단일 24GHz FMCW 레이더 및 2D CNN을 이용하여 학습되지 않은 요구조자의 자세 추정 기법 (An Untrained Person's Posture Estimation Scheme by Exploiting a Single 24GHz FMCW Radar and 2D CNN)

  • 연구목적: 본 연구에서는 단일 24GHz FMCW레이더를 사용하여 수집된 적은 양의 학습데이터로 학습된 AI 모델을 사용하여 학습되지 않은 사람의 3가지 자세를 구분하고자 한다. 연구방법: 실내에서 학습 대상자들의 3가지 자세(서기, 앉기, 눕기)에 대한 FFT데이터를 수집하여 2D 이미지로 변환시킨 후 제안하는 2D CNN 모델로 학습시켜 학습에 사용되지 않은 새로운 대상자들의 자세를 잘 구분할 수 있는지 실험을 통해 정확도를 분석하였다. 연구결과: 제안하는 기법을 통해 3가지 자세의 평균 정확도가 89.99%임을 보였고, 기존의 1D CNN이나 SVM 보다 성능이 향상되었다. 결론: 실내에서 재난이 발생하는 경우 단일 FMCW 레이더와 AI 기법을 통해 요구조자의 자세를 추정하고자 하였으며, 학습되지 않은 대상자의 자세도 높은 정확도로 추정이 가능함을 실험을 통해 확인하였다.

  • To detect targets for autonomous navigation of unmanned ground vehicle, mounted sensors are required to work all-weather condition. In this point of view, the FMCW radar is quietly appropriate. In this paper, we present development results of target signal simulator for multi-beam type FMCW radar. A target signal simulator make pseudo target signals which simulates multiple moving targets. And we describe how to make hit information for each target in multi-beam type radar. The developed methods are utilized for target tracking device. Moreover it can be applied to similar target signal simulator.

  • This paper presents a real time distance measuring device using a W-band linear frequency modulated continuous wave(FMCW) radar and TMS320C6701 digital signal processor(DSP). We used FFT operation for measuring distance with the beat signals and the results of FFT could be converted to distance with ease. We presented how to implement a real time miniaturized hardware system including network protocols using a single DSP core. Also how to control the modulation signal of FMCW system to compensate the VCO nonlinearity using the Time Gating control of DSP is presented. We have shown that the proposed system has good performances for measuring distance in real time via outdoor environment experiments.

지면 클러터 환경에서 금속표적감지를 위한 W-대역 FMCW 레이더의 설계 및 제작 (Design and Fabrication of a W-band FMCW Radar for the Metal Target Detection Under the Ground Clutter Environment)

  • In this paper, we describe the design, fabrication, and test results of a W-band FMCW radar for the metal target detection under the ground clutter environment. In order to detect metal targets on the ground, we used a single cassegrain antenna with the beamwidth of $1.45^{\circ}$ which forms pencil-beam footprint on the ground. A log envelope detector was applied to improve radar performance in the severe ground clutter known as Weibull and log normal clutter. The designed FMCW radar can acquire altitude information from the ground clutter with $\sigma_0=-23dB$ at the height of 160m. The fabricated W-band FMCW radar transmits 11 dBm power and the dynamic range of the receiver is from -106dBm to -30dBm. The performances of the fabricated sensors were tested out in the fields and detected a car target of 200m apart on the grass.

  • In this paper, we design the signal processing unit to effectively support the proposed algorithm for an automotive Frequency Modulation Continuous Wave(FMCW) radar. In the proposed method, we can obtain the distance and velocity with improved error depending on each range(long, middle, and short) of the target. Since a high computational capacity is required to obtain more accurate distance and velocity for target in near range, the proposed signal processing unit employs the time de-interleaving and the frequency interpolation method to overcome the limitation. Moreover, for real-time signal processing, the parallel architecture is used to extract simultaneously the distance and velocity in each range.

  • FMCW 레이더에서 주파수 램프 신호를 발생시키기 위하여 필요한 타입-3 PLL의 설계 가이드를 제시하였다. 그러기 위해서 개루프 전달함수의 크로스오버 주파수를 1 Hz로 정규화 한 조건에서 Pspice 시뮬레이션을 통하여 폐루프 특성을 비교하였다. 결론적으로 타입-3 PLL의 1) 위상여유는 45도로 하고, 2) 두 개의 영점은 같도록 하며, 3) PLL 차수를 높이기 위한 극점은 개루프 전달함수의 크로스오버 주파수보다 10배 정도 크게 할 것을 권한다.

Real FFT를 이용한 FMCW 레이더 신호처리 (FMCW RADAR SIGNAL PROCESS USING REAL FFT)

  • FMCW 레이더 신호처리를 위해 Real FFT를 적용하였다. Real FFT와 디지털신호처리를 이용하여 정확한 거리를 측정하기 위해서는 FMCW 레이더의 차 주파수 성분이 정확하고 주파수 분해능이 높아야 한다. 본 논문은 높은 분해능의 차 주파수 성분을 추출하기 위한 알고리듬을 구현하여 Matlab으로 시뮬레이션 하였다. 사용된 알고리듬은 Zoom FFT, Decimation, 디지털 저역통과 필터, Zero Padding 등을 이용하였으며, 시뮬레이션 결과 거리측정범위는 35m이내이며, 정확도는 ${\pm}5mm$였다.

스마트폰을 이용한 호흡 측정에 관한 연구 (A Study on Respiration Measurement Using a Smartphone)

  • In this paper, a respiration measurement method using FMCW signal for off-the-shelf smartphone is presented and investigated. The proposed algorithm transmits FMCW signal periodically instead of transmitting continuously so that one can reduce the power consumption from speaker in smartphone and the algorithm complexity. In order to eliminate the clicking noise generated when transmitting FMCW signal, Tukey window with ${\alpha}=0.01$ is applied to prevent the noise from being heard. An application program for Android OS which can transmit FMCW signal through speaker and record the reflected signals through MIC has been developed. Since the total duration of the signal transmission is set to 20msec per 1 second for the experiments, the power consumption can be decreased by 80% compared to the continuous transmission. It was confirmed that the clicking noise is inaudible as long as a smartphone is located at more than 10cm from ears. In the experiments on a sleeping child, the breathing signal of about 0.27Hz was measured.

  • In this paper, we propose a widerange array microphone for lecturer tracked with Frequency Modulated Continuous Waveform (FMCW) radar sensor. Time Difference-of-Arrival (TDoA) is often used as audio tracking, but the tracking accuracy is poor because the frequency of the voice is low and the relative frequency change is large. FMCW radar has a simple structure and is used to detect obstacles for vehicles, and the resolution can be archived to several centimeter. It is shown that the sensor is useful for detecting a speaker in open area such as a lecture, and we propose an wide range 4-element array microphone beamforming system. Through some experiments, the proposed system is able to adequately track the location and showed a 8.6dB improvement over the selection of the best microphone.

  • In this paper, we implement a distributed FMCW MIMO radar system to obtain Micro Doppler signatures of target motions. In addition, we also develop federated learning based motion recognition algorithm based on the Micro-Doppler radar signature collected by the implemented FMCW MIMO radar system. Through the experiment, we have verified that the proposed federated learning based algorithm can improve the motion recognition accuracy up to 90%.
