Inauthentic resources can be easily spread by P2P (Peer-to-Peer) participants due to the openness and anonymity of P2P networks. A possible way to restrict the distribution of inauthentic resources and prevent malicious peers from joining P2P networks is to exploit peers' reputation which reflect their past behaviors and are also helpful to predict peers' future behaviors. There is a possibility that some peers intentionally plays along with other peers in order to increase/decrease its reputation through false feedback exchanges. Therefore, we propose a new reputation management scheme, called TrustRRep (Trustable Resource sharing service using Reputation) scheme, which improves the trustworthiness and efficiency of P2P networks by identifying peers who give false feedback. The TrustRRep scheme is also capable of providing peers with the trustworthiness of shared resources by discriminating resources distributed by malicious peers. We implement the proposed TrustRRep scheme on the NS-2 simulator for evaluating its performance compared to the recent reputation management work available in literature. A case study on simulations shows that the proposed reputation management scheme yields efficient performance in terms of the minimal download ratio and dissemination of inauthentic resources, the efficient identification of peers who give false feedback, and the provisioning of the trustworthiness of peers' reputation. It also shows that the proposed TrustRRep scheme imposes the restrictions of participating P2P networks on a malicious peers by diminishing its trust value.

An approach to detect abnormal activities based on reputations created individually by each node is vulnerable to a false accusation since intrusion detection in ad-hoc networks is done in a distributed and cooperative manner. Detection of false accusation is considered important because the efficiency or survivability of the network can be degraded severely if normal nodes were excluded from the network by being considered as abnormal ones in the intrusion detection process. In this paper, we propose an improved reputation-based intrusion detection technique to efficiently detect and manage false accusations in ad-hoc networks. Additionally, we execute simulations of the proposed technique to analyze its performance and feasibility to be implemented in a real environment.
Vehicular Ad-Hoc Networks (VANETs) have become one of the active areas of research, standardization, and development because they have tremendous potentials to improve vehicle and road safety, traffic efficiency, and convenience as well as comfort to both drivers and passengers. However, message trustfulness is a challenge because the propagation of false message by malicious vehicles induces unreliable and ineffectiveness of VANETs, Therefore, we need a reliable reputation method to ensure message trustfulness. In this paper, we consider a vulnerability against the Sybil attack of the previous reputation systems based on blockchain and suggest a new reputation system which resists against Sybil attack on the previous system. We propose an initial authentication process as a countermeasure against a Sybil attack and provide a reliable reputation with a cooperative message delivery to cope with message omission. In addition, we use Homomorphic Commitment to protect the privacy breaches in VANETs environment.

When purchasing an online product, a customer tends to be influenced strongly by its reputation, the aggregation of other customers' ratings on it. The reputation, however, is not always trustable since it can be manipulated easily by attackers who intentionally give unfair ratings to their target products. In this paper, we first address identifying trustable users who tend to give fair ratings to products in online rating systems and then propose a method of computing true reputation of a product by aggregating only those trustable users' ratings. In order to identify the trustable users, we list some candidate features that seem related significantly to the trustworthiness of users and verify the robustness of each of the features through extensive experiments. By finding and exploiting these robust features, we are able to identify trustable users and to compute true reputation effectively and efficiently based on fair ratings of those trustable users.
Mobile ad-hoc networks (MANETs) have attracted great research interest in recent years. Among many issues, lack of motivation for participating nodes to collaborate forms a major obstacle to the adoption of MANETs. Many contemporary collaboration enforcement techniques employ reputation mechanisms for nodes to avoid and penalize malicious participants. Reputation information is propagated among participants and updated based on complicated trust relationships to thwart false accusation of benign nodes. The aforementioned strategy suffers from low scalability and is likely to be exploited by adversaries. In this paper, we propose a novel approach to address these problems. With the proposed technique, no reputation information is propagated in the network and malicious nodes cannot cause false penalty to benign hosts. Nodes classify their one-hop neighbors through direct observation and misbehaving nodes are penalized within their localities. Data packets are dynamically rerouted to circumvent selfish nodes. As a result, overall network performance is greatly enhanced. This approach significantly simplifies the collaboration enforcement process, incurs low overhead, and is robust against various malicious behaviors. Simulation results based on different system configurations indicate that the proposed technique can significantly improve network performance with very low communication cost.
As the P2P service does not have any administration authorities that are able to manage the behavior of participants and control the malicious users, malicious user can give harm to legitimate users for the benefit of themselves. To perform the secure transaction with new members who did not have past experiences on transaction, service users can differentiate malicious users and legitimate users by referring to the reputation information that provided by users having past experience. However, users can intentionally give false evaluation to other users on Performed transaction. We call these users as 'liar'. In this Paper, we propose a new reputation system for liar reduction to guarantee an accuracy on reputation information.

