Pilot-scale modified SBR 공정에서 외부탄소원의 종류에 따른 탈질효율 비교 연구 (A Study on Denitrification Efficiency with External Carbon Sources in Pilot-scale Modified SBR)

  • Pilot-scale PSSBR(Phase Separated Sequencing Batch Reactor) was operated to evaluate requirement of external carbon sources(${\Delta}gCOD/{\Delta}gNO_3^{-}-N$) in denitrification. Methanol and fermented food waste were used as external carbon sources. Methanol and fermented food waste were fed to the anoxic state of first reactor and concentration were 50 and 40 mgCOD/L on the basis of concentration in reactor, respectively. In case that external carbon source was not used, average $NO_3^{-}-N$ concentration in effluent was 22.49 mg/L. When methanol and fermented food waste were fed, average $NO_3^{-}-N$ concentration in effluent were 10.13 mg/L and 6.3 mg/L, respectively and requirement of external carbon sources were 4.04 and 2.5 ${\Delta}gCOD/{\Delta}gNO_3^{-}-N$, respectively. Fermented food waste was better than methanol in denitrification efficiency. Therefore fermented food waste could be one of the excellent external carbon sources for nitrogen removal in biological nutrient removal process.

Endochronic simulation for the response of 1020 carbon steel tubes under symmetric and unsymmetric cyclic bending with or without external pressure

  • This paper presents the theoretical simulation of the response of 1020 carbon steel tubes subjected to symmetric and unsymmetric cyclic bending with or without external pressure by using the endochronic theory. Experimental data of 1020 carbon steel tubes tested by Corona and Kyriakides (1991) were used for evaluating the theoretical simulation. Several cases were considered in this study, they were symmetric bending without external pressure, symmetric bending with external pressure, unsymmetric bending without external pressure, and unsymmetric bending with external pressure. The responses of the moment-curvature, ovalization-curvature and ovalization-number of cycles with or without external pressure were discussed. It has been shown that the theoretical simulations of the responses correlate well with the experimental data.

유기폐자원을 이용한 고도하수처리 대체탄소원 개발 및 실플랜트 적용 (Development of Alternative External Carbon Source from Wasting Carbonaceous Organic Resource and Full Scale Application)

  • The purpose of this research was evaluated economical effect to apply alternative external carbon source. Conventional activated sludge process in municipal wastewater treatment plant was adapted and introduced to Biological nutrient removal processes to meet the newly enforced effluent quality standard for nutrient removal in Korea. Low $COD/NH_4^+-N$ ratio and higher nutrient concentration of influent characteristics force to inject external carbon source for denitrifying recycled nitrate. In the most case, methanol was used as external carbon source. But Methanol is expensive and very dangerous in handling. So we could find cheaper and safer external carbon source substituted methanol in last study. This alternative external carbon source is named RCS(recoverd carbon source) and a by-product of fine chemical product at chemical plant. When RCS was applied real municipal wastewater treatment plant, average $55\~65\%$ of T-N removal efficiency, 8.8mg/l of effluent T-N concentration, 11.3mg/l of effleunt COD concentration were obtained without effluent COD increase as against used methanol. To apply RCS in municipal wastewater treatment plant obtain approximately $\74.5%$ expenditure cost reduction in comparison with methanol dosage cost.

생물학적 질소 제거공정에서 ORP 측정을 통한 외부탄소원의 자동 주입 제어 (Automatic Addition Control of the External Carbon Source by the Measurement of ORP in Biological Nitrogen Removal Process)

  • For the cost-effective biological nitrogen removal (BNR) process whose characteristics of influent have low COD/N ratios, the automatic control system for the addition of external carbon based on oxidation-reduction potential (ORP) data in an anoxic reactor has been developed. In this study, it was carried out with a pilot-scale Bardenpho process which was consisted of anoxic 1, aerobic 1, aerobic 2, anoxic 2, aerobic 3 tank and clarifier. Firstly, the correlation coefficient ($R^2$) of the dosage of external carbon source and ORP value was about 0.97. Consequently, the automatic control system using ORP showed that the dosage of external carbon source was decreased by about 20% compared with a stable dosage of 75 mg/L based on the COD/N ratio of the anoxic influent.

