  • In the global economy, Korean foreign direct investment (FDI) to Southeast Asian countries expands rapidly as the countries try to make attracting investment strategies and to improve their investment condition. This paper, using panel-data for 2004-2006 in Indonesia, Vietnam and Malaya which are the main countries of Korean FDI for last ten years, shows analysis of the Korean FDI performance in Southeast Asia and compares the Korean firms' achievement with the case of China. According to the forty nine firms' official sources in Indonesia, Vietnam and Malaya, presented to the Export-Import Bank of Korea, over fifty percent of FDI consists of M&A. And Korean FDI has concentrated in the manufacturing industry. In order to measure the FDI performance, the study sets a regression function; operating profit ratio is the dependent variable and the total sales, expert ratio and investment period are the independent variables representing firms' volume, purpose of FDI and firms' adaptation to the local countries.

  • Logistic costs refer to trade costs, but it could influence FDI as well as global trade. Multinational corporations choose the geographic organization to produce their products. Therefore, it involves many countries to produce one product. International trade between countries more frequently involves the trade of raw materials, components, and unfinished goods. This implies that countries with better logistic performance are attractive for investment because of low transaction costs. Using the logistic performance index provided from the World Bank, this paper investigates the impacts of logistic performance on FDI inflow to developing countries. Results show that infrastructure and timeliness have a positive effects on FDI inflow to low income countries. In the case of middle income countries, timeliness has a negative effect on FDI inflow. This discrepancy between the low- and middle- income countries comes from the different motivation. FDI for low income countries primarily attempts to minimize labor costs. However, FDI for middle-income countries seems to be motivated to reduce labor costs and expand sales markets. FDI inflow in low-income countries serves as part of the offshoring or global outsourcing of multinational corporation.

  • In this paper, we propose a FDI method, which comes from singular value decomposition of measurement matrix fur redundant sensors. We analyze the performance of the proposed FDI method by comparing with the GLT method in two ways such as FDI performance and GN&C performance. Also, we propose a GN&C performance index by combining FDI and GN&C performance.

  • Purpose: Research on the development of distribution channels and the strategy will help businesses develop competitiveness in the market. At the same time, the excellent effect of distribution channels and the outstanding implementation of business strategies will help optimize firm performance. Therefore, this study helps to evaluate the influence of distribution channels, and strategy factors on the performance of FDI enterprises in Vietnam. Research design, data, and methodology: Research using quantitative method with PLS-SEM model based on 210 samples using Smart-PLS3. software. The survey subjects are corporate managers who understand the strategies, distribution channels, and performance in Vietnamese FDI enterprises. Results: The analysis results show that strategy factors have a positive effect on firm performance, and distribution channel also has a positive impact on firm performance. This result also indicates that distribution channels activity as an intermediary between strategy and firm performance. Conclusion: The study also gives some policy implications on strategy and distribution channels to improve firm performance. The strategic implementation of finance, human resources, risk, innovation, and diversification of distribution channels are implications for improving firm performance in FDI enterprises. In addition, the research has contributed to the relationship between the distribution channels and firm performance.

  • Recently there are sharp increase in number of studies related with facilitation of Inward-FDI or Multinational Enterprises invested in Korea region. The most of studies are mainly purposing to survey - 1)how Korea Government makes counter plan and assistance policy to make foreign capital and Inward-FDI more attractively and aggressively, 2)what is the new framework or system for Inward-FDI policy, 3)what is economic effect of Inward-FDI, 4)what are determinants or conclusive factors of FDI in Korea. Under this situation, the goal of this report is to find out the new way for Multinational Enterprises to reinvest continuously thru getting their better investment performances on several factors including Marketing Competence, Management Ability, Localization Management Skill, Business Management Strategy, and R&D Competitiveness which would be much more important determinants influencing re-investment of Multinational Enterprises in Kora. This report based on the empirical result and comprehensive analysis will eventually help policy makers to implement the appropriate strategy and support Multinational Enterprises to proceed positive circle's re-investment activity in the end.

  • This study examined the relationship between determinant factors of FDI and management performance, and tested moderating effects by competitive strategy. Questionnaires were gathered from 113 respondents, but only 92 valid copies were analyzed through SPSS WIN 18.0. The major empirical results are as follows: In hypothesis 1, Firm-Special Advantage impacted on Management Performance strongly, Internal Advantage impacted on Management Performance strongly, and Locational Advantage impacted on Management Performance strongly. In Hypothesis 2, the moderating effects by competitive strategy on the relationship between determinant factors of FDI and management performance were tested through multiple regression. The result of the moderating effects by competitive strategy were found to be insignificant. Implications of the finding as well as the limitations of this study are also discussed.

  • The configuration of redundant inertial sensors are very important when considering navigation performance and fault detection and isolation (FDI) performance. By constructing a redundant sensor system using multiple inertial sensors, it is possible to improve the navigation performance and fault detection and isolation performance, which are highly related to the sensor configuration and allocation. In order to deploy multiple MEMS inertial measurement units effectively, a configuration and allocation methods considering navigation performance, fault detection and isolation performance, and lever arm effect in one plane are presented, and the performance is analyzed through simulation in this research. From the results, it is confirmed that the proposed configuration and allocation method can improve navigation, FDI, and lever arm effect rejection performances more effectively by more than 70%.

  • Inertial sensors are important components of navigation system whose performance and reliability can be improved by specific sensor arrangement configuration. For the reliability of the system, Fault Detection and Isolation (FDI) is conducted by comparing each signal of arranged sensors and many arrangement configuration were suggested to optimize FDI performance of the system. In this paper, multiple conic configuration is suggested with optimal navigation condition and its FDI performance is analyzed by established Figure Of Merit (FOM) under the condition for navigation optimality. From FOM comparison, the multiple conic configuration is superior to former one in point of FDI.

  • This study investigates the factors barrier the performance of Korean manufacturing firms in China. Also an empirical data use the field survey of Korean manufacturing firms in China. as a result, First, we find that employment-cost factor, that is rising labor costs, a change of occupation is an effect the performance of Korean manufacturing firms in China. Second, business beginning year and by 7 region factor is very significant on the performance of Korean FDI firms in china. And then, Korean corporate investment in China is a desirable form of long-term investment shall be determined. also we know that regions of China, differentiated investment approach is effective. finally, The result shows that FDI to China is need of the long term plan, and In actual use, these FDI should be applied flexibly in china business environment.

  • An improved principal component analysis (PCA) method is applied for sensor fault detection and isolation (FDI) in a nuclear power plant (NPP) in this paper. Data pre-processing and false alarm reducing methods are combined with general PCA method to improve the model performance in practice. In data pre-processing, singular points and random fluctuations in the original data are eliminated with various techniques respectively. In fault detecting, a statistics-based method is proposed to reduce the false alarms of $T^2$ and Q statistics. Finally, the effects of the proposed data pre-processing and false alarm reducing techniques are evaluated with sensor measurements from a real NPP. They are proved to be greatly beneficial to the improvement on the reliability and stability of PCA model. Meanwhile various sensor faults are imposed to normal measurements to test the FDI ability of the PCA model. Simulation results show that the proposed PCA model presents favorable performance on the FDI of sensors no matter with major or small failures.
