This paper presents an actual microstructure-based numerical method to investigate the mechanical properties of concrete at mesoscopic level. Digital image processing technique is used to capture the concrete surface image and generate the actual 3-phase microstructure of the concrete, which consists of aggregate, matrix and interfacial transition zones. The microstructure so generated is then transformed into a mesh or grid for numerical analysis. A finite difference code FLAC2D is used for the numerical analysis to simulate the mechanical responses and failure patterns of the concrete. Several cases of concrete with different degrees of material heterogeneity and under different compression loading conditions have been analysed. From the numerical results, the effects of the internal material heterogeneities as well as the external confining stresses are studied. It is shown that the material heterogeneities arising from the presence of different phases and the existence of interfacial transition zones have great influence on the overall mechanical behaviour of concrete and that the numerically simulated behaviour of concrete with or without confining stresses applied agrees quite well with the general observations reported in the literature.
This study was perfomed to investigate the differentiation of rabbit blastocysts microinjected with testosterone solution. A total of 140 mixed breed does was superovulated, synchronized and hand mated. The eggs were flushed from uterine horns between 65 and 89 hrs after mating. Testosterone was dissolved in 95% ethanol and diluted with PBS at the ratio of 1: 99. Final concentration of testosterone was adjusted to 1 pg /ml. 6~8 bias-tocysts were microinjected with 1~10 p Q of the diluted testosterone solution, and tranfer-red into the uterine horns of the synchronized recipients. When 140 donor does were treat-ed with a single does of 200 IU PMSG in combination with 100 IU RCG 48 hrs apart, 134 of them(97%) showed standing estrus. Ovarian responses of 117 does were examined following mating and the rate of ovulation was 11.23 i 1.20. Ova were recovered from donors between 65 and 89 hrs after mating. Recovery rates of ova were 37.5% and 42.2% of recovered ova were blastocysts. A total of 106 blastsocysts were microinjected with testosterone solution and transferred into the uterine horns of 15 synchronized recipient does. One of the recipients was pregnant and delivered 7 baby rabbits. The external genitalia of the young rabbits appered to be the same appearance as the buck entierly.

A piezoelectric flextentional sonar transducer has been simulated using a coupled FE-BEM. The dynamics of the sonar transducer is modelled in three dimensions and is analyzed with external electrical excitation conditions. Different results are available such as steady-state displacement modes, underwater directivity patterns, resonant frequencies, bandwidths, quality factors, output acoustic powers and transmitting voltage responses. It is shown that the present barrel-stave sonar transducer of the piezoelectric material produces flextentional displacements which could be related with higher output power, lower quality factor and more omnidirectional beam pattern than other types of sonar transducers. The results of the present sonar transducer modelling are also compared with those of a commercial package such as ATILA.
This paper presents the details of indigenous development of the piezovibrocone and calibration chamber. The developed cone has a cylindrical friction sleeve of $150cm^2$ surface area, capped with a $60^{\circ}$ apex angle conical tip of $15cm^2$ cross sectional area. It has a hydraulic shaker, coupled to the cone penetrometer with a linear displacement unit. The hydraulic shaker can produce cyclic load in different types of wave forms (sine, Hover sine, triangular, rectangular and external wave) at a range of frequency 1-10 Hz with maximum amplitude of 10 cm. The piezovibrocone can be driven at the standard rate of 2 cm/sec using a loading unit of 10 ton capacity. The calibration chamber is of size $2m{\times}2m{\times}2m$. The sides of the chamber and the top as well as the bottom portions are rigid. It has a provision to apply confining pressure (to a maximum value of $4kg/cm^2$) through the flexible rubber membrane inlined with the side walls of the calibration chamber. The preliminary static as well as dynamic cone penetration tests have been done sand in the calibration chamber. From the experimental results, an attempt has been made to classify the soil based on friction ratio ($f_R$) and the cone tip resistance ($q_c$).
The contact problem for an elastic layer resting on an elastic half plane is considered according to the theory of elasticity with integral transformation technique. External loads P and Q are transmitted to the layer by means of two dissimilar rigid flat punches. Widths of punches are different and the thickness of the layer is h. All surfaces are frictionless and it is assumed that the layer is subjected to uniform vertical body force due to effect of gravity. The contact along the interface between elastic layer and half plane will be continuous, if the value of load factor, ${\lambda}$, is less than a critical value, ${\lambda}_{cr}$. However, if tensile tractions are not allowed on the interface, for ${\lambda}$ > ${\lambda}_{cr}$ the layer separates from the interface along a certain finite region. First the continuous contact problem is reduced to singular integral equations and solved numerically using appropriate Gauss-Chebyshev integration formulas. Initial separation loads, ${\lambda}_{cr}$, initial separation points, $x_{cr}$, are determined. Also the required distance between the punches to avoid any separation between the punches and the layer is studied and the limit distance between punches that ends interaction of punches, is investigated. Then discontinuous contact problem is formulated in terms of singular integral equations. The numerical results for initial and end points of the separation region, displacements of the region and the contact stress distribution along the interface between elastic layer and half plane is determined for various dimensionless quantities.

