. The data were analyzed using frequency, t-test, Pearson correlation coefficient, and multiple regression analysis. Result: Pearson correlation analysis revealed that there were negative correlations between the self-efficacy and the stress. However, in case of the subjects who recorded higher scores at self-efficacy they showed higher scores at family function. Stepwise multiple regression analysis revealed that powerful predictors of adolescent's self-efficacy were family function and relations of schoolmate. Conclusion: From these results, we can find that the family function and relations of schoolmate were actual factors theta affected the self-efficacy of adolescents. Accordingly, affirmative emotion in family, harmonic communication among family members and sharing housekeeping works is recommended as a useful method in order to enhance the family function, and then the self-efficacy of adolescence will be increased.
