  • Optimum hypering conditions are found for IIIa-J, IIIa-F, 103a-O, 103a-D, and IIa-O plates using hypersensitization machine in KAO. For every experimental plate we get speed gain, fog increment, signal to noise ratio and relative DQE according to hypering time and temperature. The hypersensitization method is baking with 8% hydrogen mixed gas. For IIIa-J, 103a-O, and 103a-D plates treated $65^{\circ}C$, 3 hours baking, the speed gains arc increased by about 10 times, 2 times, and 2 times compared to untreated plates, respectively. The fogs are increased by 0.08, 0.10, and 0.08, respectively. For IIIa-F, IIa-O plates treated $65^{\circ}C$, 2 hours baking, the speed gains are increased by about 4.7 times and 1.8 times compared to untreated plates, respectively. The fogs are increased by 0.15 and 0.04, respectively.

  • As a preliminary experiment to establish the process on the sexing of mouse embryos by chromosomal analysis, present studies were carried out with inbred (ICR, C57BL) and F1 hybrid [(ICR${\times}$C57BL) = F1 ${\times}$ ICR] mice to investigate the blastomere numbers and mitotic indices (M.I.) to the developmental stage of embryos recovered, the optimum periods of anti-mitotic agent administration, the successful rates of sexing and sex-ratio. The results obtained were summarized as follows: 1. The blastomere numbers (mean${\pm}$S.E.) of the morula and blastocyst were 18${\pm}$0.4 and 54${\pm}$0.7, respectively. 2. Whereas the M.I. of F1 hybrid (16${\pm}$0.2%) was higher than that fo inbred ICR (15${\pm}$0.1%) and C57BL (12${\pm}$0.6%) in the different strains, the morula (7${\pm}$0.6%) was higher than that of blastocyst (6${\pm}$0.4%) in the case of embryo stages. 3. Following to anti-mitotic agents treated, the M.I. of embryos cultured with Colcemid (17${\pm}$1.1%) was superior to that fo embryos cultured with Velban (12${\pm}$0.9%) and the Colcemid injection (7${\pm}$0.4%). 4. The successful rate of sexing in the blastocyst (38.7%; 124/320) was superior to the morula (35.9%; 52/145), and the F1 hybrid (48.1%) was higher than that of inbred ICR (42.4%) and C57 BL (28.2%). 5. In the successful rate of sexing to the methods of administration, the embryos cultured with Colcemid (46.0%) was superior to that of embryos cultured with Velban (39.0%) and the Colcemid injection (38.8%). 6. Of 98 embryos sexed after culture with Colcemid, 89(90.8%) were observed between 2 and 4 hrs. In the case of Velban treatment, 83.1% (74/89) was observed between 2$\frac{1}{2}$ and 4$\frac{1}{2}$ hrs. 7. Out of 761 prepared embryos it was possible to sex 311; 157 were male and 154 were female, i.e.a sex-ratio of 50% a, pp.oximately.

  • In this paper, natural frequency curves are presented for three specific end supports considering distinct values of nonlocal parameter. The vibrational behavior of zigzag double walled carbon nanotubes is investigated using wave propagation with nonlocal effect. Frequency spectra of zigzag (12, 0) double walled carbon nanotubes have been analyzed with proposed model. Effects of nonlocal parameters have been fully investigated on the natural frequency against against variation of Poisson's ratio. A slow increase in frequencies against variation of Poisson's ratio also indicates insensitivity of it for suggested nonlocal model. Moreover, decrease in frequencies with increase in nonlocal parameter authenticates the applicability of nonlocal Love shell model. Also the frequency curves for C-F are lower throughout the computation than that of C-C curves.

  • In Citrus, an $F_1$ segregation population of 150 plants was constructed from a cross between 'Kiyomi' (C. unshiu ${\times}$ C. sinensis) carrying the male sterility trait and 'Jinkyool' (C. sunki). Sequence-related amplification polymorphism (SRAP) combined with bulked segregant analysis was used to develop markers linked to male fertility. In the $F_1$ population, 66 out of 150 seedlings had aborted anthers and the ratio of male sterile plants to fertile plants in the progenies matched the expected Mendelian segregation ratio of 1:1 ($x^2$ =2.16 at p=0.05). From the profiling of the 197 SRAP primer sets, three SRAP primer sets (F4/R27, F39/R60, and F15/R37) that were closely linked to the target trait were identified and successfully converted into a sequence characterized amplified region (SCAR) marker for selection of male fertility in citrus. The SCAR marker, using the pMS 33U/pMS 1462L primer set specifically, produced a single 1.4-Kb fragment that was linked to male fertility. Our results suggested that this SCAR marker can be useful for marker-assisted selection of male sterile individuals in breeding $F_1$ progenies in Citrus.

