The use of high-strength concrete (HSC) has significantly increased over the last decade, especially in offshore structures, long-span bridges, and tall buildings. The behavior of such concrete is noticeably different from that of normal-strength concrete (NSC) due to its different microstructure and mode of failure. In particular, the shear capacity of structural members made of HSC is a concern and must be carefully evaluated. The shear fracture surface in HSC members is usually trans-granular (propagates across coarse aggregates) and is therefore smoother than that in NSC members, which reduces the effect of shear transfer mechanisms through aggregate interlock across cracks, thus reducing the ultimate shear strength. Current code provisions for shear design are mainly based on experimental results obtained on NSC members having compressive strength of up to 50MPa. The validity of such methods to calculate the shear strength of HSC members is still questionable. In this study, a new approach based on artificial neural networks (ANNs) was used to predict the shear capacity of NSC and HSC beams without shear reinforcement. Shear capacities predicted by the ANN model were compared to those of five other methods commonly used in shear investigations: the ACI method, the CSA simplified method, Response 2000, Eurocode-2, and Zsutty's method. A sensitivity analysis was conducted to evaluate the ability of ANNs to capture the effect of main shear design parameters (concrete compressive strength, amount of longitudinal reinforcement, beam size, and shear span to depth ratio) on the shear capacity of reinforced NSC and HSC beams. It was found that the ANN model outperformed all other considered methods, providing more accurate results of shear capacity, and better capturing the effect of basic shear design parameters. Therefore, it offers an efficient alternative to evaluate the shear capacity of NSC and HSC members without stirrups.
The compressive behavior of special-shaped concrete filled tube (CFT) mega column coupled with multiple cavities is studied by testing six columns subjected to cyclically uniaxial compressive load. The six columns include three pentagonal specimens and three hexagonal specimens. The influence of cavity construction, arrangement of reinforcement, concrete strength on failure feature, bearing capacity, stiffness, and residual deformation is examined. Experimental results show that cavity construction and reinforcements make it possible to form a combined confinement effect to in-filled concrete, and the two groups of special-shaped CFT columns show good elastic-plastic compressive behavior. As there is no axial bearing capacity calculation method currently available in any Code of practice for special-shaped CFT columns, values predicted by normal CFT column formulas in GB50936, CECS254, ACI-318, EC4, AISCI-LRFD, CECS159, and AIJ are compared with tested values. The calculated values are lower than the tested values for most columns, thus the predicted bearing capacity is safe. A reasonable calculation method by dividing concrete into active and inactive confined regions is proposed. And high accuracy shows in estimating special-shaped CFT columns either coupled with multiple cavities or not. In addition, a finite element method (FEM) analysis is conducted and the simulated results match the test well.
Three most outstanding maximum flow rate formulas are identified from many existing models. Outlines of the three limiting mass flow rate models are given along with computational procedures to estimate approximate amount of fission products released from a containment to environment for a given characteristic hole size for containment-isolation failure and containment pressure and temperature under a loss of coolant accident. Sample calculations are performed using the critical ideal gas flow rate model and the Moody's graphs for the maximum two-phase flow rates, and the results are compared with the values obtained from the mass leakage rate formula of CONTEMPT-LT code for converging nozzle and sonic flow. It is shown that the critical ideal gas flow rate formula gives almost comparable results as one can obtain from the Moody's model. It is also found that a more conservative approach to estimate leakage rate from a containment under a LOCA is to use the maximum ideal gas flow rate equation rather than tile mass leakage rate formula of CONTEMPT-LT.

Pipelines are one of the most important structures in subsea equipment. It is the main equipment for transportation of crude oil and natural gas to the downstream facilities. Crude oil and natural gas leak will be carry out not only political and financial issues but also pollution to the environment. Inaccurate predictions of corrosion behavior will make hazardous consequences. The serviceability assessment of corroded structures is essential especially for subsea pipelines. As corrosion is concerned, the effects of failure due to significant reduction will make it hard to the pipeline operator to maintain the serviceability of pipelines. In this paper, the serviceability assessment of corroded crude oil pipeline is performed using the industry design code (Shell92, DNV RP F101, ASME B31G, BS 7910, PCORRC) and FEA depending on corrosion area. In last step, the future integrity of the subsea crude oil pipeline is assessed to predict the remaining year in service of crude oil pipelines.
Precast concrete (PC) beam-column connections using ductile rods are proposed for earthquake zone. An existing beam-column connection, two PC specimens designed by considering failure modes and a conventional RC specimen were tested under cyclic loading to evaluate the seismic performance. The specimens were designed to satisfy the requirements of current design code. The variables are the yield strength of longitudinal reinforcing bars of PC beams. The test results showed that the proposed system applying smaller yield strength of the longitudinal reinforcing bars at the PC beams than the ductile rods was satisfied with seismic criteria. The deformation capacity and energy dissipation capacity of the proposed PC beam-column connections were greater than those of the existing DDC system.

