공기호흡기용 Type3 용기의 자긴압력과 수명에 관한 연구 (Study on the Autofrettage Pressure for SCBA Type3 Cylinder)

  • In this study, experiments and finite element method analysis were used to determine the autofrettage pressure that is optimal and then maximizes the cycling life of Type3 composite cylinders used in self-contained breathing apparatus. For both approaches, the cylinders were pressurized at 100, 110, ${\ldots}$, 290 % of the test pressure, respectively. The stresses were computed by the FEM analysis; while the strains of cylinders were recorded and the failure modes were monitored during the cycling test. As a result, from the good agreements between the simulations and experiments, it was concluded that at least 70 % of the test pressure should be applied as the autofrettage pressure in order to takes visible effect on the cycling life, and 160 % of the test pressure induces the maximum cycling life and the desired failure mode.

Catastrophe analysis of active-passive mechanisms for shallow tunnels with settlement

  • In the note a comprehensive and optimal passive-active mode for describing the limit failure of circular shallow tunnel with settlement is put forward to predict the catastrophic stability during the geotechnical construction. Since the surrounding soil mass around tunnel roof is not homogeneous, with tools of variation calculus, several different curve functions which depict several failure shapes in different soil layers are obtained using virtual work formulae. By making reference to the simple-form of Power-law failure criteria based on numerous experiments, a numerical procedure with consideration of combination of upper bound theorem and stochastic medium theory is applied to the optimal analysis of shallow-buried tunnel failure. With help of functional catastrophe theory, this work presented a more accurate and optimal failure profile compared with previous work. Lastly the note discusses different effects of parameters in new yield rule and soil mechanical coefficients on failure mechanisms. The scope of failure block becomes smaller with increase of the parameter A and the range of failure soil mass tends to decrease with decrease of unit weight of the soil and tunnel radius, which verifies the geomechanics and practical case in engineering.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyze the failure modes of an auto transfer switch (ATS), determine the most common failure mechanisms, and iterate the design to improve reliability. Methods: We carried out failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA) to determine the failure modes and mechanisms. We identified the parts or modules that required improvement via two-stage quality function deployment based on FMEA, and improvements to reliability were monitored using the Gomperz growth model. Results: The main failure modes of the ATS were damage to, and deformation of, the stator / movable element due to repetitive movements. Five iterations of design modification were carried out, and the mean time to failure (MTTF) increased to 14,539 cycles, corresponding to 85% of the target MTTF. The Gompertz growth model indicates that the 10th iteration of design modification is expected to achieve the target MTTF. Conclusion: We improved the reliability of mechanical parts via failure mode analysis, and characterized the iterative improvements in the MTTF using the Gompertz growth model.

PCA-SVM 기반의 SMPS 고장예지에 관한 연구 (Fault Prognostics of a SMPS based on PCA-SVM)

  • With the 4th industrial revolution, condition monitoring using machine learning techniques has become popular among researchers. An overload due to complex operations causes several irregularities in MOSFETs. This study investigated the acquired voltage to analyze the overcurrent effects on MOSFETs using a failure mode effect analysis (FMEA). The results indicated that the voltage pattern changes greatly when the current is beyond the threshold value. Several features were extracted from the collected voltage signals that indicate the health state of a switched-mode power supply (SMPS). Then, the data were reduced to a smaller sample space by using a principal component analysis (PCA). A robust machine learning algorithm, the support vector machine (SVM), was used to classify different health states of an SMPS, and the classification results are presented for different parameters. An SVM approach assisted by a PCA algorithm provides a strong fault diagnosis framework for an SMPS.

Interfacial stress assessment at the cracked zones in CFRP retrofitted RC beams

  • In this work, an experimental examination was carried out to study interfacial stresses developed at the junction zones between carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) fabrics (~1 mm thickness) and tensile concrete portion in CFRP retrofitted RC beams. In this respect, initially six similar RC beams of $150{\times}150{\times}1000mm$ dimensions were prepared. Three of which were strengthened with CFRP fabrics at the tensile side of the beams. Furthermore, a notch was cut at the center of the bottom surface for all of the studied beams. The notch was 15 mm deep and ran across the full width of tension side of the beams. The mentioned interfacial stresses could be calculated from strains measured using strain gauges mounted on the interface zone of the tensile concrete and the CFRP sheet. Based on the results obtained, it is shown that interfacial stresses developed between CFRP fabrics and RC beam had a noticeable effect on debonding failure mode of the latter. The load carrying capacity of CFRP strengthened RC specimens increased ~75% compared to that of the control RC beams. This was attributed to the enhancement of flexural mode of the former. Finally, finite element analysis was also utilized to verify the measured experimental results.

