A Methodological Shift in Building Design through Development of Collaborative Design Platforms

  • This paper introduces two platforms created by the development team at CORE studio, Thornton Tomasetti's global innovation studio. Collaborative platforms change the way that parties communicate and develop projects. Wikipedia is one of many great examples for a platform that supports collaborative development of a product - the world's largest encyclopedia. In the AEC industry, no such platform exists that can be used for collaborative development of a building project, and hence, information exchange between the parties involved, and modeling programs used in a project is slow and opaque. The platforms introduced in this paper allow for much greater transparency at all stages of the building design process, and hence improve the flow of information between parties involved in the process, both firm-internal and external. While traditionally, the use of a large number of different modeling and analysis platforms is hard to manage by a project team; this paper introduces methods that strengthen the design process by using a multitude of programs needed in the different building design phases.

Distribution Channel Performance Measurement: Valid Measures From Customers' Perspective

  • This paper is structured into three main parts and a conclusion. The main section provide definitions of efficiency, effectiveness and performance in terms of the distribution channel, followed by a review of related performance measurement, before discussing difficulties of measurement. According to the theoretical approach, it appears that key theroretical issues are centered around customer service, logistics excellence, time compression, the use of IT, and a move towards integrated logistics. The empirical approach shows that in the past, various financial performance indicators were regarded as relevant management information. However, today, management needs additional performance indicators. Therefore, external assessments of effectiveness must be performed to measure customers' satisfaction with the physical flow of product through the distribution channel network. So, what is needed is to take previous normative and explorative research and progress through a framework by developing valid measures of distribution channel's effectiveness and efficiency, and identifying research methodologies suited to the data collection requirements.

  • The external factors of global flavor market include the world economy, population growth, urbanization, consumer spending, raw material availability, pricing, and regulatory issues. And the internal factors as product pricing and technology development may lie the flavor house's competitiveness and cost considerations. In developing countries, rising preference for packaged food and beverages and increasing personal expenditures will drive demand for flavor market. Increasing consumer demand for natural products, driven in part by health concerns and a desire for transparency in labeling will impact the demand. The increasing demand for salt and sugar reduction will boost demand for flavors to maintain the overall taste. The use of quality and innovative flavors in the beverages and the multifunctional flavors has a positive influence on the global market. The global flavor industry has the presence of several drivers and positive trends, with its future expected to be promising.

스마트기기를 통한 동영상 시청 환경에서 기기 이용 태도에 영향을 미치는 요인 (Factors Affecting Attitude to Use Devices in Watching Video through Smart Devices)

  • 스마트기기의 대중적인 보급은 사람들의 사회활동 전반에 많은 변화를 가져왔다. 특히, 사람들은 동영상 시청 등 여가 생활에 다양한 종류의 스마트기기를 활용하고 있지만, 이러한 기기 이용 태도에 영향을 미치는 외부 요인에 관한 연구는 부족한 상황이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 기술수용모델에 기반하여 동영상 시청 환경 요인(예. 화면 크기 및 동영상 길이)과 개인적 성향 요인(예. 성별 및 엔터테인먼트 욕구)이 지각된 사용 용이성, 지각된 유용성, 이용 태도에 미치는 영향을 살펴보았다. 다른 스마트기기를 사용하는 660명의 이용자를 대상으로 분석한 결과, 스마트기기 화면이 커질수록 이용 태도가 긍정적으로 형성되었지만, 성별에 따라서는 그 차이점이 나타나지 않았다. 동영상의 길이 또한 이용 태도에 영향을 미치지 않았지만, 엔터테인먼트 욕구는 이용 태도에 긍정적으로 유의미한 영향을 미쳤다. 본 연구의 결과를 바탕으로 동영상 시청 환경 요인과 개인적 성향 요인을 고려하여 제품 개발과 영상 콘텐츠 제작을 통합한 최적화된 고객 마케팅 및 경영 전략에 활용할 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.

공공도서관 이용자의 불평행동에 관한 연구 (An Analysis of Complaining Behavior of Public Library Users)

  • 이 연구는 비영리조직이용자 불평행동의 한 예로서 공공도서관 이용자의 불평행동에 대한 포괄적인 연구로 시도된 것이다. 이 연구에서는 불평에 대한 태도와 불평비용, 불평의 성공가능성, 서비스의 중요성, 외적귀인, 충성도 등의 불평행동의 선행요인이 이용중단, 항의, 부정적 구전, 제3자를 통한 불평 등의 각 불평행동 유형에 미치는 영향을 실증적으로 분석하였다. 특히 비영리조직의 특성과 관련하여 선행요인으로 "무료이용지각"이라는 새로운 변수를 검토하였다. 서비스에 불만족한 대구지역 공공도서관의 성인이용자 515명을 대상으로 한 설문조사를 바탕으로 결과를 분석하였다.

How Do Consumers React to Scandals Involving Celebrity Endorsers and Endorsed Brands?

  • Purpose - The use of celebrity endorsers is a strategy long-since used by companies to improve the persuasive impact of their company's advertising. However, much like anyone else, celebrities are flawed human beings, and therefore often find themselves involved in scandals. Companies must consider the potential of scandals when using a celebrity endorser to represent their brand or product. This research focuses on the process consumers use to justify scandals involving celebrity endorsers. Specifically, this research divides the justification processes used by consumers to maintain support for celebrities involved in a scandal into moral decoupling and moral rationalization and proposes antecedents and consequences for these processes. Methodology - To verify the hypotheses suggested by this study, an online survey was conducted, and data was analyzed using a structural equation model. Result - Results showed that consumer empathy for the celebrity endorser and external attribution of the scandal presented were positively related to moral decoupling and moral rationalization. In addition, moral rationalization was positively related to consumers' attitude towards the celebrity endorser, which also enhanced brand attitude. However, the relationship between moral decoupling and the consumer's attitude toward the celebrity endorser was not statistically significant. Conclusion - This research serves to expand the scope of available research on the persuasiveness of celebrity endorsers and provides practical guidelines for marketers.

