Characteristics and changes of groundwater qualify were investigated in a riverbank filtration area at Daesan-myeon, Changwon City, Korea. The total dissolved solids (TDS) in groundwater samples collected in October were much less than that in March, indicating the mixing with recharged water from precipitation, as well as the changes of dissolved oxygen profiles at monitoring wells from March to October. Redox processes at depths appeared to trigger Fe and Mn contamination of groundwater in riverbank deposits. Amorphous oxyhydroxides md carbonate minerals such as $MnCO_3$ were probably the reactive phases for dissolved Fe and Mn, respectively. Groundwater contamination by nitrate-nitrogen $(NO_3-N)$ was controlled by the redox processes and subsequent denitrification at the sampled depths. Distribution of $NO_3-N$ concentrations at monitoring wells suggested that the nitrate contaminants were originated from agricultural facilities on the riverbank deposits. Some of monitoring wells, DS-2, D-2, DS-3, SJ-1, and SJ-3, were only partially penetrated into the sand/gravel aquifer, and subsequently, could not fully function to detect the water quality changes for the pumping wells. Proper measures, with regulating agricultural activities in the riverbank deposits, should be carried out to prevent groundwater contamination of the riverbank filtration area.
Urban flooding caused by localized heavy rainfall with unstable climate is constantly occurring, but a system that can predict spatial flood information with weather forecast has not been prepared yet. The worst flood situation in urban area can be occurred with difficulties of structural measures such as river levees, discharge capacity of urban sewage, storage basin of storm water, and pump facilities. However, identifying in advance the spatial flood information can have a decisive effect on minimizing flood damage. Therefore, this study presents a methodology that can predict the urban flood map in real-time by using rainfall data of the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA), the results of two-dimensional flood analysis and random forest (RF) regression model. The Ujeong district in Ulsan metropolitan city, which the flood is frequently occurred, was selected for the study area. The RF regression model predicted the flood map corresponding to the 50 mm, 80 mm, and 110 mm rainfall events with 6-hours duration. And, the predicted results showed 63%, 80%, and 67% goodness of fit compared to the results of two-dimensional flood analysis model. It is judged that the suggested results of this study can be utilized as basic data for evacuation and response to urban flooding that occurs suddenly.
In terms of worldwide rapid change in medical world, the purpose of this study is to investigate perception and attitude of students in dental hygienics concerning the opening of domestic medical market to overseas, so that it can prepare a chance to correctly identify positive and negative aspects of such change in medical market. For questions about effects of opening domestic medical market to overseas as well as pros and contras about it, it was found that there were significant differences in 'improved level of medical technology', 'reduced national medical expenses', 'extended supply of medical facilities' and 'facilitated medicine and medical equipment industry.'(p<0.00). For a question about perception of potential crisis from opening of domestic medical market to overseas, it was found that 55.6% of pro group had no mind of such crisis, whereas 52.3% of contra group had such a mind of crisis. Both cases showed significant differences on a statistical basis (p<0.003). It is recommended that follow-up studies should make a comparative analysis involving students in public health as well as dental hygienics so as to explore even possible ways to take measures for opening of domestic medical market to overseas.
This is a correlational study to investigate the degree of expectation regarding aging, depression and health promotion lifestyle and to identify the factors influencing health promotion lifestyle among health checkup examinee. The subjects of the study were 143 health checkup examinee who visited the M medical center located in G Metropolitan city. Data were collected from July 5 to 21, 2016 using the structured questionnaire of self-report form. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation, and hierarchical regression. As a result, health promoting lifestyle were correlated with expectation regarding aging positively, and with depression negatively. The factors influencing the health promotion lifestyle were education level, perceived health status, time to move to health care facilities, expectation regarding aging, and depression. With controlled general characteristics, the level of health promotion lifestyle was better explained by the addition of the independent variables of expectation regarding aging, and depression, and the explanatory power of the final model was calculated as 27.0%. Therefore, in order to improve health-promoting lifestyle, it is necessary to consider cognitive factors (knowledge, expectation regarding aging) and psychological factor (depression) besides physical approach.
Hot springs development will be more activated with the five-day work week system than before. Nevertheless, investment and development achievement of hot springs has not resulted in a successful performance to foster townships, and this calls upon locals to build a guideline to develop hot springs. This study intends to analyze laws on hot springs, which influence mostly on the hot spring development, to gather up the information on the present state of the development, and to suggest considerations for further development plans. Features of the hot spring development are as follows: One is that metropolitan cities will discover hot spring resources more than small cities. Therefore the development will be twofold : one for resort tour and the other for one-day rest and recreation. In addition, Korean laws on hot springs are more site development-oriented to support tourism and recreation than to protect environment and discover unused resources. This makes hot spring development easier and efficient being supported by hot spring law, law on territory development and use, and tourism promotion law. On the other side, planned landscape trimming can be uniformized and unharmonized in terms of local identity and environment-friendliness. This is why careful considerations such as goods and bads of the local resources, local history and culture are needed in hot spring development. A long-term development project should include remodeling based on local identity and development trends. The third point indicates that Korean hot springs development has recorded relatively low performance due to difficult private capital attraction, and a high fence on land purchase and development approval. It is essential to release restrictions on the hot spring development-especially on those whose development performance has not been successful so that best practice can be supported by the government in remodeling and marketing. New plans on hot spring development should be also examined based on developer's capacity and local authorities' volition on the plan. Last point shows that most hot springs development plans have been designed only based on territory utilizing plan and facilities arrangement, not considering much on fund-raising, operational plan or feasibility analysis. Therefore the tourism promotion law should reinforce guidelines on tourist site approval system by supplementing criteria. At the same time, an education on tourism development planning is necessary to deepen developers' understanding, since most developers are experts more on city development, landscape architecture, designing, constructing and engineering than tourism development.

