The Association of Food Label Use with Objective and Subjective Obesity among a Korean Population (가공 식품의 영양성분표시 이용과 주관적, 객관적 비만의 관련성)

  • Purpose: Using food labels has been related to healthy eating habits and positive health outcomes. The purpose of this study is to describe the prevalence of food labels utilization and the association between food label use and obesity related factors. Methods: We conducted a self-reported population-based survey including health behaviors, 24-hour recalls, measurements of body mass indices with 6,266 Koreans aged 10 or older. ${\chi}^2$-test and ANOVA examined differences in demographic factors, health behavioral factors, and nutrition factors in tandem with food label use categories. Multivariates logistic regression was used to estimate association between food label use and obesity factors. Results: The percentages of food label users and non-users who perceive food labels were 21.8% and 48.5% respectively. In the multivariate logistic regression, food label use had significant positive associations with women, age, income, education attainment, and subjective obesity. After adjusting for socioeconomic factors and dietetic treatments, the positive associations between food label use and subjective obesity, weight control, and subjective obesity with objective normal weight remained. Conclusion: In order to improve eating habits and weight management, the obesity population that does not use food labels needs to receive proper nutrition education including food choice and body image correction.

THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE INFLUENCE FACTORS AND THE AUDITOR′S USE OF EDP AUDIT TECHNIQUES IN KOREAN ACCOUNTING FIRMS

  • The objectives of this study are to suggest and empirically prove the relationship model for investigating influence factors on the use of EDP audit techniques, and to identify moderating effects of the task types of EDP audit on the relationships between the influence factors and the use of EDP audit techniques. The results of the empirical test suggested that there are significant (positive or negative) correlations between the use of some EDP audit techniques and the influence factors, such as audit education, auditor's familiarity and age, and effectiveness of the technique, etc. The significant differences in the use of EDP audit techniques were empirically proved in the ratio of audit fees and the audit structure. It was also proved that the relationships between the use of techniques and the influence factors are different according to the task types of EDP audit. This study proposed the technique and the auditor related implications of these findings for the successful fulfilment of EDP audit.

  • Purpose The purpose of this study is to analyze the factors for continuous use intention of the simple payment service based on FinTech for Chinese residents in Korea. The Technology Acceptance Model(TAM) and the continuous use model of information system were applied to the AliPay service, which is the most used by Chinese people. Design/methodology/approach In this study, internal factors and external factors for the simple payment service were derived through previous studies and the effects of the users' perspectives on the intention of continuous use were analyzed. As a result, convenience, responsiveness, perceived usefulness, and suitability were supported as factors affecting ongoing intention to use simple payment service. Especially, convenience is a factor affecting the duration of the simple payment service and it is an important factor for the continuous use of the service. Findings As the number of foreigners living or working in Korea is increasing, understanding the perception of the simple payment service and analyzing the factors for the continuous use can be meaningful as a basic research for the market advancement and growth of domestic FinTech companies is.

A Study on Factors Affecting the Continued Usage Intention of Ubiquitous Services (유비쿼터스 서비스의 지속적 이용의도에 영향을 미치는 요인에 관한 연구: 유비쿼터스 시스템적 특성과 서비스 품질 요인을 중심으로)

  • Ubiquitous computing is enhancing computer use by making many computers available throughout the physical environment without being noticed to the users. To facilitate successful adoption and diffusion of ubiquitous systems, it is important to find out the factors affecting their uses. Although researches related to ubiquitous computing have been vigorously conducted from the aspect of system and service provider, there have been very few studies that focus on the user's perspective. This study attempts to find out major factors which are dedicated to the development of ubiquitous systems and services and the relationships between these factors and user satisfaction factors. This study derived the specific factors that characterize ubiquitous services, such as ubiquity, contextual offer, user affinity, privacy, reliability, responsiveness, assurance, and empathy. We also considered service quality factors of ubiquitous services. Then these factors were combined with the Expectation Confirmation Theory (ECT) model and the path analysis was applied to find out the factors affecting user satisfaction and the intention to use the systems. The research findings indicate that ubiquity, contextual offer, privacy, reliability, and responsiveness affect the perceived usefulness. The perceived ease of use and confirmation were found to affect the perceived usefulness. The perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, and confirmation fumed out to influence the satisfaction. It turned out that the result of this study on the relationship between the perceived usefulness and user satisfaction was identical with the findings in previous related ECT researches. We think this study makes two significant contributions to the development of ubiquitous services. First, this study provides basic implications for better ubiquitous services by considering important characteristics of ubiquitous systems as services. Second, this study also suggests important factors that need to be considered when ubiquitous service providers develop new ubiquitous services to improve user satisfaction and the intention to use the services.

A Study on Factors Related to Seniors' Use of Library Digital Information: Focusing on senior users of the National Library of Korea (시니어의 도서관 디지털 정보 이용 요인에 관한 연구 - 국립중앙도서관 시니어 이용자를 중심으로 -)

  • The purpose of this study is to identify (1) the attitudes of seniors toward library digitalization, (2) factors that lead them to use digital information in libraries, and (3) factors that hinder or prevent them from using digital information in libraries. As a result of conducting 1:1 in-depth interviews with 20 senior users of the National Library of Korea, the majority of seniors had a favorable attitude toward library digitalization. 'Librarian' and 'vision and font size' were found to be the most important factors for seniors' use of digital information. These two factors are factors that enable the use of digital information, but they are also factors that prevent or hinder the use of digital information. In addition, factors for the use of digital information include 'characteristics of the content' and 'convenience', factors for non-use include 'attitude and psychological factors' and 'physical properties of books', and hindering factors include 'website usability issues'.