Node cooperation during packet forwarding operations is critically important for fair resource utilization in Community Wireless Mesh Networks (CoWMNs). In a CoWMN, node cooperation is achieved by using fairness protocols specifically designed to detect and isolate malicious nodes, discourage unfair behavior, and encourage node participation in forwarding packets. In general, these protocols can be split into two groups: Incentive-based ones, which are managed centrally, and use credit allocation schemes. In contrast, reputation-based protocols that are decentralized, and rely on information exchange among neighboring nodes. Centrally managed protocols inevitably suffer from scalability problems. The decentralized, reputation-based protocols lacks in detection capability, suffer from false detections and error propagation compared to the centralized, incentive-based protocols. In this study, we present a new fairness protocol management scheme, called Hybrid FPMS that captures the superior detection capability of incentive-based fairness protocols without the scalability problems inherently expected from a centralized management scheme as a network's size and density grows. Simulation results show that Hybrid FPMS is more efficient than the current centralized approach and significantly reduces the network delays and overhead.
To make the network energy efficient and to protect the network from malignant user's energy efficient grid based secret key sharing scheme is proposed. The cost function is evaluated to select the optimal nodes for carrying out the data transaction process. The network is split into equal number of grids and each grid is placed with certain number of nodes. The node cost function is estimated for all the nodes present in the network. Once the optimal energy proficient nodes are selected then the data transaction process is carried out in a secured way using malicious nodes filtration process. Therefore, the message is transmitted in a secret sharing method to the end user and this process makes the network more efficient. The proposed work is evaluated in network simulated and the performance of the work are analysed in terms of energy, delay, packet delivery ratio, and false detection ratio. From the result, we observed that the work outperforms the other works and achieves better energy and reduced packet rate.
The poems of Shin Suk-ju can be divided into two periods around the political change by King Sejo; his poems from the former period show that the poet enjoyed abundant pride and leisurely spirit in the self-satisfying world driven by his determination to maintain a pure heart and save and awaken the people during the reign of King Sejong. His ideology of awakening the people, however, was the product of his heroic consciousness to achieve immortal fame. It was his heroic consciousness and determination to sacrifice his life for fame according to the mandate from Heaven that made him join the political change by King Sejo. His poems from the latter period clearly reveal that the way of his life to pursue fame didn't bring him spiritual satisfaction and happiness. He confessed that his conscience was destroyed as he joined King Sejo in his political change and the deeds he achieved and further his life itself were all in vain. He lost the values or orders he pursued, which caused instability in his life. Facing such instability head-on, he argued that right and wrong, true and false, and good and evil mentioned in the world were all subjective and groundless. Furthermore, he realized all the things and creatures of the world were nothing but phantoms. Those perceptions he had were based on Madhyamaka of Buddhism. Going through such a thinking process, the poet wrote about his mentality of a false reputation with ideal mentality. Heroic consciousness, Buddhist thinking, and pursuit of mentality of a false reputation found in his poems make also frequent appearances in the poems by major literary men in the latter half of the 15th century such as Seo Geo-jeong. His serious searches to overcome his conscientious agony and sense of futility about life had influences on the attitudes toward life and literature of the official literary men of the times. Seong Hyeon's statement that the major literary figures of the times inherited the literary tradition of Shin Suk-ju was not a rhetoric by courtesy.
Online firms collect consumers' private information, which serves as a valuable database for marketing activities. In order to encourage consumers to provide their private information, online firms offer high quality websites for consumers who provide private information. However, identity theft, phishing, and pharming, become critical social issues, consumers started to avoid providing their private information to online firms. Thus, consumers often provide false or limited information, which lacks value for practical use for the online firms. The main issue raised in this study is to discuss how online marketing activities has influence on consumers attitude and information providing behavior. From the result, this paper found that websites reputation had greatest impact on willingness of providing information. Also this study revealed that unauthorized use is the key factor for increasing distrust and avoidance of providing information.