Due to the rapid increase of vehicles on the street, Korean society is facing worsening traffic congestions and air pollutions. Also, the oil price pickup has led to increasing need for the use of public transportation. In particular, transfering among public transportation may be a main factor for riders who are commuting for a long distance journey. In order to ensure such connectivity, transfer stations have been actively built in Korea. However, it would be necessary to shift those vehicles, from cars to public transportations by enhancing the users' satisfaction with public transportation through strategies for minimizing the users' waiting cost by building an efficient connective system between transportation modes as well as the preparation of aforementioned transfer stations. Therefore, this study aimed to develop an algorithm for minimizing transferring passengers' waiting costs based on service intervals of linked buses within the transfer facilities. In order to adjust the service interval, we calculated the total costs, involving the wait cost of transfer passengers and bus operation costs, and produced an allocation interval, that would minimize the costs. We selected a KTX departing from Seoul station, and a No. 6014 bus route in Gwangmyeong city where it starts from the Gwangmyeong station in order to for verifying the model. Then, the transfer passengers' total waitting cost was reduced equivalent to the maximum of 212 minutes, and it revealed that the model performed very effectively.
This study was conducted to identify groundwater recharge and discharge amounts of a representative urban-rural composite area located in Yongin city, Kyounggi-do, Korea. Groundwater recharge would be affected by mainly two processes in the study area: rainfall and leakage from public water pipelines including water-supply and sewage system. Groundwater recharge rate was estimated to be 13.5% by applying annual groundwater level data from two National Groundwater Monitoring Stations to the master regression curve method. Subsequently, the recharge amounts were determined to be $13,253{\times}10^3m^3/yr$. Leakage amounts from water-supply and sewage system were estimated to be $3,218{\times}10^3$ and $5,696{\times}10^3m^3/yr$, respectively. On the whole, a total of the recharge amounts was $22,167{\times}10^3m^3/yr$, of which 60% covers rainfall recharge and 40% pipeline leakage. Groundwater discharge occurred through three processes in the composite area: baseflow, well pumping, and discharge from urban infrastructure including groundwater infiltration into sewage pipeline and artificial extraction of groundwater to protect underground facilities from submergence. Discharge amounts by baseflow flowing to the Kiheung agricultural reservoir and well pumping were estimated to be $382{\times}10^3$ and $1,323{\times}10^3m^3/yr$, respectively. Occurrence of groundwater infiltration into sewage pipeline was rarely identified. Groundwater extraction amounts from the Bundang subway line as an underground facility were identified as $714{\times}10^3m^3/yr$. Overall, a total of the discharge amounts was determined to be $2,419{\times}10^3m^3/yr$, which was contributed by 29% of artificial discharge. Even though groundwater budget of the composite area was identified to be a surplus, it should be managed for a sound groundwater environment by changing deteriorated pipelines and controlling artificial discharge amounts.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of childcare teachers' empowerment on affective commitment. For that, a survey was conducted of childcare teachers working at private-sector childcare facilities located at S City of Jeollanam-do. Data collected from 247 questionnaires were used for analysis, excluding those containing insincere answers. The collected data were investigated using SPSS 18.0, a statistical program, through reliability analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, t/F-test, Scheffe post-hoc test, and hierarchical regression analysis. Major results of analysis were as follows: A difference in affective commitment was observed, depending on age and remuneration, the demographic characteristics of childcare teachers. Hierarchical regression analysis was conducted by factoring in each sub-variable of empowerment with demographic characteristics of childcare teachers being controlled. Among the empowerment variables of childcare teachers, significance, capability, and self-determination were found to have an effect on affective commitment. Meanwhile, the extent of influence did not have any effect on affective commitment. Finally, the variable that had the greatest effect on affective commitment of childcare teachers was significance among empowerment variables.

Green remodeling proposed in the Korean New Deal is a project to build or remodel eco-friendly and energy-efficient buildings using renewable energy facilities and high-performance insulation for public buildings. The government intends to achieve the carbon emission reduction target by conducting green remodeling. Major overseas cities that conduct green remodeling are actively promoting technology support and promotion along with energy performance evaluation according to building characteristics, subsidies for private revitalization, and tax benefits. With this background, the analysis of the current status and problems of the green remodeling project was performed and the Activation factors of Green Remodeling were derived from survey results. This study suggested strategic measures such as a participation of civil society, promotion, and priority selection of administration and policy measures such as a leading role of the public sector, expanding support for the socially underprivileged, and financial support and tax benefits. And this study results are expected to be utilized as basic data to promote the green remodeling project.

The rural area of S. Korea has been excluded from the process of industrialization and urbanization, and is to be faced with a serious crisis in the context of recent globalization/localization with a rapid economic and political change. And hence it is required to give a active attention to community-based welfare for rural areas. The status of welfare of Koryung-gun as such a rural area adjacent to Daegu city is still low, even though recently it has been improved dramatically, and the welfare policy seems not to reflect the rapidly changing conditions of reality, though it has been institutionalized systematically. What is more, the number of dwellers who demand basic welfare has been increased, as welfare services seem not to delivered to them. In order to improve this totally low level of social welfare, major tasks should be pursued to formulate as basic principles an integral approach for community-based welfare and ultimately a restoration of rural community; to construct a mobilization system of diverse resources within community, to develop connections between welfare demanders and providers, and networks of institutes and facilities for community welfare; and to find out and to extend financial sources for welfare policies.