Direct Microwave Sintering of Poorly Coupled Ceramics in Electrochemical Devices

  • The use of microwaves as the energy source for synthesis and sintering of ceramics offers substantial advantages compared to conventional gas-fired and electric resistance furnaces. Benefits include much shorter processing times and reaching the sintering temperature more quickly, resulting in superior final product quality. Most oxide ceramics poorly interact with microwave irradiation at low temperatures; thus, a more complex setup including a susceptor is needed, which makes the whole process very complicated. This investigation pursued a new approach, which enabled us to use microwave irradiation directly in poorly coupled oxides. In many solid-state electrochemical devices, the support is either metal or can be reduced to metal. Metal powders in the support can act as an internal susceptor and heat the entire cell. Then sufficient interaction of microwave irradiation and ceramic material can occur as the sample temperature increases. This microwave heating and exothermic reaction of oxidation of the support can sinter the ceramic very efficiently without any external susceptor. In this study, yttria stabilized zirconia (YSZ) and a Ni-YSZ cermet support were used as an example. The cermet was used as the support, and a YSZ electrolyte was coated and sintered directly using microwave irradiation without the use of any susceptor. The results were compared to a similar cell prepared using a conventional electric furnace. The leakage test and full cell power measurement results revealed a fully leak-free electrolyte. Scanning electron microscopy and density measurements show that microwave sintered samples have lower open porosity in the electrode support than conventional heat treatment. This technique offers an efficient way to directly use microwave irradiation to sinter thin film ceramics without a susceptor.

디지털 포렌식 기법을 통한 기업 정보유출에 대한 취약점 탐지 효율성에 관한 연구 (A Research on the Effectiveness of the Vulnerability Detection Against Leakage of Proprietary Information Using Digital Forensic Methods)

  • ICT(정보통신기술) 융합보안 환경에서 수많은 기업들이 회사 내에서 생산되는 중요 자료인 제품정보, 제조기술, 서비스 매뉴얼, 마케팅 자료, 홍보자료, 기술적 자료들을 외부공개 및 공유를 위해 웹 시스템을 운영하고 있다. 이렇게 인터넷에 공개된 웹 시스템은 사이버 보안 관리에 매우 큰 영향을 주고 있고, 상시 취약점을 가지고 있어서 정보보호 솔루션과 IT 취약점 점검을 수행하고 있지만, 외부 환경에서의 취약점 탐지 관리에는 한계가 있다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 문제점을 개선하고자, 디지털 포렌식 기반의 시스템을 자체 구축하고 포렌식 기법을 활용하여 기업의 중요정보 유출 탐지에 대한 실증 연구를 수행하였다. 그 결과, 국내와 해외에서 운영하는 웹 시스템의 취약점으로 인하여 기업의 비밀자료 등 중요 정보가 노출된 것을 확인할 수 있었고 보안관리 개선 사항도 확인할 수 있었다. 결론적으로 최근 증가하는 해킹사고 대응으로 디지털 포렌식 기법을 적용한 시스템을 구축한다면 정보보안 취약 영역의 보안관리 강화와 사이버보안 관리체계 개선을 가져올 수 있을 것이다.

등산 활동 참여동기와 위험지각 수준에 따른 위험감소행동 연구 (Study on Risk Reduction Behavior According to Participation Motivation of Mountain Climbing Activity and Level of Risk Perception)

  • This study investigates risk reduction behavior with risk perception in outdoor wear purchase situations. Data were collected via a questionnaire from 400 consumers between the ages of 20 to 50 residing in Seoul and Kyonggi-do. Data analysis were conducted with SPSS 20 program on the reliability test, factor analysis, cluster analysis, t-test, ANOVA, and Duncan's multiple range test. Factor analyses were employed for the participation motivation of mountain climbing activities, risk reduction behavior and risk perception. Five factors were for the participation motivation of mountain climbing activities (health and fitness, external ostentation, achievement and excitement, improvement of climbing skills, and society). Five factors were for risk perception (fashionability loss and social risk, time and convenience loss, economic risk, performance risk, and psychological risk). Five factors were for the risk reduction behavior (interpersonal information sources use, marketer-dominated information sources use, professional information sources use, pre-purchase deliberation/observation/experience, and brand dependence). Three clusters were identified based on the motivation of outdoor activities (the affiliation/display, the health/internal informativeness and low motivation). The participation motivation for mountain climbing activities were varied. Manufacturers should increase efforts to develop products with good qualities at a reasonable cost as well as establish new marketing strategies since the risk of product performance and economic efficiency in the purchase of outdoor wear was a significant consumer perception.

Therefore, it is expected that it will contribute greatly to prevent related disasters if introducing necessary measures to prevent repeated related disasters and installing additional safety devices. In order to eliminate the risk factor according to the operation of the gondola, it is necessary for the operator to use it to use it while the examination of each product is completed, and to use the over load Dangerous arbitrary measures such as arbitrary operation of the prevention device, removal of the safety fence for convenience of work, installation of the wire rope installed in the air, falling out of the wire rope and falling to the ground Do not perform such sealing measures so that any operation of the overload prevention device can not be done so as not to take such arbitrary measures, or wire the power supply wire to the safety fence so as not to delete the safety fence.
