  • A micro-vacuum sensor was fabricated for the measurement of the vacuum level in micro-space. The fact that the field emission current was dependent on the environmental vacuum level was employed as an operating principle. The fabricated lateral-type field emitter triode with a cathode, a gate and a anode separated by using the surface micromachining process showed the emission current variation in the range of $1.20{\sim}2.42\;{\mu}A$ for the vacuum range of $10^{-5}{\sim}10^{-8}\;Torr$.

  • In this research, the pH sensor was developed using CNT nanosheet with Nafion coating for the advanced medical sensor such as a blood gas analyzer. The CNT nanosheet was formed by dielectrophoresis and water-meniscus between cantilever-type electrodes. Then, the process of the heat annealing and the Nafion coating was conducted for reducing contact resistance and giving proton selectivity respectively. We measured the response of the pH sensor as the electrolyte-gated CNT-nanosheet field effect transistor. The sensor showed a linear current ratio in a similar range of the normal blood pH. A calibration method for decreasing of the response variation among sensors has also been introduced. Coefficient of variance of the pH sensor was decreased by applying the calibration method. A linear relation between the calibrated response of the sensors and pH variance was also obtained. Finally, the pH sensor with a high resolution was fabricated and we verify the feasibility of the sensor by applying the calibration method.

  • This paper presents the fabrication and performance inspection of a peristaltic micropump by flow simulation. The valve-less micropump using the diffuser/nozzle is consists of base plate, mid plate, top plate and connection tubes fur inlet and outlet. In detail, the base plate is composed of two diffuser nozzles and three chambers, the mid plate consists of a glass diaphragm for the volumetric change of the pumping chamber. The inlet and outlet tubes are connected at the top plate and the actuator fur pressing the diaphragm is located beneath the top plate. The micropump is fabricated on the silicon wafer by DRIE (Deep Reactive ion Etching) process. The pumping performances are tested by the pneumatic test rig and compared with the simulated results fur various dimensions of diffuser nozzles. The pumping characteristics of the micropump by the volumetric change at the pumping chamber is modeled and simulated by the commercial software of FLOW-3D. The simulated results shows that reverse flow is the inherent phenomena in the diffuser nozzle type micropump, but it can be reduced at the dual pumping chamber model.

  • Recently the solution-based thin film technology has often been treated in the field of device fabrication owing to easy process and convenience for the development of various semiconductor devices and sensors. We deposited on glass substrate single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs)/silane hybrid thin films by multiple spray-coating which is one of solution-based processes, and examined their electrical response for humidity. Generally silane binders which are often mixed in carbon nanotube (CNT) solution to adhere CNTs to substrate well form easily each own functionalized group on the surface of CNTs after they are hardened by way of the hydrolysis reaction. In this work, we investigated how silane binders (TEOS (tetraethoxy silane), MTMS (methyltrimethoxysilane) and VTMS (vinyltrimethoxysilane)) in CNT thin films make effect to their electrical response on humidity. As the result, we found that the resistance in the samples using TEOS was changed dramatically while it was almost invariant in the samples using MTMS and VTMS for increasing humidity.

  • In this experiment, OLEDs(Organic Light Emitting Diodes) was fabricated to confirm effect of Plasma treatment which increase the hole injection characteristic from anode. Device structure was $ITO/2-TNATA/{\alpha}-NPD/DPVBi/BAlq/Alq_3/Al:Li$. We used DPVBi (4, 4 - Bis (2,2-diphenylethen-1-yls) - Biphenyl) as a blue emitting material. To optimize the process condition of plasma treatment, we used 2 gases of the oxygen and nitrogen gas under 120 mTorr with 100 W, 200 W, and 400 W plasma power. The current efficiency of $N_2$ plasma is more efficient than that of $O_2$ plasma. At $1000 cd/m^2$, we obtained the maximum current efficiency of 6.45 cd/A using $N_2$ gas with 200 W plasma power.

