The "Potato Gun," a simple heat engine, is fabricated, tested and analyzed as a part of engineering education program of combustion and propulsion classes. Combustor pressure is predicted by the chemical equilibrium analysis of a constant volume combustor. Then, the internal ballistics, the conversion of thermal energy into the mechanical energy of a projectile, is predicted though the expansion process. The trajectory of a projectile is estimated by considering the aerodynamic effect around the spherical projectile. The energy conversion efficiency and the equivalence ratio of the fuel-air mixture could be estimated by the comparison of the experimental results and the theoretical prediction. The present work would be an example of attracting the interest of students for the application of the engineering principles at undergraduate level by recycling the waste materials.

The penicillin amidase from Escherichia coli (ATCC 9637) was immobilized by entrappment in gelatin and DEAE-cellulose mixture cross-linked with glutaraldehyde, and the kinetics in a differential column reactor was studied. The optimal operating condition of a differential reactor was reasonably met when the enzyme loading was 1g, and 30 mM substrate solution in 0.1 M phosphate buffer (pH 8.0) was fed at flow rate 4$m\ell$/min and 4$0^{\circ}C$. The optimal pH and temperature were found to be 8.0 and 55$^{\circ}C$, respectively. The Michaelis-Menten constant was 4.8 mM while the maximum velocity was 308 units/g of the immobilized enzyme under the condition of the differential reactor. The effect of substrate inhibition disappeared in the immobilized enzyme preparation. The differential reactor was proved to be good for studying the true kinetics since the pH drop and the external diffusional resistance could be eliminated.
Background Liposuction is a procedure to reduce the volume of subcutaneous fat by physical force. Intracellular storage fat is composed of triglyceride, whereas circulating fat particles exist as cholesterol or triglycerol bound to carrier proteins. It is unavoidable that the storage form of fat particles enters the circulation system after these particles are physiologically destroyed. To date, however, no studies have clarified the fatal characteristics of fat embolism that occurs after the subclinical phase of free fat particles. Methods A mixture of human lipoaspirate and normal saline (1:100, 0.2 mL) was injected into the external jugular vein of rats, weighing 200 g on average. Biopsy specimens of the lung and kidney were examined at 12-hour intervals until postoperative 72 hours. The deposit location and transport of the injected free fat particles were confirmed histologically by an Oil Red O stain. Results Inconsistent with previous reports, free fat particles were transported from the intravascular space to the parenchyma. At 24 hours after infusion, free fat particles deposited in the vascular lumen were confirmed on the Oil Red O stain. At 72 hours after infusion, free fat particles were accumulated compactly within the parenchymal space near the perivascular area. Conclusions Many surgeons are aware of the fatal results and undiscovered pathophysiologic mechanisms of free fat particles. Our results indicate that free fat particles, the storage form of fat that has been degraded through a physiological process, might be removed through a direct transport mechanism and phagocytotic uptake.
This study was performed to enhance mechanical properties of high-early-strength concrete using regulated-set cement for early traffic opening with various mixtures. Restraint of moisture and thermal movements of concrete pavement in actual field conditions, by external or internal restraining factors, generates tensile stresses which introduce microcracks and thus reduce the mechanical properties of concrete. Fiber reinforcement of concrete is an effective approch to the control of microcrack and crack development under tensile stresses. Three different types of regulated-set cement which recently have been used in Korea and two different types of fiber were adopted. Fibers were added and their mixtures are compared with plain high-early-strength concrete mixture. From the test results, fiber reinforced concrete was increased mechanical properties of high-early-strength concrete using regulated-set cement than the plain concrete.