Characterizations of Denitrifying Polyphosphate-accumulating Bacterium Paracoccus sp. Strain YKP-9

  • A denitrifying polyphosphate-accumulating bacterium (YKP-9) was isolated from activated sludge of a 5-stage biological nutrient removal process with step feed system. This organism was a Gram-negative, coccus-shaped, facultative aerobic chemoorganotroph. It had a respiratory type of metabolism with oxygen, nitrate, and nitrite as terminal electron acceptors. The 16S rRNA gene sequence of strain YKP-9 was most similar to the 16S rRNA gene sequence of Paracoccus sp. OL18 (AY312056) (similarity level, 97%). Denitrifying polyphosphate accumulation by strain YKP-9 was examined under anaerobic-anoxic and anaerobic-oxic batch conditions. It was able to use external carbon sources for polyhydroxyalkanoates(PHA) synthesis and to release phosphate under anaerobic condition. It accumulated polyphosphate and grew a little on energy provided by external carbon sources under anoxic condition, but did neither accumulate polyphosphate nor grow in the absence of external carbon sources under anoxic condition. Cells with intracellular PHA cannot accumulate polyphosphate in the absence of external carbon sources under anoxic condition. Under oxic condition, it grew but could not accumulate polyphosphate with external carbon sources. Based on the results from this study, strain YKP-9 is a new-type denitrifying polyphosphate-accumulating bacterium that accumulates polyphosphate only under anoxic condition, with nitrate and nitrite as the electron acceptors in the presence of external carbon sources.

혼합 산업폐수의 질소제거를 위한 외부 탄소원 투입과 물질수지: 실증실험 (Nitrogen Removal from a mixed Industrial Wastewater using Food-Waste Leachate and Sugar Liquid Waste as External Carbon Sources: Full-Scale Experiment)

  • The feasibility of enhancing biological nutrient removal from an industrial wastewater was tested with food waste leachate and sugar liquid waste as external carbon sources. Long term influences of adding external carbon sources were investigated to see how the biological nutrient removal process worked in terms of the removal efficiency. The addition of the external carbons led to a significant improvement in the removal efficiency of nutrients: from 49% to approximately 76% for nitrogen and from 64% to around 80% for phosphorus. Approximately, 20% of the removal nitrogen was synthesized into biomass, while the remaining 80% was denitrified. Though the addition of external carbon sources improved nutrient removal, it also increased the waste sludge production substantially. The optimal observed BOD/TN ratio, based on nitrogen removal and sludge production, was around 4.0 in this study.

  • We investigated field-effect ion-transport devices based on carbon nanotubes by using classical molecular dynamics simulations under applied external force fields, and we present model schematics that car be applied to the nanoscale data storage devices and unipolar ionic field-effect transistors. As the applied external force field is increased, potassium ions rapidly flow through the nanochannel. Under low external force fields, ther nal fluctuations of the nanochannels affect tunneling of the potassium ions whereas the effects of thermal fluctuations are negligible under high external force fields. Since the electric current conductivity increases when potassium ions are inserted into fullerenes or carbon nanotubes, the field effect due to the gate, which can modify the position of the potassium ions, changes the tunneling current between the drain and the source.

확장형칼만필터에 의한 연속회분식반응조의 탈질 적응제어 (Adaptive Control of Denitrification by the Extended Kalman Filter in a Sequencing Batch Reactor)

  • The reaction rate of denitrification is primarily affected by the utilization of organics that are usually limited in the anoxic period in a sequencing batch reactor. It is necessary to add an extemal carbon source for sufficient denitrification. An adaptive model of state-space based on the extended Kalman filter is applied to manipulate the dosage rate of extemal carbon automatically. Control strategies for denitrification have been studied to improve control performance through simulations. The normal control strategy of the constant set-point results in the overdosage of external carbon and deterioration of water quality. To prevent the overdosage of external carbon, improved control strategies such as the constrained control action, variable set-point, and variable set-point after dissolved oxygen depletion are required. More stable control is obtained through the application of the variable set-point after dissolved oxygen depletion. The converging value of the estimated denitrification coefficient reflects conditions in the reactor.

