  • This paper analyzes the effects of Ge profiles shape of SiGe heterojunction bipolar transistors (HBT's) for high frequency application. Device simulations using ATLAS/BLAZE for the SiGe HBT with trapezoidal or triangular Ge profile are carried out to optimize the device performance. An HBT with $15\%$ triangular Ge profile shows higher cut-off frequency and DC current gain than that with $19\%$ trapezoidal Ge profile. The cut-off frequency and DC gain are increased from 42GHz to 84GHz and from 200 to 600, respectively. The SiGe HBT has been fabricated using a production CVD reactor.

  • Handbags are a part of fashion and while their significance and value are increasing, research on this topic is lacking. This study defines handbags and categorizes the materials used for making handbags, sewing methods, expression techniques, and terminologies related to accessories. A total of 1,743 handbags that were released from the Spring 2020 to Fall 2023, Ready-to-Wear collections by 8 selected brands (Hermes, Dior, Fendi, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Prada, Gucci, and Alexander McQueen), were analyzed. Out of these, 732 unique designs, excluding those with only color variations, were studied. The most common sewing methods were 'Cut, sewing, and edge painting', 'Cylinder arm sewing', 'Cut, edge painting, and sewing', and 'Inverted seam', in that order. Slim strap designs primarily used the 'Cut, sewing, and edge painting' method, whereas the body, especially with narrow and hard leather, was best suited for the 'Cylinder arm sewing machine'. For expression techniques, the most frequently used methods were 'Quilting', 'Metal Eyelet', 'Embossing', 'Printing', 'Punching', and 'Weaving', respectively. The characteristics of each brand's production methods, expression techniques, and accessories were as follows: First, the exposure of logos and monograms is prominent. Unlike clothing, handbags often prominently feature the brand's logo or monogram. Second, signature quilting is a prominent feature. Quilting effectively conveys the brand's signature style, providing cushioning, volume, and pattern effects. Third, sustainable development is a growing trend. Brands are increasingly applying eco-friendly and socially responsible designs.

  • The information of cut slope in Mt. Jang area, Busan is investigated in order to construct the Slope Management System in Urban Area. The slope inspection sheet is made to record the characteristics for cut slopes, and that is capable to be inputted slope information systematically. The cut slopes in Mt. Jang area are consisting of 69 slopes. Most of the cut slopes are constructed in cutting slope and retaining wall (CR). The cut slopes located in housing facilities are 46 slopes, and the slopes located in school facilities are 12 slopes. The traverse of cut slopes is mainly ranged from 50 m to 150 m, and the height is mainly ranged from 10 m to 20 m. The slopes combined with soil and rock are mostly distributed. The retaining wall was installed in the toe part of cut slope in order to increase the slope stability, and the additional reinforcement methods including the anchor, drainage, preventing rock fall, shotcrete and vegetation were installed at the toe part of cut slopes.

  • This study reviewed the diagnosis accuracy and evaluation criteria of the fall risk assessment questionnaire that proved validity through factor analysis in previous studies. The purpose of this study was to diagnose high-risk groups and propose personal fall risk profiles for the Korean community-dwelling elderly. The participants of this study were 439 elderly people living in S, U, B, and Y cities Korea (mean age 75.0 ± 5.7 years). Receiver operating characteristic analysis was conducted to review the accuracy of the fall risk assessment and evaluation criteria of the FRA. The results showed that the four sub-factors of the FRA: 'Potential for fall', 'Disease and physical symptoms', 'Environment' and 'Physical function', can effectively diagnose the fall risk of the community-dwelling elderly. The evaluation criteria was presented based on the sensitivity and specificity results. In addition, as a result of analyzing the patterns by the sub factors of the fall risk, the high-risk group accounted for 80% of the elderly who had problems with two or more factors. Therefore, the four sub-factors of FRA can effectively diagnose the fall risk level, and could be present individual fall risk profiles based on the evaluation criteria.

  • PURPOSE: This study is designed as a retrospective study, and identified the clinical usability of Sit to Stand (STS) test for predicting of fall incidence in stroke patients who experienced a fall within 1 year. METHODS: Between July 2011 and November 2012, 69 inpatients with stroke in K rehabilitation hospital were participated under voluntarily signing the informed consent form. STS test and 10m walk test (10MWT) were used to assess the muscle strength of lower-extremity and walking velocity, respectively. Also, we tested dynamic balance and motor function of lower-extremity in affected-side using with the Berg balance scale (BBS) and the Fugl-Meyer assessment of lower extremity (FM-L/E). METHODS: There were significant differences between subjects with fall-experienced group and without subjects without fall-experienced group in STS test, 10MWT, BBS scores and FM-L/E. STS test significantly showed a negative correlation between 10MWT (r=-.657), BBS (r=-.512), and FM-L/E (r=-.563). And, 10MWT have a influence on the performance of STS test (the capacity of explanation = 20%). The cut-off value of STS performance predicting falls experience is ${\geq}14.36$ seconds (sensitivity=76%; specificity=79%, area under curve=.785). According to logistic regression analysis of falls experience, subjects ${\geq}14.36$ s showed that 4.164 times (odd ratio) increased in falls than subjects < 14.36 s in STS test. CONCLUSION: This study demonstrated that STS test may be a useful tool predicting and measuring falls in patients with stroke. Further study will be needed to elucidate the kinematic analysis of STS test and the relationship between physical activity level and falls in stroke patients.

  • The present study was motivated by the needs to make diversified scientific approaches toward influential factors like human, technical, organization, policy and environmental on the basis of the specialized information concerning the cause for industrial accidents in a measure to prevent the falling accident which has the biggest priority among the three major frequent industrial accidents. In this connection, diverse policies have been practiced in the meantime, with little effects in fact to reduce occurrence of industrial accidents, seemingly because such policies have been practiced on the direct dimension, instead of tries to nip in the bud of fundamental causes. This study was thus conducted with a view to determine the causes that have influence on falling accidents from the overall context and unearth the factors requiring management with priority. For this aim, "Fall from Height"(2003), a study by HSE, UK was applied to various conditions of korea as an experiment to search for fundamental causes for falling accidents. The major findings of this study might be summed up as exploring a main critical path that has influence upon falling accidents and suggesting effective ways to cut down through the critical path.

  • A visibility analysis model based on the Mie theory is applied to the measurements during the fall, 1993 in Seoul. Model estimations of the total extinction coefficient $b_{ext}$, and the particle scattering coefficient, $b_{sp}$ are in good agreement with the measured values by a transmissometer and a nephelometer, respectively. These values show strong dependency on the mass loading of fine particles( $D_{p}$ <3.0${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$) but show no apparent relation with that of coarse particles(3.0${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$$D^{p}$ <10${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$). Relative humidity plays an important role in determining the size of particles which in turn, affects the optical efficiency of aerosol. Based on the composition analysis with cut size nitrate concentration is higher than the sulfate concentration in PM3-10 but they are comparable to each other in PM3. Considering in 1985, it demonstrates a drastic increase of nitrate concentration between 1985 and 1993. It is found that measured and estimated light extinction budget were in good agreement within 10% and that scattering by particles is responsible for about 50-55% and 70-80 % of total extinction during clear and smoggy periods respectively.y.