  • One of the most important parameters affecting nonlinearsoil-structure interaction, especially rocking foundation, is the vertical factor of safety (F.Sv). In this research, the effect of F.Sv on the behavior of rocking foundations was experimentally investigated. A set of slow, cyclic, horizontal loading tests was conducted on elastic SDOF structures with different shallow foundations. Vertical bearing capacity tests also were conducted to determine the F.Sv more precisely. Furthermore, 10% silt was mixed with the dry sand at a 5% moisture content to reach the minimum apparent cohesion. The results of the vertical bearing capacity tests showed that the bearing capacity coefficients (Nc and Nγ) were influenced by the scaling effect. The results of horizontal cyclic loading tests showed that the trend of increase in capacity was substantially related to the source of nonlinearity and it varied by changing F.Sv. Stiffness degradation was found to occur in the final cycles of loading. The results indicated that the moment capacity and damping ratio of the system in models with lower F.Sv values depended on soil specifications such cohesiveness or non-cohesiveness and were not just a function of F.Sv.

  • The effects of common variants of CYP1A2 gene (CYP1A2$^*$1C and CYP1A2$^*$1F) on the CYP1A2 activity and inducibility were controversial. The aim of the present study is to investigate the effects of CYP1A2$^*$1C and CYP1A2$^*$1F on the activity of CYP1A2 determined by urinary caffeine metabolite ratio in Koreans. As might be expected, there was large inter-individual variation (16-folds) of CYP1A2 activity ranged from 2.41 to 39.58. The mean CYP1A2 activity of smokers was significantly higher than that of non-smokers. The frequencies of CYP1A2$^*$1C (-3858A) and $^*$1F (-164A) alleles were 0.219 and 0.646, respectively. The effect of CYP1A2$^*$1C on the CYP1A2 activity was not significant. However, the CYP1A2 activity of subjects with AA genotype for CYP1A2$^*$1F allele was significantly lower than that of non-AA genotypes (CC, or CA). Interestingly, the significant effect of CYP1A2$^*$1F allele on CYP1A2 activity was not observed in nonsmokers. Our results suggest that CYP1A2$^*$1F allele rather than CYP1A2$^*$1C allele significantly influences on the inducibility of CYP1A2 in Koreans. Owing to small sample size of our study, further studies should be conducted to reveal the inter-ethnic difference or the gene-environmental interaction.

  • In this paper, a new method based on the Sander theory is developed for SWCNTs to predict the vibrational behavior of length and ratio of thickness-to-radius according to various end conditions. The motion equation for this system is developed using Rayleigh-Ritz's method. The proposed model shows the vibration frequencies of armchair (5, 5), (7, 7), (9, 9), zigzag (12, 0), (14, 0), (19, 0) and chiral (8, 3), (10, 2), (14, 5) under different support conditions namely; SS-SS, C-F, C-C, and C-SS. The solutions of frequency equations have been given for different boundary condition, which have been given in several graphs. Several parameters of nanotubes with characteristic frequencies are given and vary continuously in length and ratio of thickness-to-radius. It has been illustrated that an enhancing the length of SWCNTs results in decreasing of the frequency range. It was demonstrated by increasing of the height-to-radius ratio of CNTs, the fundamental natural frequency would increase. Moreover, effects of length and ratio of height-to-radius with different boundary conditions have been investigated in detail. It was found that the fundamental frequencies of C-F are always lower than that of other conditions, respectively. In addition, the existence of boundary conditions has a significant impact on the vibration of SWCNTs. To generate the fundamental natural frequencies of SWCNTs, computer software MATLAB engaged. The numerical results are validated with existing open text. Since the percentage of error is negligible, the model has been concluded as valid.