Self-piercing riveting(SPR) is a mechanical fastening technique which is put pressure on the rivet for joining the sheets. Unlike a spot welding, SPR joining does not make the harmful gas and $CO_2$ and needs less energy consumption. In this study, static and fatigue tests were conducted using tensile-shear specimens with Al-5052 plates for evaluation of fatigue strength of the SPR joints. During SPR joining process for the specimen, using the current sheet thickness and a rivet, the optimal applied punching force was found to be 21 kN. And, the maximum static strength of the specimen produced at the optimal punching force was 3430 N. During the fatigue tests for the specimens, interface failure mode occurred on the top substrate close to the rivet head in the most high-loading range region, but on the bottom substrate close to the rivet tail in the low -loading range region. There was a relationship between applied load amplitude $P_{amp}$ and lifetime of cycle N for the tensile-shear, $P_{amp}=3395.5{\times}N^{-0.078}$. Using the stress-strain curve of the Al-5052 from tensile test, the simulations for fatigue specimens have been carried out using the implicit finite element code ABAQUS. The relation between von-Mises equivalent stress amplitude and number of cycles was found to be ${\sigma}_{eq}=514.7{\times}N^{-0.033}$.

Fault injection attack is the process of attempting to acquire the information on-chip through inject artificially generated error code into the cryptographic algorithms operation (or perform) which is implemented in hardware or software. From the details above, the laser-assisted failure injection attacks have been proven particularly successful. In this paper, we propose an improved laser probing system for fault injection attack which is called the Dual-Laser FA tool set, a hybrid approach of the Flash-pumping laser and fiber laser. The main concept of the idea is to improve the laser probe through utilizing existing equipment. The proposed laser probe can be divided into two parts, which are Laser-I for laser cutting, and Laser-II for fault injection. We study the advantages of existing equipment, and consider the significant parameters such as energy, repetition rate, wavelength, etc. In this approach, it solves the high energy problem caused by flash-pumping laser in higher repetition frequency from the fiber laser.
Since the Fukushima nuclear accident in 2011, the public were concerned about the safety of Nuclear Power Plants (NPPs) in extreme natural disaster situations, such as earthquakes, flooding, heavy rain and tsunami, have been increasing around the world. Accordingly, the Stress Test was conducted in Europe, Japan, Russia, and other countries by reassessing the safety and response capabilities of NPPs in extreme natural disaster situations that exceed the design basis. The extreme natural disaster can put the NPPs in beyond-design-basis conditions such as the loss of the power system and the ultimate heat sink. The behaviors and capabilities of NPPs with losing their essential safety functions should be measured to find and supplement weak areas in hardware, procedures and coping strategies. The Loss of Ultimate Heat Sink (LUHS) accident assumes impairment of the essential service water system accompanying the failure of the component cooling water system. In such conditions, residual heat removal and cooling of safety-relevant components are not possible for a long period of time. It is therefore very important to establish coping strategies considering all available equipment to mitigate the consequence of the LUHS accident and keep the NPPs safe. In this study, thermal hydraulic behavior of the LUHS event was analyzed using RELAP5/Mod3.3 code. We also performed the sensitivity analysis to identify the effects of the operator recovery actions and operation strategy for charging pumps on the results of the LUHS accident.

The Concrete Capacity Design(CCD) method has been used in the design of anchor since 2001 and Korean design code specify that concrete breakout capacity of CIP anchor under seismic load shall be taken as 75% of static capacity. In this study, an experimental study was performed to evaluate the concrete breakout capacity of unreinforced CIP anchors under dynamic shear force. For the purpose, three static and dynamic shear-loading tests were conducted using 20mm diameter anchors, respectively. The edge distance of 120mm was considered in the tests. In the dynamic tests, 15 cycles pulsating load with 1Hz speed was applied and the magnitude of loading step was increased until concrete breakout failure occurs. From the tests, the concrete breakout capacity under dynamic shear loading showed nearly same capacity by static loading.

The $45^{\circ}$cone failure theory has been used for concrete anchor bolt design, but the CCD (concrete capacity design) method was adopted as a new design method in 2000. The method was allowed to be used, however, only for anchors with a diameter of less than 50 mm and an embedment depth of less than 635 mm because it is based on the experiment results from medium-sized to small anchor bolts. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a rational concrete breakout capacity equation for medium-sized to large anchor bolts. In this study, tension tests on an M56 cast-in-place single anchor bolt with an effective embedment depth of 400-450 mm were carried out for the five test specimens. Based on the test results together with the other recent test results, the applicability of the concrete breakout capacity equation in the current design code to the large to medium-sized anchor bolts with an embedment depth of 280-1,200 mm was estimated.