In SiH4/H2 discharge for growth process of hydrogenated amorphous silicon (a-Si:H), silane polymers, produced by SiH2 + Sin-1H2n ${\rightarrow}$ SinH2n+2, have no reactivity on the film-growing surface. However, under the SiH2 rich condition, high silane reactive species (HSRS) can be produced by electron collision to silane polymers. HSRS, having relatively strong reactivity on the surface, can react with dangling bond and form Si-H2 networks which have a close correlation with photo-induced degradation of a-Si:H thin film solar cell [1]. To find contributions of suggested several external plasma conditions (pressure, frequency and ratio of mixture gas) [2,3] to suppressing productions of HSRS, some plasma characteristics are studied by numerical methods. For this study, a zero-dimensional global model for SiH4/H2 discharge and a one-dimensional particle-in-cell Monte-Carlo-collision model (PIC-MCC) for pure SiH4 discharge have been developed. Densities of important reactive species of SiH4/H2 discharge are observed by means of the global model, dealing 30 species and 136 reactions, and electron energy probability functions (EEPFs) of pure SiH4 discharge are obtained from the PIC-MCC model, containing 5 charged species and 15 reactions. Using global model, SiH2/SiH3 values were calculated when pressure and driving frequency vary from 0.1 Torr to 10 Torr, from 13.56 MHz to 60 MHz respectively and when the portion of hydrogen changes. Due to the limitation of global model, frequency effects can be explained by PIC-MCC model. Through PIC-MCC model for pure SiH4, EEPFs are obtained in the specific range responsible for forming SiH2 and SiH3: from 8.75 eV to 9.47 eV [4]. Through densities of reactive species and EEPFs, polymerization reactions and production of HSRS are discussed.
This papers describes on the experimental consideration for the intrinsically-safe explosion-proof capability of rechargeable battery's body about main item rechargeable battery and cellular phone battery which is selling in domestic that IEC(International Electrotechnical Commission) recommend the measurement of ignition limit by short circuit of rechargeable battery and temperature increase test to use a explosion grade Group IIC type of explosion-proof type apparatus test an object of hydrogen gas. Because of that there are many different results for existence or nonexistence for ignition by different company and different types. It is concluded that the maximum of self temperature increasing by spark circuit of rechargeable battery is $180^{\circ}C$ in case of Nickel-Hydrogen and $110^{\circ}C$ in case of Nickel-Cadmium. The reaction of cellular battery for external temperature have following processes. It is confirmed that the temperature of reaction is rise slantly as the ambient temperature rising, then exterior shape of one is swell up and change when the temperature of ambient reach to about $130\~140^{\circ}C$, and when reach to about $160^{\circ}C$ the battery is blown up. Therefore, it is considered that have to be in considering selection of rechargeable battery using in itself due to different ignition limits of various rechargeable battery when the portable electric containing rechargeable battery are designed, produced and used, the characteristics and the proper safety factors of devices.

Objectives: Recently lactic acid formulation was known as the adjuvant therapy on atopic dermatitis(AD) symptoms because of little side effects. In this study, it was studied that Lactobacillus mixed culture appliment was effective on not on AD symptoms. Methods: The case-photos 30-40 times of AD symptoms from case were observed with literatures. The case-photos were acquired with environmental AD dermatitis experience program which is conducted in SUNCHANG RESERCH INSTITUTE OF HEALTH AND LONGEVITY from 2014.01 to 2014.08. Experience applicants were limited the oral administration and chemical external administration. Results: Lactobacillus mixed culture appliment was effective because of the mitigation or disappearance of AD primary symptoms like pruritus, erythema, edema, effusion, dry skin, scaly, scab etc. AD symptom degree was dependent on lactobacillus mixed culture appliment times, and classified as Reaction Period (RAP), Reduction Period (RDP), Efection Period (EP), Reproduction Period (RPP) on a single mixed culture appliment time. And AD symptoms which were appeared in RPP were classified as Rebound Period (RBP), Effection Period (EP), Subclinical Period (SCP). Conclusions: Lactobacillus mixed culture appliment is considered to be useful for AD symptoms and is estimated to be effective by different mechanism with oral administration or steroid ointment application. Lactobacillus mixed culture appliment is expected to induce a synergistic effects on AD symptom reliefs with the other oral administration.