The co-evaporated cathodes composed of A1 and CsF is adopted to enhance the electrical and the optical properties of organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs). The hole transport layer (HTL), made of 50nm thick N,N-dipheny1-N,N-bis(3-methylphenyl)-1,1-bipheny14,4-diamine (TPD), and the electron transport layer (ETL), made of 50nm thick tris(8-hydroxy-quinoline) aluminum (A1q$_3$), were deposited under the base pressure of 1.6$\times$10$^{-6}$ Torr. In depositing A1-CsF, the mass ratio of CsF is varied between 1 and 10wt%. OLEDs with co-evaporated cathodes have luminance of about 35,000cd/$m^2$, and external quantum efficiency of about 1.38%. Cs tends to diffuse into the organic layer and then re-forms Cs$^{+}$cation and free electron with the Cs-doped surface region.n.
In the recent years, UHF PD measuring technique for detecting partial discharges was proved the effective method for Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS). However, in case of GIS with a metal flange around insulating spacer, UHF PD measurement using typical external UHF PD sensor is difficult. In this paper, a novel hole-type UHF PD sensor based on Archimedean spiral antenna theory has been proposed and realized. All spacers with metal flange have small hole in order to inject epoxy. Using the novel hole-type UHF PD sensor, it makes detection possible to PD signal that are emitted through the epoxy injection hole. Additionally, the measuring characteristic of UHF PD signals from several artificial defects in GIS and the novel ${\Phi}$-f-q pattern analysis technology are discussed.
The mass loss rate and heat release rate of puzzle mats were analysed using variable external irradiation level. Five samples of puzzle mat were tested in this study : Type A, B, C, D and E. Type A, B and C are all general grades whereas Type D and E are both Flame retardant grades. Incident heat fluxs of $25kW/m^2$, $35kW/m^2$, $50kW/m^2$ and $70kW/m^2$ were selected for these experiments. All samples were tested in the horizontal orientation and were wrapped in a single layer of aluminum foil. Each sample was nominally 20mm thick and 100mm square. The combustion heat and mass loss rate were carried out from Oxygen bomb calorimeter and mass loss calorimeter according to ISO 5660-1 respectively. Heat release rates were calculated using the equation ${\dot{Q}}=A_f{\dot{m}}"_X{\Delta}H_c=0.75A_f{\dot{m}}"{\Delta}H_c$. where $A_f$ is the horizontal burning area of the sample, $\dot{m}"$ is mass loss rate per unit area, ${\Delta}H_c$ is complete heat of combustion and 0.75 is combustion efficiency.

The mobile station shall convolutionally encode the data transmitted on the reverse traffic channel and the access channel prior to interleaving. Code symbols output from the convolutional encoder are repeated before being interleaved except the 9600 bps data rate. All the symbols are then interleaved, 64-ary orthogonal modulation, direct-sequence spreading, quadrature spreading, baseband filtering and QPSK transmission. The sync, paging, and forward traffic channel except the pilot channel in the forward CDMA channel are convolutionally encoded, block interleaved, spread with Walsh function at a fixed chip rate of 1.2288 Mcps to provide orthogonal channelization among all code channels. Following the spreading operation, the I and Q impulses are applied to respective baseband filters. After that, these impulses shall be transmitted by QPSK. Authentication in the CDMA system is the process for confirming the identity of the mobile station by exchanging information between a mobile station and the base station. The authentication scheme is to generate a 18-bit hash code from the 152-bit message length appended with 24-bit or 40-bit padding. Several techniques are proposed for the authentication data computation in this paper. To protect sensitive subscriber information, it shall be required enciphering ceratin fields of selected traffic channel signaling messages. The message encryption can be accomplished in two ways, i.e., external encryption and internal encryption.

In response to diverse external stimuli, sensory receptors generate spiking nerve signals. These generated signals are transmitted to the brain along the neural pathway to advance to the stage of recognition or perception, and then they reach the area of discrimination or judgment for remembering, assessing, and processing incoming information. We review research trends in neuromorphic sensory perception technology inspired by biological sensory perception functions. Among the various senses, we consider sensory nerve decoding technology based on sensory nerve pathways focusing on touch and smell, neuromorphic synapse elements that mimic biological neurons and synapses, and neuromorphic processors. Neuromorphic sensory devices, neuromorphic synapses, and artificial sensory memory devices that integrate storage components are being actively studied. However, various problems remain to be solved, such as learning methods to implement cognitive functions beyond simple detection. Considering applications such as virtual reality, medical welfare, neuroscience, and cranial nerve interfaces, neuromorphic sensory recognition technology is expected to be actively developed based on new technologies, including combinatorial neurocognitive cell technology.
