There has been difficulties in identifying objects by relying on the naked eye in various surveillance systems. There is a growing need for automated surveillance systems to replace soldiers in the field of military surveillance operations. Even though the object detection technology is developing rapidly in the civilian domain, but the research applied to the military is insufficient due to a lack of data and interest. Thus, in this paper, we applied one of deep learning algorithms, Convolutional Neural Network-based binary classification to develop an autonomous identification model of both friend and foe helicopters (AH-64, Mi-17) among the military weapon systems, and evaluated the model performance by considering accuracy, precision, recall and F-measure. As the result, the identification model demonstrates 97.8%, 97.3%, 98.5%, and 97.8 for accuracy, precision, recall and F-measure, respectively. In addition, we analyzed the feature map on convolution layers of the identification model in order to check which area of imagery is highly weighted. In general, rotary shaft of rotating wing, wheels, and air-intake on both of ally and foe helicopters played a major role in the performance of the identification model. This is the first study to attempt to classify images of helicopters among military weapons systems using CNN, and the model proposed in this study shows higher accuracy than the existing classification model for other weapons systems.

The primary responsibility for the oral hygiene of the disabled is usually the parents. Dental care of the disabled is early detection and recovery of lesions and continuous management. For this to be successful it is necessary to use diagnostic tool that can detect the early stages of dental caries which is difficult to detect with the naked eye. It is also important to educate and motivate the caregivers on oral hygiene management. Quantitative Light-induced Fluorescence-Digital (Billuminator, Inspektor Researh Systems BV, Amsterdam, The Netherlands), which provides overall caries inspection and visual information, can be useful for caregiver education. A 3-year-old girl who was hospitalized with Pallister-Killian syndrome, Hypothyroidism visited our clinic with chief complaint of rugged upper incisors. This girl had multiple dental caries and oral hygiene was very poor. Periodic QLF-D images were taken to provide caregiver education and oral hygiene management was improved. A 13-year-old girl with cerebral palsy visited our clinic for regular check up. Using QLF-D, we explained to the parents that there is a need for treatment of dental caries, and education of oral hygiene management was conducted. Improvement of oral hygiene in the disabled can be achieved through caregiver education. QLF-D is a diagnostic device that can detects early caries by irradiating light in the visible ray area to the teeth. It can also detects microleakage of restoration, plaque and calculus without disclosing agent. Clinicians can use the QLF-D to perform a general oral examination for the disabled. Also, QLF-D can be used to store visual information and educate caregivers. The accumulation of information using QLF-D makes it possible to provide feedback on oral care of parents, which is more advantageous for caregivers education.
The sexual incompatibility system was investigated in the new strain Pleurotus ostreatus 'Miso'. Matings among monosporous progeny collected from fruiting bodies revealed that the new oyster mushroom is heterothallic and has a tetrapolar mating system. Single basidiospore isolates that did not have clamp connections were determined to be monokaryotic. Compatible parings of monokaryons were distinguishable macroscopically by the rapid growth and gross morphology to some extent but they were distinguished obviously by the presence of clamp connections from incompatible pairings under microscopic examination. Rarely dikaryotization was unidirectional with clamp connections only at the margin of one side of mating. In tetrapolarity of matings, four kinds of patterns, A1B1, A1B2, A2B1, and A2B2, were decided depending on compatibility tests in a parental strain with a mating factor of A1A2B1B2. The mating tests with the tester strains were performed for the detection of mating types on the rest of selected monokaryons.
A simple 2D gaze tracking method using single camera and Purkinje image is proposed. This method employs single camera with infrared filter to capture one eye and two infrared light sources to make reflection points for estimating corresponding gaze point on the screen from user's eyes. Single camera, infrared light sources and user's head can be slightly moved. Thus, it renders simple and flexible system without using any inconvenient fixed equipments or assuming fixed head. The system also includes a simple and accurate personal calibration procedure. Before using the system, each user only has to stare at two target points for a few seconds so that the system can initiate user's individual factors of estimating algorithm. The proposed system has been developed to work in real-time providing over 10 frames per second with XGA $(1024{\times}768)$ resolution. The test results of nine objects of three subjects show that the system is achieving an average estimation error less than I degree.
Orf virus (ORFV), a member of genus Parapoxvirus (family-Poxviridae), a causative agent of contagious ecthyma in sheep and goat leading to a condition commonly known as vesicular dermatitis. Recently, twelve goats from Iksan in Jeonbuk province were observed with clinical signs like necrotic vesicular lesions around the mucosa of mouth, nasal cavity, eye, ear, teats, abdomen and groin. Based on these clinical symptoms, contagious ecthyma infection was suspected. The skin scrapping was collected from lesions for isolation of DNA and subsequent PCR amplification of ORFV specific 235 bp region of B2L gene. All of the samples were found positive by PCR analysis. Sequencing and further phylogenetic analysis of the PCR product revealed 100% identity to Japan isolate of ORFV (Okinawa, GenBank accession number AB080769), and showed 99.6% of similarity to New Zealand strain (NZ-2, GenBank accession number U06671). It was concluded that ORFV strain detected in the present study is homologous to Japan isolate and New Zealand strain. The PCR test based on amplification of B2L gene is a highly useful tools for rapid and specific diagnosis of contagious ecthyma.

