  • Boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT) stands at the forefront of cancer treatment, offering a pioneering approach to enhance the rate of recovery for patients who show noncompliance to conventional therapies. The 18F labeling of BNCT tracers signifies a groundbreaking leap in molecular imaging. Hence, the aim of this brief review is to outline the radiofluorination strategies utilized for BNCT tracers. Radiofluorination of L-BPA, a ligand of L-type amino acids, can be carried out via electrophilic as well as nucleophilic substitution reactions. It's solubility can be elevated by complexing it with fructose to form BPA-fructose complex, followed by radiolabeling with 18F. In addition to electrophilic and nucleophilic radiofluorination, we have briefly presented the radiofluoro exchange method, which is applicable for amino acids having trifluoroborate groups, i.e., FBY (fluoroboronotyrosine), featuring both imaging and therapeutic functionalities. Furthermore, this review offers an inclusive array of radiofluorination strategies employed for other BNCT tracers, including o-carborane and fenbufen boronopinacol.

  • The stochiometric mix of evaporating materials for the CuInSe$_2$ single crystal thin films was prepared from horizontal furnace. To obtain the single crystal thin films, CuInSe$_2$ mixed crystal was deposited on thoroughly etched semi-insulating GaAs(100) substrate by the Hot Wall Epitaxy(HWE) system. The source and substrate temperature were 62$0^{\circ}C$ and 41$0^{\circ}C$, respectively. The crystalline structure of single crystal thin films was investigated by the photoluminescence and double crystal X-ray diffraction (DCXD). The carrier density and mobility of CuInSe$_2$ single crystal thin films measured from Hall effect fby van der Pauw method are 9.62x10$^{16}$ cm$^{-3}$ , 296$\textrm{cm}^2$/V.s at 293 K, respectively. From the photocurrent spectrum by illumination of perpendicular light on the c-axis of the CuInSe$_2$ single crystal thin film we have found that he values of spin orbit splitting ΔSo and the crystal field splitting ΔCr were 6.1 meV and 175.2 meV at 10K, respectively. From the photoluminescence measurement on CuInSe$_2$ single crystal thin film we observed free excition (Ex) existing only high quality crystal and neutral bound exiciton (D$^{\circ}$,X) having very strong peak intensity. Then, the full-width-at-half-maximum(FWHM) and binding energy of neutral donor bound excition were 7meV and 5.9meV, respectivity. by Haynes rule, an activation energy of impurity was 50 meV.

  • Ischemia followed by reperfusion in the presence of polymorphonuclear leukocytes (PMNs) results in a marked cardiac contractile dysfunction. Amrinone, a specific inhibitor of phosphodiesterase 3, has an antioxidant activity against PMNs. Therefore, we hypothesized that amrinone could attenuate PMNs-Induced cardiac dysfunction by suppression of reactive oxygen species (ROS) produced fby PMNs. In the present study, we examined the effects of amrinone on isolated ischemic (20 min) and reperfused (45 min) rat hearts perfused with PMNs. Amrinone at $25\;{\mu}M$, given to hearts during the first 5 min of reperfusion, significantly improved coronary flow, left ventricular developed pressure (P<0.001), and the maximal rate of development of left ventricular developed pressure (P<0.001), compared with ischemic/reperfused hearts perfused with PMNs in the absence of amrinone. In addition, amrinone significantly reduced myeloperoxidase activity by 50.8%, indicating decreased PMNs infiltration (p< 0.001). Superoxide radical and hydrogen peroxide production were also significantly reduced in fMLP- and PMA-stimulated PMNs pretreated with amrinone. Hydroxyl radical was scavenged by amrinone. fMLP-induced elevation of $[Ca^{2+}]_i$ was also inhibited by amrinone. These results provide evidence that amrinone can significantly attenuate PMN-induced cardiac contractile dysfunction in the ischemic/reperfused rat heart via attenuation of PMNs infiltration into the myocardium and suppression of ROS release by PMNs.

  • Porous ceramic supports with immobilized microorganisms for the water purifier were synthesized by firing green compacts of mixed powder comprising of fly ash, bentonite and an additive of yeast powder at 800∼1,000$^{\circ}C$ for 1h and the pore and mechanical properties of specimens were investigated. The compressive strength was increased in FB (Fly Ash + Bentonite) specimens while pore properties was decreased with increasing the bentonite content and sintering temperature. The compressive strength, bulk density, apparent density, porosity, mean pore size, pore volume and specific surface area of FB specimens at 800∼1,000$^{\circ}C$ were 89.6∼128.9 kgf/$cm^2$, 1.25∼1.43, 1.61∼1.78, 27.2∼62.2%, 7.9∼25.6 ${\mu}m$, 8.9∼$22.2{\times}10^{-5}\;cm^3/g$ and 35.2∼134.3 $m^2/g$, respectively. The pore properties of FBY (FB+yeast powder) specimens were superior to that of FB specimens, however compressive strength was decreased with increasing yeast powder content. The overall properties of 9F1B1Y (9F1B+10% of yeast powder) specimens at 900$^{\circ}C$ for 1 h were 98.7 kgf/$cm^2$, 1.20, 1.67, 68.1%, 48.9 ${\mu}m$, $29.5{\times}10^{-5}\;cm^3/g$ and 152.2 $m^2/g$, respectively. In this study, it was revealed that 9F1B1Y specimen demonstrated better S. saprophyticus adherence properties n their surface pores. Consequently, the microorganisms immobilized on porous ceramic supports showed better water purifying performance with many pores and adequate strength.
