Researches on air-ground robot cooperating system has been made recently. The cooperation among homogeneous robots focused on the architecture of the system, quality and influence of the communication. In contrast, the cooperation among heterogeneous robots such as aerial vehicle and ground vehicle robots has not been much handled. There are a couple of main points for those air-ground cooperating robots. One is using UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) as an extra sensor of UGV (Unmanned Ground Vehicle). This kind of application is usually used in situations such as guiding UGV to an appropriate path which could be better determined from the eye in the sky as UAV. The other main application of air-ground cooperating robot system is the localization. By combining sensor information from both UAV and UGV, the robot system as a whole can localize a target object or find features in the environment with better performance than UGV or UAV alone. Although these applications are recently studied in many different ways and devices, there are still a lot of possibilities in the field of air-ground cooperating robot systems. We introduce those research fields in this paper.
This paper presents the system interface standard that are associated with additional devices like sensor nodes as well as fire monitoring panel, panic button and emergency call in city railroad environment. Existing fire monitoring panel, panic button and emergency call system is responsible for fire detection and alarm, emergency alarm and communication with the manager. Recently, researches that are associated with NVR-based intelligent integrated surveillance systems and existing alarm system are activated but most of the system is dedicated to it existing. In order to expand devices that is supported other monitoring function, separate device configuration or modification of integrated surveillance system are inevitable. In this study, interface standard between standard controller, integrated command center and each device that facilitate additional expansion of integrated surveillance system and avoid the extra cost is presented.
In this paper we suggest a novel temperature detection method utilized in direct over-temperature protection circuit modeling. The suggested model detects temperature variation using Rds(on) characteristics of MOSFET, while the conventional methods are using extra devices such as a temperature sensor or an over-temperature detection transistor. The temperature-dependant MOSFET model is implemented using Spice ABM(Spice Analog Behavior Model). The direct over-temperature protection circuit was designed including it. We verified effectiveness of the temperature dependant Rds(on) model characteristics and performance of the direct over-temperature protection circuit on PSpice simulation

In this paper, DC-PLC typed one-wire controller was designed and manufactured especially for In-vehicle safe devices. One-wire by DC-PLC scheme is to be used as a power supply and ground to process the sensor data and to operate the vehicle actuators. To avoid complicate wires, we use the conventional wires without installing extra communication lines. The data collected from the sensors are transmitted to the main controller, processed by programming, and run the actuators corresponding to the commands sending to vehicle control board. The proposed method shows that only One-wire without requiring several wires make In-vehicle control devices simple and reduce the damage due to the loss of the wiring.
A new stroke output control algorithm with a fuzzy logic for an electrohydraulic left ventricular assist device(EH-LVAD) was developed. The EH-LVAD pumps out blood from left atrium actively. Excessive suction of blood may cause fatal damage in left atrium. The LVAD has to provide a maximal stroke output without collapse of left atrium. In this study a new fuzzy algorithm for predicting and detecting suction and doing proper action on LVAD without using an extra pressure sensor but with bellows pressure signal and motor current signal is developed. The performance of the fuzzy control algorithm is demonstrated by the results from mock circulatory experiments.

In this paper, using micro-stereolithography technology, I fabricated a liquid analyzer to measure ion concentration of a solution. Micro-stereolithography is a technology to fabricate 3-dimensional structure by applying laser beam on liquid photo-polymer. This technology makes it possible to do preassemble fabrication without any extra assembling step after the process. So, the liquid analyzer could be fabricated at very low cost with very simple process by micro-stereolithography technology. The liquid analyzer consists of a chamber for containing the solution, a pump using piezoelectric effect of PZT disk, a static mixer and a sensor for measuring ion concentration using Pt electrodes.

We suggest a novel temperature detection method utilized in temperature monitoring system. Suggested method detects temperature variation by using $R_{ds(on)}$ characteristics of MOSFET, while conventional methods are using extra devices such as a temperature sensor or an over-temperature detection transistor. For voltage detection between drain and source, 10 bits resolution ADC is needed. Therefore possible measurement signal range is about ten mV. If detected temperature's voltage exceed protection temperature's voltage then controller generates OT (Over Temperature) signal to stop MOSFET's trigger signal. Whole process of measurement is controlled by software. Experimental results show that the developed temperature monitoring system can provide the suitable temperature monitoring method and difference between detected and data sheet value of the suggested system is about $3\%$.
Amino acids are fundamental nutrients for protein synthesis and cell growth (increase in cell size). Recently, many compelling evidences have shown that the level of amino acids is sensed by extra- or intra-cellular amino acids sensor(s) and regulates protein synthesis/degradation. Mammalian target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1) is placed in a central position in cell growth regulation and dysregulation of mTOR signaling pathway has been implicated in many serious human diseases including cancer, diabetes, and tissue hypertrophy. Although amino acids are the most potent activator of mTORC1, how amino acids activate mTOR signaling pathway is still largely unknown. This is partly because of the diversity of amino acids themselves including structure and metabolism. In this review, current proposed amino acid sensing mechanisms to regulate mTORC1 and the evidences pro/against the proposed models are discussed.
Automatic Vision Inspection (AVI) systems automatically detect defect features and measure their sizes via camera vision. It has been populated because of the accuracy and consistency in terms of QC (Quality Control) of inspection processes. Also, it is important to predict the performance of an AVI to meet customer's specification in advance. AVI are usually suffered from false negative and positives. It can be overcome by providing extra information such as 3D depth information. Stereo vision processing has been popular for depth extraction of the 3D images from 2D images. However, stereo vision methods usually take long time to process. In this paper, retro optical system using reflectors is proposed and experimented to overcome the problem. The optical system extracts the depth without special SW processes. The vision sensor and optical components such as illumination and depth detecting module are integrated as a unit. The depth information can be extracted on real-time basis and utilized and can improve the performance of an AVI system.
As a functional material, shape memory alloy (SMA) has attracted much attention and research effort to explore its unique properties and its applications in the past few decades. Some of its properties, in particular the electrical resistance (ER) based self-sensing property of SMA, have not been fully studied. Electrical resistance of an SMA wire varies during its phase transformation. This variation is an inherent property of the SMA wire, although it is highly nonlinear with hysteresis. The relationship between the displacement and the electrical resistance of an SMA wire is deterministic and repeatable to some degree, therefore enabling the self-sensing ability of the SMA. The potential of this self-sensing ability has not received sufficient exploration so far, and even the previous studies in literature lack generality. This paper concerns the utilization of the self-sensing property of a spring-biased Nickel-Titanium (Nitinol) SMA actuator for two applications: ER feedback position control of an SMA actuator without a position sensor, and estimation of the opening of a SMA actuated valve. The use of the self-sensing property eliminates the need for a position sensor, therefore reducing the cost and size of an SMA actuator assembly. Two experimental apparatuses are fabricated to facilitate the two proposed applications, respectively. Based on open-loop testing results, the curve fitting technique is used to represent the nonlinear relationships between the displacement and the electrical resistance of the two SMA wire actuators. Using the mathematical models of the two SMA actuators, respectively, a proportional plus derivative controller is designed for control of the SMA wire actuator using only electrical resistance feedback. Consequently, the opening of the SMA actuated valve can be estimated without using an extra sensor.