FMEA를 활용한 재제조 파워스티어링 오일펌프 시험법에 대한 최적화 연구 (The Optimization Study on the Test Method of Remanufactured Power Steering Oil Pump by Using FMEA)

  • Currently government certified test method for an automobile remanufactured products is insufficient. Thus many automotive parts in the remanufacturing market are lacking proper evaluation criteria and production of defective products are causing customer dissatisfaction. In this paper a power steering oil pump, which requires stringent manufacturing standards, is studied by the failure mode and effect analysis approach. The research suggested that the test criteria such as discharge flow characteristic test, tightness test, pulley run-out test, pressure switch operation test, low temperature test and rotation pressure durability test should be performed to evaluate the reliability of remanufactured power steering oil pumps. As a result of tests, the performance of remanufactured power steering oil pump satisfied the evaluation criteria of pressure switch operation test and low temperature test. However, the remanufactured power steering oil pump failed to satisfy the evaluation criteria on discharge performance test, tightness test and pulley run-out test. These performance evaluation tests proved the necessity of standard process for the remanufactured power steering oil pump.

한국형 틸팅열차의 신뢰성기반 유지보수 체계 구축에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Construction of Reliability Centered Maintenance System for Korean Tilting Train)

  • 본 논문에서는 한국형 틸팅열차의 유지보수 활동을 위해 신뢰성기반유지보수체계를 제안하였다. 열차시스템을 3단계의 교체 부품 단위로 분류하고, 각 단위에 대해 기능블록도를 작성한 후 고장모드 영향 분석을 실시하였다. 각 단위의 심각도를 결정한 후 유지보수 정책을 제안하였으며, 틸팅열차를 위한 유지보수 기준을 정하고, 실제 사례를 제시하였다. 제안된 신뢰성기반유지보수체계는 기존 유지보수 체계와도 호환성을 갖고 있으며, 안전성 향상과 유지보수 활동 효율화에 기여할 수 있다.In this paper, a reliability centered maintenance (RCM) system is proposed to perform maintenance action for Korean Tilting Train. The train system was divided into line replaceable units up to three steps. Functional block diagrams were drawn and failure mode effect analysis for the units was carried out. The criticality of each unit was determined and a maintenance policy was proposed. Maintenance and repair criteria for the tilting train were determined and an example was presented. The proposed RCM system is compatible with the previous maintenance system and contributes to improvement of safety and efficiency of maintenance action.

설계의 안전성 검토(DFS) 업무의 효율성 증대를 위한 공동주택 건설공사의 단위작업별 재해위험성 평가 (Disaster Risk Assessment by Work Unit of Construction Work for Improve the Efficiency of Design for Safety Task)

  • The construction work to establish a safety management plan should be carried out Design for Safety(DFS) task by the designers from May 2016 according to the amendment of the Construction Technology Promotion Act. However, designers lack experience in construction work and lack of information on safety accidents, so it is not easy to predict a disaster that may occur during the construction phase. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to provide information about disasters that can occur in each construction work in order to enable designers to efficiently perform DFS task in the design phase. In this study, the construction work was classified by work unit and the disaster risk assessment was conducted using the Failure Mode and Effect Analysis technique. The disaster information by work unit analyzed in this study can be used to provide designers with an alternative to prevent disasters at the design stage. Disaster information by work unit of apartment construction can be used by designers to prepare an alternative for disaster prevention at the design stage.

볼트이음방식의 블록전단파괴에 미치는 영향에 대한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on the Effects of Bolted Connection Type on the Block Shear Failure)

  • 블록전단파괴는 인장부재의 한계상태에 해당하는 것으로 강구조물의 인장부재 또는 연결부 설계 시 주의를 요한다. 많은 연구 결과와 설계기준에서는 블록전단파괴에 대한 볼트 이음 방식의 영향을 고려하지 않고 있다. 본 연구에서는 볼트 이음 방식(지압이음과 마찰이음)이 블록전단파괴의 파괴모드와 파괴강도에 미치는 영향을 분석하고자 인장실험을 실시하였다. 실험결과의 분석으로부터 설계기준, 지압이음, 마찰이음에 따른 파괴모드의 차이를 제시하였으며 마찰이음에서 발생되는 마찰력으로 인한 블록전단파괴강도의 변화를 고찰하였다.

저점을 중심으로 회전하는 강성옹벽에 작용하는 주동토압 (Active Earth Pressure behind Rigid Retaining Wall Rotating about the Base)

  • 표면이 거친 강성옹벽의 경우 뒷채움재에서 발생하는 아칭효과로 인해 옹벽에는 비선형의 토압분포가 작용하며, 아칭효과가 비선형의 토압분포에 미치는 영향은 옹벽의 변위 형태에 따라 달라진다. 따라서 강성옹벽에 작용하는 주동토압의 크기와 비선형의 토압분포를 정확하게 산정하기 위해서는 옹벽의 변위형태에 따라 달라지는 뒷채움재에 서 발생하는 실제적 인 파괴면 형상과 아칭효과를 고려해야만 한다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 강성옹벽이 저점을 중심으로 회전하는 경우에 뒷채움재에서의 아칭효과와 비선형의 파괴면 형상을 고려함으로써 비선형의 주동토압을 산정할 수 있는 토압산정식을 제안하였다. 이 과정에서 토압산정식이 수학적으로 복잡해지는 것을 피하기 위하여 뒷채움재에서 발생하는 비선형의 파괴면 형상은 4개의 직선으로 구성되는 가상의 파괴면으로 대체하였다. 그리고 제안식으로부터 구한 예측치를 기존의 모형시험 결과와 비교한 결과 제안식은 만족스런 토압 예측치를 제공하는 것으로 나타났다.
