This paper proposes a study on the effects of motion errors for acceleration/ deceleration types. The proposed motion errors are consisted of two errors : one due to transient response of servomechanism and the other due to gain mismatching of positioning servo motor. They are derived from using laplace transformation for the block diagram of general purpose feed drive system. In order to minimize them, the paper proposes second order polynomial regression model by using orthogonal array method which describes one of experimental methodolgies. The validity and reliability of the study was veri lied on a vertical machining center equipped with FANUC 0MC through a series of experiments and analyses.

In this note, a systematic general design of a new robust nonlinear variable structure controller based on state dependent nonlinear form is presented for the control of uncertain affine nonlinear systems with mismatched uncertainties and mismatched disturbance. After an affine uncertain nonlinear system is represented in the form of state dependent nonlinear system, a systematic design of a new robust nonlinear variable structure controller is presented. To be linear in the closed loop resultant dynamics, the nonlinear integral-type sliding surface is applied. A corresponding control input is proposed to satisfy the closed loop exponential stability and the existence condition of the sliding mode on the nonlinear integral-type sliding surface, which will be investigated in Theorem 1. Through a design example and simulation studies, the usefulness of the proposed controller is verified.

This paper deals with the forecasting model for traffic accident. Its objective is to develop the appropriate model to project the accident of Chung-Chong Region. Two types of models between motorization (M) and personal hazard (P) are tested : One is inverted-U (bell type) curve and the other is increasing (or decreasing) curve. The statiscal and sensitivity analyses show that exponential model (type III) and multiplicative model (type II) are well fit to the given cross-sectional and time-series accident data. The model projects that the fatality per 100, 000 persons of Chung-Chong region, when the motorization level (M) is 0.2, would be in the range between 18 and 77 persons. The paper concludes that the accident level is the function of motorization and the result of implementing the safety policy of a region.

Let S_n = [S(i, j)]_1≤i,j≤n and S^*_n = [S(i + j, j)]_1≤i,j≤n where S(i, j) is the Stirling number of the second kind. Choi and Jo [On the determinants of the square-type Stirling matrix and Bell matrix, Int. J. Math. Math. Sci. 2021] obtained the diagonal entries of matrix U in the LU-factorization of S^*_n for calculating the determinant of S^*_n, where L = S_n. In this paper, we compute the all entries of U in the LU-factorization of matrix S^*_n. This implies the identities related to Stirling numbers of both kinds.

Sequential estimation of parameters in a compound Poisson process whose jump sizes are one-parameter exponential class random variables is discussed. Cramer-Rao type information inequality is used as an efficiency cirterion. Unbiased estimators for certain parametric functions whose variance attain the lower bound are all characterized with the corresponding sampling plans.

In this paper, we study the superstability problem bounded by two-variables of Th. M. Rassias type for the generalized sine functional equations $$g(x+y)f(x-y)=f(x)^2-f(y)^2 \\ f(x+y)g(x-y)=f(x)^2-f(y)^2 \\ g(x+y)g(x-y)=f(x)^2-f(y)^2$$, which does not use his iteration method.

In this paper, we consider optimum plan to determine stress change times under the three-step stress PALTs, assuming that each test units follows an exponential distribution. The tampered random variable(TRV) model for the three-step stress PALTs setup are introduced, and maximum likelihood estimators(MLEs) of the failure rate and the acceleration factors are obtained. The change times to minimize the generalized asymptotic variance(GAVR) of MLEs of the failure rate and the acceleration factors are proposed for the three-step stress PALTs.

We fabricate a bottom gate a-Si:H TFT on N-Type <100> Si wafer. According to the variation of gate and drain voltage, the hysteresis characteristic curves were measured experimentally. Also, we showed that the model predict the hysteresis characteristic successfully. Drain current on the hysteresis characteristic currie showed an exponential variation. Hysteresis area of TFT increased with the drain voltage increase and decreases with the drain voltage decrease.

The problem considered is the buckling of a rectangular orthotropic plate, tapered in thickness in a direction parallel to two sides and compressed in that direction. Curves are presented showing the variation of buckling stress coefficient with the special loads. The type of thickness variation is exponential. While this paper is presented how to design for an efficient orthotropic plate taper from physical consideration.
