Ocular coherence tomography를 이용한 개의 망막변성증 평가 (Assessment of retinal degeneration with optical coherence tomography in a dog)

  • To report retinal image of in a 6-year-old male castrated poodle dog with a 2-month history of nyctalopia using optical coherence tomography (OCT). Ocular reflexes were present in both eyes and slit lamp examination showed anterior subscapular cataract in the right eye. There were fundus abnormalities in both eyes similar to retinal degeneration. Scotopic electroretinograms (ERGs) revealed significantly subabnormal amplitudes and prolonged implicit time, whereas photopic ERGs were better maintained, although far from normal. OCT of affected dogs revealed generalized retinal thinning much more than a normal age-matched dog. Therefore, OCT scanning is considered to be a useful method for retinal evaluation in dogs with retinal degeneration.

  • This paper proposes a novel indoor positioning system (IPS) that uses a calibrated camera sensor network and dense 3D map information. The proposed IPS information is obtained by generating a bird's-eye image from multiple camera images; thus, our proposed IPS can provide accurate position information when objects (e.g., the mobile robot or pedestrians) are detected from multiple camera views. We evaluate the proposed IPS in a real environment with moving objects in a wireless camera sensor network. The results demonstrate that the proposed IPS can provide accurate position information for moving objects. This can improve the localization performance for mobile robot operation.

  • In this paper, we propose an iris recognition system using Homogeneous Texture descriptor of MPEG-7 standard. The texture of iris is generally used in iris recognition system. We segment the pupil with Hough transform and the boundary of iris with it's gray level difference between the white of the eye. To extract Homogeneous Texture descriptor, this iris image is transformed into polar coordinates. The extracted descriptor is then compared with the reference in DB. If their distance is larger than threshold, they are recognized as different iris. Test results will show that Homogeneous Texture descriptor can be a good measure for iris recognition system.

  • 본 논문에서는 많은 연구가 이루어지고 있는 안면인식 기술에서 2차원에 대한 취약점으로 깊이데이터를 받아 안면인식 기술의 보안성을 높였다. 본 논문은 이에 2차원 안면인식에 대한 취약점인 깊이 굴곡데이터가 없어 사진으로도 보안성을 허무는 단점을 사람들 개별의 습관성을 지닌 눈 깜박임에 대한 데이터를 받아오고 또한, 양 측면 이미지의 추가 데이터를 통하여 깊이데이터를 측정하지 않아도 깊이 데이터에 대한 정보를 받아 깊이카메라를 사용하지 않아도, 안면인식 보안성을 올려 주는 새로운 패턴을 분석하여, 장비를 줄여줌으로써, 원가 절감효과를 기대한다.

로봇 메니퓰레이터의 동력학 시각서보 (Dynamic Visual Servoing of Robot Manipulators)

  • A better tracking performance can be achieved, if visual sensors such as CCD cameras are used in controling a robot manipulator, than when only relative sensors such as encoders are used. However, for precise visual servoing of a robot manipulator, an expensive vision system which has fast sampling rate must be used. Moreover, even if a fast vision system is implemented for visual servoing, one cannot get a reliable performance without use of robust and stable inner joint servo-loop. In this paper, we propose a dynamic control scheme for robot manipulators with eye-in-hand camera configuration, where a dynamic learning controller is designed to improve the tracking performance of robotic system. The proposed control scheme is implemented for tasks of tracking moving objects and shown to be robust to parameter uncertainty, disturbances, low sampling rate, etc.

  • When PCB soldering is performed with microscope due to the electronic components' microminiaturization, workers' awkward upper body postures and difficulties being in focus among lens, object and eyes are one of reasons for productivity decline. The object of this study is to investigate the level of difficulties of work and the extent of productivity improvement by changing work interfaces from the work using microscope to the work using LCD monitor. Independent variables was usage of microscope and image system and dependent variables were upper body segments including neck, shoulder, back, and waist, task convenience and eye fatigue. The Visual Analogue Scale (10cm) was used for questionnaire and one way ANOVA (two levels) and two sample t-test were conducted. In addition, RULA rating was conducted for working postures. The result showed that interface changes of LCD monitor, suggested by productivity comparison per one Man Hour, highly contributed to work convenience and productivity improvement.

  • We implement the foveation and frequency sensitivity feature of human visual system in discrete cosine transform (DCT) domain. Resolution of human visual perception decays as distance from the eye-focused point, known as foveation property, and the middle frequency components give most pleasant image quality to human than the low and high frequency components, which is the frequency sensitivity property of human visual system. For satisfying the foveation property, we enhanced the local contrast at the focused regions and smoothed local contrast at the non-focused regions in the DCT domain without bringing the blocking and ringing artifacts. Moreover, the energies at each DCT frequency components is modified with various degree to fulfill the frequency sensitivity property. The proposed method is verified by the subjective and objective evaluations that it can the improve the human perceptual visual quality.

레이저 프로젝터의 스페클 저감을 위한 광학 소자 설계 및 제작 (Design and Fabrication of Optical Element for Speckle Reduction in Laser Projector)

  • Laser projector has many advantages of high brightness, high resolution and small size, but the huge drawback of image degradation called speckle which generated by coherence of laser and roughness of surface interrupts their general use. There are many methods to reduce speckle pattern, but they need effective optical systems to realize display to the far field with huge volume. We designed speckle reduction element by using microlens with controlled curvature to reduce spatial coherence. Vibration element was also applied to reduce temporal coherence which considered response time of eye. Designed element was fabricated by simple reflow method and imprinting method. From the results, the fabricated element performed 48.33% of speckle reduction efficiency and 41.29% of optical efficiency with a single doublet lens.

홍채인식을 위한 자동 눈 영역 검출 (Autometic Eye Image Detection for Iris Recognition)

  • 현재 홍채 인식은 주로 수동형 영상 획득 시스템을 통한 홍채 획득이 주를 이루고 있다. 이는 장비가 고가인 점과 정확한 홍채 위치추적의 어려움 등의 문제로 인한 것이다. 본 연구에서는 24bit 칼라 영상에서 피부색 정보와 윤곽선 검출 정보를 이용한 실시간 자동 홍채 인식 시스템을 제안하였다. 제안한 방법에서는 HSI 칼라 좌표계상에서의 얼굴 피부색 인식 외에 조명으로 인한 잡음을 제거 하였고, 배경과 사용자의 보다 정확한 영역 분리를 위하여 영상을 이진화한 후 윤곽선 영역을 다시 한 번 제거 한 후 레이블링을 실행 하였다. 또한, 보다 정확한 눈 영역 추출을 위하여 일정 크기까지의 줌을 한 후 윤곽선 검출을 사용하였다. 이러한 방법들을 통하여, 주위 환경에 영향을 덜 받으면서 보다 정확한 눈 영역을 추출 할 수 있었다.

  • Recently, real-time visual tracking control for a robot manipulator is performed by using a vision feedback sensor information. In this paper, the optical flow is computed based on the eye-in-hand robot configuration. The image jacobian is employed to calculate the rotation and translation velocity of a 3D moving object. LQG visual controller generates the real-time visual trajectory. In order to improving the visual tracking performance. VSC controller is employed to control the robot manipulator. Simulation results show a better visual tracking performance than other method.
