  • The methodological framework proposed in this paper addresses the strength of the applied Bass model by Mahajan and Muller(1996) that it reflects the substitution of next generations among products. Also this paper is to estimate and analyze the forecast of demand for products that do not exist in the marketplace. We forecast the sales of digital TV using estimated market share and data obtained by the face to face Interview. In this research, we use two methods to analyze the demand for Digital TV that are the forecasting the Demand for the Substitution and binary logit analysis. The logit analysis is to estimate the decisive factor of purchasing digital TV. The decisive factors are composed of purchasing plan, region, gender, TV price, contents, coverage, income, age, and TV program. We apply the model to South Korea's market for digital TV. The results show that (1) Income, region and TV price play a prominent part which is the decisive factor of purchasing digital TV. (2) We forecaste the demand of digital TV that will be demanded about 18 millions TVs in 2015

  • BACKGROUND: Immigration to South Korea from neighboring Asian countries has risen dramatically, primarily due to marriage between Korean men and foreign women. Although Filipino women rank fourth among married immigrant women, little is known about the health condition of this population. This manuscript focuses on the design and methods of Filipino women's diet and health study (FiLWHEL). SUBJECTS/METHODS: FiLWHEL is a cohort of Filipino women married to Korean men, aged 19 years old or over. The data collection comprised three parts: questionnaire, physical examination, and biospecimen collection. Questionnaires focused on demographic factors, diet, other health-related behaviors, acculturation and immigration-related factors, medical history, quality of life, and children's health information. Participants visited the recruitment site and answered the structured questionnaires through a face-to-face interview. We also measured their anthropometric features and collected fasting blood samples, toenails, and DNA samples. Recruitment started in 2014. RESULTS/CONCLUSIONS: Collection of data is ongoing, and we plan to prospectively follow our cohort participants. We expect that our study, which is focused on married Filipino women immigrants, can elucidate nutritional/health status and the effects of transitional experiences from several lifestyle factors.

  • Purpose: This study was to provide understanding of the meaning of the transition experiences in pregnancy and childbirth among the married immigrant women. Methods: Data was collected through a face-to-face interview from 11 married immigrant women. Their conjugal lives were followed using the hermeneutics phenomenological method developed by van Manen: focusing on the meaning of lived experience. Results: The essential themes that were associated with the transition experiences of the participants' lives during pregnancy and childbirth were as follows: "entering a strange world filled with chaos and tension where they feel like outsiders", "being pregnant and giving birth in increasingly difficult times", "giving birth to a child, which strengthens them to persevere through painful life experiences", "receiving greater support from their families". Conclusion: It contributes a deeper understanding of the essence of the transition experiences of married immigrant women who undergo pregnancy and childbirth after immigration. On the basis of this understanding, this study would be likely to highlight the importance of establishing an appropriate health and medicare systems and the expert network of nursing care for immigrant wom.

In the subscales, the highest degree of performance was 'nutrition', following 'interpersonal relationship', 'stress management', 'health responsibility' and 'spiritual growth' and the lowest degree of performance was 'physical activity'. 2) Elderly people living in urban area had significantly higher the total HPLP score than elderly people living in rural area The urban elderly had significantly higher the score of HPLP subscales such as 'physical activity', 'interpersonal relationship' and stress management than rural elderly. 3) The mean score of perceived health status was 8.79. There was no significant difference in the perceived health status between urban and rural elderly. Conclusions: The above findings indicate that it is necessary to develop a health promotion program with reinforced physical activity, health responsibility and spiritual growth for elderly people in Korea. Especially the physical activity need to he strengthened for rural elderly.

  • Purpose: The purposes of this study were to explore the concept of uncertainty and to examine the relationships among uncertainty, appraisal of uncertainty, depression, anxiety, and perceived health status in patients with atrial fibrillation. Method: The study utilized a descriptive correlational survey design using a face to face interview method. A convenience sample of 49 subjects were recruited from K university hospital over 8 months. The data were analyzed by t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation and partial correlation analysis. Results: 1) Subjects perceived with moderately high uncertainty(M=65.98); moderate physical health(M=39.80), mental health(M=47.38), and general health(M=2.94); moderate anxiety(M= 44.78); and slightly low depression(M=15.33). 2) There were significant differences in uncertainty by gender and education. 3) Uncertainty and danger appraisal were significantly correlated(r=.32, p=.03) while the uncertainty was not associated with opportunity appraisal. 4) Uncertainty was significantly correlated with mental health(r=-.31, p=.04), anxiety(r=.38, p=.01), and depression(r=.37, p=.01). Conclusion: This study was the first trial to explore uncertainty and to examine the relationships among its associated factors in Korean patients with atrial fibrillation. Thus, based on the findings of this study, directions for nursing practice and further nursing research for patients with atrial fibrillation were suggested.

For this purpose, 5 ALFs which have been well known as best practices in rural Virginia were selected for a multi- site case study. Face-to-face interview with administrators or assistant administrators of i facilities were done. In addition to this, written materials about the each facility and personal record from researcher were used to analyze the data. Six management categories including 82 open-ended questions were analyzed and successful examples and management difficulties were identified from best practices. Based on the results, some recommendations for development of ALFs in Korean elderly were suggested. In short, this study found that best practices which were selected and analyzed in this study showed that successful management was resulted from continuous efforts of the stalls to provide better services in order for improving the quality of life of their residents.

  • Purpose: This study was aimed to identify the health related quality of life(HRQoL) by job characteristics and its predictors in Korean adult women. Methods: This study used data from cross-sectional surveys conducted for the 2005 National Health and Nutrition Survey, which was performed by using a face-to-face interview method. The data were analyzed by ANOVA, t-test and multiple regression using the SPSS program. Demographic characteristics, subject health state, EQ-5D were included in the study instruments. Results: The mean HRQoL index in the subjects was $0.792{\pm}0.102$. There were significant statistical differences on HRQoL among job characteristics. The health related quality of life of non-physical workers was the highest. The significant predictors of the HRQoL of all subjects were the subjective health status, the present health status compared to the previous year, education, age, marital status and income. The factors accounted for 22.1% of variance in the health related quality of life and the predictors of the HRQoL among job characteristics were different. Conclusion: These results may contribute to development of nursing strategy to improve female health related quality of life. The health related quality of life program for adult women by job characteristics is advised based on results of the study.

The additional research to clarify the role of employment instability is recommended. Research on social policy to resolve health inequalities is recommended.

  • The purpose of this study was to find out the nationwide general characteristics and housing environments of agricultural households and the differences of them by Eup-Myun Areas. The data were subsample of the 2008 survey on the rural living indicators collected by the rural development administration. Only agricultural households, 73.7% of the original nationwide data (1,461 households out of 1,983) sampled by multi-stage stratified clustering methods and face to face interview in Aug. 2008, were selected and the cross-tabulation(X2) was mainly used to find the difference by Eup Myun areas through spss 12.0 for window. The results showed that the general characteristics of agricultural households such as head of household, family, and economic characteristics were mainly differed by Eup Myun Areas. Agricultural households in Eup area were more likely low in the general characteristics than were those in Myun area. Housing environments were less likely than the general characteristics differed by Eup Myun areas. Improvements of drinking water system, housing alteration, oder, and garbage system were needed to increase the satisfaction with residential environments of agricultural households. This study suggests the use of annual survey on the rural living indicators data would be applicable to various research subjects of home economics.