대체 외부탄소원으로서의 TPA 생산부산물 특성 및 현장적용성 평가 (Assessment of Characteristics and Field Applicability with TPA By-Product as Alternative External Carbon Source)

  • B시 S하수처리장에서 화학침전 공정에서 MLE 공정으로 공법을 변경하였으며, 생물학적으로 탈질시 부족한 탄소원을 보충하기 위해 외부탄소원이 요구되었다. 본 연구에서는 약 4.7%의 아세트산을 포함하는 TPA(Terephthalic Acid) 생산부산물의 대체탄소원으로 적용 가능성을 평가하기 위해 NUR(Nitrate Uptake Rate) 및 OUR(Oxygen Uptake Rate) 실험과 현장 적용실험을 수행하였다. 실험 결과 TPA 생산 부산물은 일반 상용 외부탄소원으로 널리 쓰이는 메탄올보다 빠른 순응특성을 나타내었고 비탈질율이 $8.24mg{NO_3}^--N/gVSS/hr$, 단위 질산성 질소 제거당 COD 소모비는 $3.70COD_{Cr}/g\;NO_3$, RBDCOD 함량 99.4%로 나타났다. S하수처리장에 대한 TPA 생산부산물 현장 적용 실험을 통해 안정적인 영양염류 제거효율을 나타내었으며 방류수 T-N 농도가 8.2 mg/L로 생물학적 탈질에 요구되는 탄소원을 보충할 수 있는 대체탄소원으로 적합하다고 판단되었다.

유동여재 $A_2O$공정에서 외부탄소원으로 메탄올을 이용한 낮은 C/N비 하수의 생물학적 질소제거 특성 (Characteristics of Biological Nitrogen Removal for Low C/N Ratio Municipal Wastewater Using Methanol as an External Carbon Source in $A_2O$ Fluidized Media Process)

  • 실험은 C/N 비가 낮은 실제하수 유입시 적용한 유동여재 $A_2O$시스템의 생물학적 탈질특성을 파악하고 외부 탄소원(메탄올) 주입량(C/N비) 변화에 따른 오염물질 제거특성, 각 반응조의 유기물, 질소 거동 특성을 검토하였다. 실험장치는 실험실 규모로 호기조에 유동여재를 투입하여 부유와 부착 미생물이 공존하는 혼합형 형태이다. 유동여재는 $10{\sim}20mm$정도의 육면체로 된 스폰지 형태의 폴리우레탄 재질이다. 실험에서 얻어진 결과는 다음과 같다. 외부탄소원을 주입하지 않는 하수처리의 경우, 부유성 미생물양이 부착성 미생물양 보다 약 3배 가량 많았다(총 미생물량 80 g). 무산소조에 주입되는 외부탄소원에 의해 성장되는 미생물은 우선적으로 호기조 접촉여재에 일정량 부착된 후에 부유성 상태 미생물로 유지되었다. 유출수 $COD_{Cr}$ 농도는 외부탄소원 주입여부에 관계없이 $13{\sim}29mg/L$으로 안정하게 유지되었다. 유출수의 총무기성 질소(TIN)농도의 경우, 미주입시에는 $20.0{\sim}35.9mg/L$(제거효율 18%)이었으나 주입시에는 $2.5{\sim}9.0mg/L$(제거효율 $71{\sim}83%$)로 염분의 영향은 없었다. 각 반응조의 유기물($COD_{Cr}$) 제거특성은 외부탄소원 미주입시에는 대부분이 혐기조에서 제거되었으며, 외부탄소원 주입시에 대부분이 무산소조에서 제거되었다. 과잉주입의 경우 대부분이 호기조에서 제거되었다. 총 무기성 질소(TIN)의 경우, 외부탄소원 미주입시 대부분이 혐기조에서 제거되었으며, 외부탄소원 주입시 불안정한 상태에서는 혐기조에서, 안정한 상태에서는 무산소조에서 대부분 제거되었다.