The purpose of this study was to collect basic data that could be used in the manufacture of two kinds of canned oyster Crassostrea gigas. The steamed oyster was prepared by shucking after boiling for 6 min at $105^{\circ}C$ and then washing and dewatering. The roasted oyster was prepared by baking steamed oyster at $140^{\circ}C$ for 20 min. The manufacturing methods of canned seasoned boiled oyster and canned seasoned roasted oyster were as follows. The boiled or roasted oyster (50 g) was added to a can (RR-90) along with a mixture of seasoning sauce 40 and then seamed using a vacuum seamer under 20 cm Hg after pre-exhausting at $90^{\circ}C$ for 20 min. The two kinds of canned oyster products produced under sterilization of Fo 12 min were tested for cultured bacteria, external appearance, proximate composition, pH, VBN (Volatile basic nitrogen), TBA (Thiobarbiuric aicd) value, amino-N, salinity, color value sensory evaluation, etc. Results showed that the canned seasoned roasted oyster had higher overall acceptability than the canned seasoned boiled oyster. The reason for this was judged to be that the process of roasting at $140^{\circ}C$ for 20 min influenced the sensory evaluation.
In this study, the solubilities of a pharmaceutical compound, nifedipine, in three mixed solvents were determined. In addition, the nifedipine, that was dissolved in solvents (acetone, DMF, methylene chloride), was recrystallized using antisolvents (water, hexane, carbon dioxide) The external shape, size, and melting point of the crystallized nifedipine were measured. As the mixed solvents, acetone+water, DMF+water, and methylene chloride+hexane were used, and the solubility of nifedipine decreased with increasing antisolvent concentrations in the mixtures. In case of acetone+water, the solubility maximum was observed due to the density anomaly of the mixture, and this phenomenon was not observed in other systems. The crystallized nifedipine particles exhibited the bladed, equant, and prismatic habits, and the particles size was significantly reduced compared to the raw material. The average particle size of raw nifedipine was 337 ㎛, and the size of crystallized particles was in the range of 11.6~69.8 ㎛. All the crystallized nifedipine particles had the same thermal behavior and this result was not influenced by the change of solvent and antisolvent.
Objectives : The aim of this study was to investigative the effects of Gagambojungikgi-tang (GBT), a Korean herbal medicine, on the immune mediators, T cell proliferation and wound healing in the recombinant Sj26 (rSj26) antigen induced atopic dermatitis(AD) model mice. Methods : GBT is the water extracts prepared from mixture of Ginseng Radix, Astragali Radix, Angelicae gigantis Radix, Atractylodes Rhizoma alba, Aurantii nobilis Pericarpium, Glycyrrhizae Radix, Artemisia iwayomogi Herba, Scutellaria Radix, Lonicera japonica Flos. This is a modified prescription of Bojungikgi-tang, which has been used for the treatment of indigestion, and immunological disease in east-asian countries. GBT was orally administered or externally applied at difference doses. The levels of immune mediators [(IgE, IgG1, prostaglandin E2 (PGE2), Th1/Th2 cytokines], T cell proliferation, and wound healing in the rSj26 or chemical antigen induced AD model BALB/c were investigated. Results : GBT dose-dependently suppressed the release of TNF-${\alpha}$, IL-$1{\beta}$ (Th1 cytokines), IL-4, IL-10 (Th2 cytokines), PGE2 (inflammatory mediators) and T cell proliferation. But GBT increased the production of IFN-${\gamma}$ (Th1 cytokine). Furthermore, A wound healing effect of GBT was similar to external application of dexamethasone. Conclusions : These results suggest that GBT suppresses the inflammatory mediators and regulates the Thl/Th2 cytokines, and promotes the wound healing. Therefore, these properties may contribute to the strong anti-AD effect of GBT.