Factors Influencing Behavioral Intention to Use Online Learning Systems from Student's Perspective: An Extended TAM Model

  • Purpose This study employed the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) to understand students' acceptance of online learning systems. Specifically, this study investigated the factors influencing the behavioral intention of South Korean major university students to use online learning systems for educational purposes in the period when their university life had largely returned to the state it was in before the COVID-19 pandemic. Design/methodology/approach This study examined the impact of four external factors: self-efficacy, personal innovativeness, perceived enjoyment, and system quality, on two TAM constructs: perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness. Additionally, this study explored how perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness affect the behavioral intention to use online learning systems. We conducted an online-based survey using a structured questionnaire. The data collected from the survey were then subjected to Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) analysis to test the study's hypotheses and examine the relationships among the various constructs. Findings The findings reveal that perceived usefulness and ease of use significantly influence students' behavioral intentions to use online learning systems. Furthermore, factors of self-efficacy, perceived enjoyment, and system quality positively affect perceived usefulness and ease of use. Notably, personal innovativeness impacts ease of use but not perceived usefulness.

  • The rapid development of information technology has affected many industries, and made consumers receive new services that are completely different from those of the past. In the financial industry, various changes are taking place, such as providing the payment system which is easy to use and offering differentiated services. This study examined the factors affecting the intention to use mobile payment system. In particular, we considered both practical and emotional factors that affect the intentions. The mobile payment system, which is a new form of payment, is rapidly developing in China. In Korea, it is still in the beginning stage due to the legal regulations and the activation of alternative payment methods. This study, therefore, compared the differences in factors that affect the intention to use mobile payment system between Korea and China.

Predictive Factors of Adolescents' Illicit Drug Use (청소년의 비치료적 약물사용에 관한 예측요인)

  • Purpose: This study was attempted to illuminate danger signals through an extensive analysis of factors influencing adolescents' illicit drug use. On this basis, it built predictive factors of adolescents' illicit drug use. Method: A questionnaire was distributed to 1,238 subjects living in Seoul, and of them 1,082 answers were analyzed using the SAS 8.2 program. Also logistic regression analysis was conducted based on the stepwise selection method for constructing the predictive factors. Results: The findings of this study are as follows. Individual-related factors were psycho-somatic symptoms, self-esteem, fortune delinquent experience, and sexual-violence delinquent experience. Home-related factors were insincerity, threatening and the assessment of the parent (rearer)-adolescent communication type. Society-related factors were affection of friends and friends' attitude toward delinquency. Conclusion: These findings of this study suggest that a broad intervention program should be provided to nurture wholesome youth culture related to illicit drug use. It is also recommended that a variety of individual, home and society-related programs should be developed for drug users.

An Empirical Study on Urban Land Use Changing Patterns with the Rapid Urban Expansion (급속한 도시팽창과정에서 도시토지이용변동의 실증적 연구)

  • The aim of this paper is to define major factors influencing land development of each of major uses (residential, commercial, industrial) in the process of rapid urban expansion. The main hypothesis of this study is that land use changing patterns are directed by supply side of land managed to public policies rather than demand side. The graphic analysis is applied to relationships between urban growth and land development process of each use and between land development project managed to public policies and land development process. Public and land development projects and zonning protection seem to be major roles of land supply and main determinants of urban spatial structure. Location factors for land development of each uses are selected in 23 variables. Factor analysis is applied to test correlation between variables in 1971 and 1981. Factor structure between two years is similar, but progressive processing of functional separation is derived such as intensive land use is grouped, different location between residential and industrial use is deep. Dependent variables are standardized to logarithm of land development of each use per unit vacant land in two periods, between 1971 and 1980 year and between 1981 year. Correlation analysis between 6 dependent variables and 23 location factors in each years are applied. Major factors of each use are selected in criteria such as high correlation with dependent variables, low correlation between independent variables and common application in two periods. As the result, major factors for residential land development are Land Readjustment Project (LRP), percent of total zoned area in residential zone, residential floor space density per available area, percent of total area in industrial use; for commercial development is distance to CBD, percent of total area in commercial use, residential floor space density per available area in each year, and volumn rate of industrial use; for industrial use is percent of total area of industrial use is percent of total area of industrial use, Industrial Estate Project (IES), LRP, and distance from CBD. Land development pattern of each use between two periods are slightly different. So 6 equation is derived from appling backward method of regession. Adjusted multiple R squares of all is more than 0.5 and those equation is statistically significant and valuable to assist urban land use forecasting.

Factors Influencing Intention of Vietnamese to Use Korean Medical Tourism (베트남인의 한국 의료관광 이용의도에 영향을 미치는 요인)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify factors related to Vietnamese customers who use Korean medical and tourism services. The study was based on the Anderson Models Methods: Participants were 173 Vietnamese who were living in Ho Chi Minh and Hanoi in Vietnam. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, ${\chi}^2$, t-test and Multiple Logistic Regression. Results: Research necessary factors had the most significant effect among the preceding factors, possible factors and necessary factors. Human service and outstanding natural beauty of necessary factors had significant influence on customer intention to use. According to the result of the stepwise logistic regression analysis, the most important item in medical services was human service OR=1.89 (p=.014), and for tour services, outstanding natural beauty OR=4.30 (p=.033). The explained variance for customer intention to use was 91.9%. Conclusion: These results suggest the need to improve the human service and outstanding natural beauty to retain customers' intention to use.