The safety of cosmetics or cosmetic ingredients on human skin is generally evaluated by visual assessment but some early subtle skin changes may not be noticed by the naked eyes. Thus, the present study was conducted to detect skin reactions induced by mildly irritating cosmetic ingredients by using a laser Doppler perfusion imager (LDPI) method that measures blood flow, a $Vapometer^{(R)}$ that measure strans epidermal water loss (TEWL), and a spectrophotometer that measures the skin color as the erythema values ($a^*$). Visual assessment showed that all tested oils and humectants except propylene glycol belong to the low skin irritation ranges (grades 0+ to 2.9+) while all tested surfactants and propylene glycol belong to the moderate-to strong-skin irritation ranges (grades 3+ to 5+). Among three instrumental methods, TEWL assessment appeared to be more sensitive than spectrophotometric or LDPI method and suitable for the detection of subtle skin response invisible to the naked eye (grades 0+ to 2.9+). Skin reactions of grade 3+ to 5+ could be detected by all three instrumental methods. In conclusion, the current study suggested that the sub-clinical skin reactions due to mild irritants contained in cosmetics can be best assessed by TEWL measurements.

The aim of this study was to identify the polymorphism on exostosin-1 (EXT1) gene and to associate with economic traits in Hanwoo (Korean cattle). We sequenced for detection of single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) with 24 unrelated individuals and identified four SNPs (T272196A, C272359T, G290964A and A302092G). Relationship between the genotypes of 583 Hanwoo individuals by PCR-RFLP and economic traits were analyzed by general linear model. In EXT1 gene, there were four SNPs associated with economic traits such as eye muscle area breeding value, marbling score breeding value, backfat and thickness breeding value (p<0.05 to p<0.01). In conclusion, this study indicates an important role of EXT1 gene in determining the meat quality or economic characteristics in Hanwoo.
The aim of this study was to evaluate the association between economic traits of Korean cattle (Hanwoo) and genetic variation in fatty acid binding protein 5 (FABP5) gene within QTL region of carcass weight and marbling score traits on BTA 14. We sequenced for detection of single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) with 24 unrelated Hanwoo samples and identified four SNPs (-1141A>G, 949A>G, 969A>G and 1085C>G). Relationship between the genotypes of 583 Hanwoo individuals by PCR-RFLP and economic traits were analyzed by the mixed regression model implemented in the ASReml program. As the result of statistical analysis, SNP1 (-1141A>G) showed significant effect (p<0.003) on marbling score (MS) and SNP2 (949A>G) showed significant effect (p<0.034) on eye muscle area (EMA). Further studies are required to validate the significant SNPs in a bigger population, but the SNPs (-1141A>G and 949A>G) of FABP5 could be a genetic marker to estimate molecular breeding value (MEBV) for carcass traits in Hanwoo.

In this paper, we propose a new LINF(Linear Independent Non-negative Factorization) algorithm for real-time face recognition systea This system greatly consists of the two parts: 1) face extraction part; 2) face recognition part. In the face extraction Part we applied subtraction image, the detection of eye and mouth region , and normalization method, and then in the face recognition Part we used LINF in extracted face candidate region images. The existing recognition system using only PCA(Principal Component Analysis) showed low recognition rates, and it was hard in the recognition system using only LDA(Linear Discriminants Analysis) to apply LDA directly when the training set is small. To overcome these shortcomings, we reduced dimension as the matrix that had non-negative value to be different from former eigenfaces and then applied LDA to the matrix in the proposed system We have experimented using self-organized DAIJFace database and ORL database offered by AT(')T laboratory in Cambridge, U.K. to evaluate the performance of the proposed system. The experimental results showed that the proposed method outperformed PCA, LDA, ICA(Independent Component Analysis) and PLMA(PCA-based LDA mixture algorithm) method within the framework of recognition accuracy.
