The Effect of Auditory and Visual Feedback on Symmetric Weight Bearing with Hemiplegia (성인 편마비 환자에서 시각 되먹임과 청각 되먹임이 체중 지지에 미치는 효과)

  • Objectives : Asymmetrical weight bearing during standing has been identified as a common problem in persons with hemiplegia. This study examined the effect of auditory and visual feedback on symmetric weight bearing with hemiplegia. Method: The intervention program was instituted for 10 min each day with a total of twelve treatment sessions. The machine which was used for this study is the Weight Balancer, OG GIKEN, WB-202, Japan Result: There was a significant improvement of symmetric weight distribution in auditory feedback group whereas the visual feedback group disclosed some improvement but not significantly. There was no significant change in control group. Conclusion: Results of this study suggest that an auditary feedback group can be more effective than visual feedback group or control group in helping the persons with hemiplegia achieve symmetric stance.

Stuttering Reduction Rate during Sentence Reading: Choral Speech and Altered Auditory Feedback (문장읽기에서의 말더듬 감소율: 합독과 변조청각피드백)

  • This paper mainly aims to investigate how differently choral speech and altered auditory feedback (i.e., delayed auditory feedback, frequency-altered feedback) enhance speech fluency during sentence reading. To do this, a stuttering reduction rate was used and measured how much stuttering in frequency was reduced during each of the fluency enhancing conditions (i.e, typical choral reading, DAF, FAF) relative to typical solo reading. The results showed that stuttering frequency was reduced in the three fluency enhancing conditions and the highest mean value in stuttering reduction rate was observed during typical choral reading. Some discussion was provided in relation to the stuttering reduction rate observed during typical choral reading and its further speculation.

  • Piezoelectric actuators exhibit limited accuracy in tracking control due to their hysteresis nonlinearity. In this study a digital tracking control approach for a piezoelectric actuator based on incorporating a feedback linearization loop with a PID feedback controller is presented. The hysteresis nonlinearity of the piezoelectric actuator is modeled in the feedback compensation loop using the Maxwell slip model. Experiments were performed on a piezoelectric 2-axis linear positioner for tracking linearly decaying sinusoidal waveforms and circles. The experimental results show that the tracking control performance is noticeably improved by augmenting the feedback loop with a model of hysteresis in the feedback compensation loop.

Reducing Feedback Overhead in Opportunistic Scheduling of Wireless Networks Exploiting Overhearing

  • We propose a scheme to reduce the overhead associated with channel state information (CSI) feedback required for opportunistic scheduling in wireless access networks. We study the case where CSI is partially overheard by mobiles and thus one can suppress transmitting CSI reports for time varying channels of inferior quality. We model the mechanism of feedback suppression as a Bayesian network, and show that the problem of minimizing the average feedback overhead is NP-hard. To deal with hardness of the problem we identify a class of feedback suppression structures which allow efficient computation of the cost. Leveraging such structures we propose an algorithm which not only captures the essence of seemingly complex overhearing relations among mobiles, but also provides a simple estimate of the cost incurred by a suppression structure. Simulation results are provided to demonstrate the improvements offered by the proposed scheme, e.g., a savings of 63-83% depending on the network size.

  • In this paper new, inverter control system for TG feedback a formula Control was developed. The motor control system with TG feedback controller as an effect of load disturbance, it is very difficult to guarantee the robustness of control system.   • Attitude is considered one of the most important influences on behavior and is defined as an enduring positive or negative feeling about some person, object or issues. The teaching strategies for affective domain are needed to develop the positive attiudes about environments. One of them is to faciliate the involvement of emotional feedback. The purpose of this study was to verify the effects of emotional feedback. Cognitional feedback was carried to control group but cognitional and emotional feedback were carried concurrently to experimental group. By the results, post test scores of experimental group were significantly higher than those of control group about four goals of Environmental Education, respectively. Therefore this strategy is effective to achieve goals of affective domain. Also, emotional feedback is important factor to raise the achievement of cognitive domain, too.

  • Patients with hemiplegia usually show different body weight distribution as compared with normal subjects. Asymmetrical posture during static stance has been identified as a common problem in patients with hemiplegia. The purpose of this study was to identify the effects of vision and visual feedback on body weight distribution while standing under three conditions: eyes-closed, eyes-open and visual feedback condition. Fourteen patients with hemiplegia participated in the study. Their body weight distribution during standing for 20 seconds was measured by Limloader. The data were analysed by repeated measure of one-way ANOVA. The weight bearing on the paretic limb in the eyes-open condition was significantly higher than that of the eyes-closed condition. The weight bearing on the parietic limb in the visual feedback condition was significantly higher than that of the eyes-open condition. These results suggest that patients with hemiplegia can improve their symmetrical stance ability using visual feedback.

  • In this papre, a complex fuzzy adaptive decision feedback equalizer using the RLS algorithm is proposed. The proposed equalizer is based on the complex fuzzy adaptive equalizer. The 'IF'-part of the complex fuzzy adaptive decision feedback equalizer has membership functions which are characterized by the sate of decision feedback. The role of decision feedback is to reduce the computational complexity. Computer simulation shows that the proposed equalizer not only reduces the computational complexity but also improves the performance compared with the conventional complex fuzzy adaptive equalizers under the assumption of perfect knowledge of the linear and nonlinear channels. The effects of error propagation due to wrong decision feedback is also shown.

Limited Feedback Designs for Two-Way Relaying Systems with Physical Network Coding

  • This paper considers a limited feedback system for two-way wireless relaying channels with physical network coding (PNC). For full feedback systems, the optimal structure with the PNC has already been studied where a modulo operation is employed. In this case, phase and power of two end node channels are adjusted to maximize the minimum distance. Based on this result, we design new quantization methods for the phase and the power in the limited feedback system. By investigating the minimum distance of the received constellation, we present a code-book design to maximize the worst minimum distance. Especially, for quantization of the power for 16-QAM, a new power quantization scheme is proposed to maximize the performance. Also, utilizing the characteristics of the minimum distance observed in our codebook design, we present a power allocation method which does not require any feedback information. Simulation results confirm that our proposed scheme outperforms conventional systems with reduced complexity.

  • PID controllers with constant gains have been widely used in various control systems due to its powerful performance and easy implementation. But it is difficult to have uniformly good control performance in all operating conditions. In this paper, we propose a nonlinear variable PR controller with immune feedback mechanism. An immune feedback mechanism is based on the functioning of biological T-cells, they include both an active term, which controls response speed. and an inhibitive term, which controls stabilization effect. Therefore, the proposed nonlinear PID controller is based on immune responses of biological. immune feedback mechanism which is the cell mediated immunity and In order to choose the optimal nonlinear PID controller games, we also propose the tuning algorithm of nonlinear function parameter in immune feedback mechanism. To verify performance of the proposed algorithm, the speed control of nonlinear DC motor are performed. Front the simulation results, we have found that the proposed algorithm is more superior to the conventional constant fain PID controller.
