  • This paper presents a fast pattern tracking method using location prediction in cubemap video for 360-degree VR. A spherical cubemap frame has six face textures and searching a pattern is much slower than a flat image. To overcome the limitation, we propose a method of predicting the location of target pattern using Kalman filter and reducing the search area by considering only textures of predicted location. The experimental results showed that the proposed system is much faster than the previous method of searching all six faces and also gives accurate pattern tracking performance.

  • Uncertainty is ubiquitous in target tracking wireless sensor networks due to environmental noise, randomness of target mobility and other factors. Sensing results are always unreliable. This paper considers unreliability as it occurs in wireless sensor networks and its impact on target-tracking accuracy. Firstly, we map intersection pairwise sensors' uncertain boundaries, which divides the monitor area into faces. Each face has a unique signature vector. For each target localization, a sampling vector is built after multiple grouping samplings determine whether the RSS (Received Signal Strength) for a pairwise nodes' is ordinal or flipped. A Fault-Tolerant Target-Tracking (FTTT) strategy is proposed, which transforms the tracking problem into a vector matching process that increases the tracking flexibility and accuracy while reducing the influence of in-the-filed factors. In addition, a heuristic matching algorithm is introduced to reduce the computational complexity. The fault tolerance of FTTT is also discussed. An extension of FTTT is then proposed by quantifying the pairwise uncertainty to further enhance robustness. Results show FTTT is more flexible, more robust and more accurate than parallel approaches.

  • The vision-based driver fatigue detection is one of the most prospective commercial applications of facial expression recognition technology. The facial feature tracking is the primary technique issue in it. Current facial tracking technology faces three challenges: (1) detection failure of some or all of features due to a variety of lighting conditions and head motions; (2) multiple and non-rigid object tracking; and (3) features occlusion when the head is in oblique angles. In this paper, we propose a new active approach. First, the active IR sensor is used to robustly detect pupils under variable lighting conditions. The detected pupils are then used to predict the head motion. Furthermore, face movement is assumed to be locally smooth so that a facial feature can be tracked with a Kalman filter. The simultaneous use of the pupil constraint and the Kalman filtering greatly increases the prediction accuracy for each feature position. Feature detection is accomplished in the Gabor space with respect to the vicinity of predicted location. Local graphs consisting of identified features are extracted and used to capture the spatial relationship among detected features. Finally, a graph-based reliability propagation is proposed to tackle the occlusion problem and verify the tracking results. The experimental results show validity of our active approach to real-life facial tracking under variable lighting conditions, head orientations, and facial expressions.

  • This paper conceptualizes the two-faced platform based on interface studies and two-sided market theory to critically analyze today's information technology culture such as the Internet. With this conceptual framework, the Internet can be investigated to have two faces, in which the square of user's openness, sharing, and participation is unfold on the front face, whereas the market of tracking, surveillance, and control of user's activities is formed on the other face. The two faces contradictorily coexist, resulting in technological and cultural dynamics on the Internet. Therefore, the Internet today as a two-faced platform can be described as a square-market interface. By analyzing on transformation of the web architecture, shift of informational commodity from content to data, and web bugs' user tracking across two faces, it examines how the world wide web itself can function as a two-faced platform. Lastly, implications and further works are suggested to improve the two-faced platform as a conceptual framework and to deeply analyze broader information technology culture based on it.

  • We propose a robust tracking method that combines the merits of ACM(active contour model) and the color-based PF(particle filter), effectively. In the proposed method, PF and ACM track the color distribution and the contour of the target, respectively, and Decision part merges the estimate results from the two trackers to determine the position and scale of the target and to update the target model. By controlling the internal energy of ACM based on the estimate of the position and scale from PF tracker, we can prevent the snake pointers from falsely converging to the background clutters. We appled the proposed method to track the head of person in video and have conducted computer experiments to analyze the errors of the estimated position and scale.

  • In this paper, we introduce a probabilistic model based on Bayesian networks BNs) for recognizing human fatigue. First of all, we measured face feature information such as eyelid movement, gaze, head movement, and facial expression by IR illumination. But, an individual face feature information does not provide enough information to determine human fatigue. Therefore in this paper, a Bayesian network model was constructed to fuse as many as possible fatigue cause parameters and face feature information for probabilistic inferring human fatigue. The MSBNX simulation result ending a 0.95 BN fatigue index threshold. As a result of the experiment, when comparisons are inferred BN fatigue index and the TOVA response time, there is a mutual correlation and from this information we can conclude that this method is very effective at recognizing a human fatigue.

  • In this paper, an intelligent security camera over internet is proposed. Among ISC methods, watersheds based methods produce a good performance in segmentation accuracy. But traditional watershed transform has been suffered from over-segmentation due to small local minima included in gradient image that is input to the watershed transform. And a zone face candidates of detection using skin-color model. last step, face to check at face of candidate location using SVM method. It is extract of wavelet transform coefficient to the zone face candidated. Therefore, it is likely that it is applicable to read world problem, such as object tracking, surveillance, and human computer interface application etc.

  • In this study, we design and implement an eye-gaze estimation system based on the extraction of eye contour and pupil region. In order to effectively extract the contour of the eye and region of pupil, the face candidate regions were extracted first. For the detection of face, YCbCr value range for normal Asian face color was defined by the pre-study of the Asian face images. The biggest skin color region was defined as a face candidate region and the eye regions were extracted by applying the contour and color feature analysis method to the upper 50% region of the face candidate region. The detected eye region was divided into three segments and the pupil pixels in each pupil segment were counted. The eye-gaze was determined into one of three directions, that is, left, center, and right, by the number of pupil pixels in three segments. In the experiments using 5,616 images of 20 test subjects, the eye-gaze was estimated with about 91 percent accuracy.