  • In this paper, we described the design and test results of a high output power amplifier MMIC developed by using 0.5um power pHEMT processes on a 6-inch GaAs wafer for the X-band T/R module application. In the MMIC design, we have used a simple on-chip gate active bias technology to compensate the threshold-voltage variation of pHEMT during the fabrication process and 16-to-1 power combining method to achieve the output power over 10watt. The fabricated chip has an output power over 12watts and maximum PAE of 32% over the frequency range of fo +/-750MHz.

  • Induction cooktop has a great attention due to its safety, quick heating and cleanness compared to gas oven. However, the materials for induction cookware is limited to steel or stainless-steel which has the magnetic property. Recently, it has been tried to apply various porcelain to induction cookware after printing the silver layer on the bottom of cookware plates and co-firing at high temperature. Glass frits are added in the silver paste to improve an adhesion force between porcelain materials containers and transferred silver layer. The hybrid silver pastes for induction cookware requires the proper electrical resistance and the thermal conductivity with base plates. After sintering process at $800^{\circ}C$, a part of melted glass migrated to the porcelain and the rest of the glass frit was exposed to the surface. It was confirmed that most of the glass frit formed an adhesion layer between the porcelain and transferred silver layer that enhances the adhesion force.

  • Continuous fiber-reinforced ceramic matrix composites (CFCCs) have a complex distribution of porosity, consisting of interfiber micro pores and interbundle/interply macro pores. Owing to the complex geometry of the pores and fiber architecture, it is difficult to obtain representative microstructural features throughout the specimen volume with conventional, destructive ceramographic approaches. In this study, we introduce X-ray computed microtomography (X-ray ${\mu}CT$) to nondestructively analyze the microstructures of disk shaped and tubular $SiC_f$/SiC composites fabricated by the chemical vapor infiltration (CVI) method. The disk specimen made by stacking plain-woven SiC fabrics exhibited periodic, large fluctuation of porosity in the stacking direction but much less variation of porosity perpendicular to the fabric planes. The X-ray ${\mu}CT$ evaluation of the microstructure was also effectively utilized to improve the fabrication process of the triple-layered tubular SiC composite.

  • The enhancement of photoluminescence of Au-$TiO_2$ nanoparticles by surface plasmon resonance has been studied extensively by experiment in recent years. For the purpose of optimizing the photoluminescence property of Au-$TiO_2$ nanoparticles, the manufacturing parameters related to the Au nanoparticles and $TiO_2$ nanoparticles need to be considered. In this paper, Drude model and Maier's effective volume method are used to analyze the variation of the metal nanoparticle radius, separation between metal nanoparticle and dielectric molecule, and total absorption cross-section with original radiative efficiency on the photoluminescence property of Au-$TiO_2$ nanoparticles. The results show that to obtain the optimized enhancement factor for photoluminescence process, the size of Au nanoparticle is about 13 - 20 nm, the separation between Au nanoparticle and $TiO_2$ molecule is about 5 -15 nm, the total absorption cross-section of $TiO_2$ molecules is about $1-100nm^2$ and the original radiative efficiency of $TiO_2$ molecule is weak about 0.001- 0.1. With these fabrication parameters, the photoluminescence property of Au-$TiO_2$ nanoparticles can be enhanced several thousand times compared to traditional $TiO_2$ nanoparticles.

  • It is a paper for design, manufacture and estimation of industry inkjet head. Simulations for Actuator, Ink flow and Ejection are executed for securing design ability. Relations between droplet and properties of ink are explained closely through simulation for nozzle. Actually, two silicon plates are made by dry and wet etching and directly bonded. PZT materials is attached on the bended ink flow part and cut to $540{\mu}m$ interval by dicing saw. Actuator was seen variation within 10% between simulation and actual head. Through the ejection estimation, it is shown that stabilized driving voltages change according to viscosity and surface tension of metal ink. Using the metal ink of viscosity of 4.8 cps and surface tension of 0.025 N/m, it is possible to eject the stable droplets with 5m/s, 20 pl, 5 kHz.
