Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) logging has become an important technique for formation evaluation, detecting interaction signals between H protons and applied magnetic fields. Measured decay signals called relaxation, contain important information about density of H protons and different decay rate due to its fluid type in the sensitive area. Thus, petrophysical information such as porosity, permeability and wettability can be estimated through the interpretation of the decay signals. Many researches on random walk simulation have been published, since a simulation method based on random walk for solving exponential decays was adapted in the early of 1950. This study first makes a review on NMR simulation researches, explains two most important methods: simulation with or without considering magnetic field gradient. Lastly, the study makes a comparison between NMR simulation responses with and without magnetic field gradient to show the importance to consider magnetic gradient to analyze the effects of magnetic gradients on NMR responses.

In general, TDMA and FDMA have been used for multiple access communication methods. Recently. However, ALOHA and CSMA protocols came to exist as new schemes for VSAT data networks and LANs, respectively. These schemes are proven to be effective for packet switched communication systems that has bursty traffic but packet collisions. In this paper we analyze capture statistics arising from fading channels in packet radio communication systems in the context of ALOHA protocol. We derive general results of the exact form of capture probabilities and present numerical data for wide range of fading parameters. Since the capture probabilities are found to approach zero when the number of transmitted signals become larger, we are able to determine the achievable channel throughput by a least squares fitting of an exponential-type function to the probabilities.
The present study has been conducted to investigate the reaction kinetics and pyrolysis parameters for flame propagation analysis of furniture material components. TGA measurement for component materials such as MDF (medium density fiberboad) panel including coating material, synthetic leather and foam cushion are performed under maximum temperature of $600^{\circ}C$ and heating rate of $10^{\circ}C/min$. The results of TGA have shown that the peak temperature of MDF panel was $324^{\circ}C$ and the initial peak temperature of coating material decreased by $270{\sim}280^{\circ}C$. In the case of synthetic leather and foam materials, the reference temperature and reference rate depend on the type of polymer consisting the sample, the initial kinetic characteristics was classified into 2 categories of about $270^{\circ}C$ and $420^{\circ}C$ of reference temperature for the tested synthetic materials. The present study showed the pyrolysis parameters of reference temperature and reference rate proposed by Lyon to evaluate the pre-exponential factor and activation energy. The present study can contribute to improve the reliability of computational fire analysis and enhance the understanding of fire propagation phenomena based on the thermal properties study of material.
Protoporphyrin IX is an intermediate molecule in the heme biosynthetic pathway. Intra- and extracellular concentrations of protoporphyrin IX in the wild type strain, Myxococcus xanthus DK1622 were measured by reverse phase HPLC. The amount of intracellular protoporphyrin IX continuously increased and reached 6.4 picomoles/mg of protein at the stationary phase. Extracellular protoporphyrin IX began to be detected from the mid-exponential phase. The culture supernatant that was collected in the stationary phase contained approximately 3.0 picomoles of proto-porphyrin IX per mg of protein. Spores formed by nutrient depletion contained about 6.5 picomole protoporphyrin IX/mg of protein. The synthesis of protoporphyrin IX and cell growth were strongly inhibited by addition of succinylacetone to a final concentration of $500\muM$. Succinylacetone, however did not appear to interfere developmental processes. Normal developmental behaviors including aggregation and spore formation was achieved even if succinylacetone was added in a medium. Photolysis among cells grown on a starvation medium supplemented with succinylacetone was also observed. These results indicate that protoporphyrin IX may be important to M. ,xanthus vegetative growth, but not critical to development processes.

When analyzing the scatting problem of multi-layered planar structures using closed-form Green's function, one of the main difficulties is that the numerical integrations for the evaluation of diagonal matrix elements converge slowly and are not so stable. Accordingly, even when the integration fur the singularity of type $e^{-jkr}/{\gamma}$, corresponding to the source dipole itself, is performed using such a method, this difficulty persists in the integration corresponding to the finite number of complex images. In order to resolve this difficulty, a new technique based upon the Gaussian quadrature in polar coordinates for the evaluation of the two-dimensional generalized exponential integral is presented. Stability of the algorithm and convergence is discussed. Performance is demonstrated for the example of a microstrip patch antenna.

The relationship between the observable noise model and the satellite elevation angle can be modeled quite well by an exponential function.[Jin, 1996] Noise size and dependence on the elevation angle are, however, different for each observation and receiver type. Therefore, the coefficient determination of this model is an issue, and various methods including PR-CP, single difference, and time difference have been suggested. The limitations of them are difficulty to model the carrier phase noise and to eliminate bias. To overcome these disadvantages for using Jin's model, we suggest zero baseline double difference (DD) and noise sorting algorithm. Data DD technique in zero baseline is useful to eliminate all the troublesome GPS biases, and the remaining error is the sum of GPS measurement noises from two satellites. These DD residuals for hours should be sorted by the combination of satellite elevation angles, and then variance value of the residual for each combination can be estimated. Using these values, we construct an over-determined linear equation whose solution is a set of noise variance for each satellite elevation angle. With 24hr Trimble 4000ssi data, we easily worked out the coefficients of the noise model not only for pseudorange but also for carrier phase. We estimated the standard deviation of the measurement DD using our model, and plotted 1 and 3 sigma lines for every epoch to verify the representation of the residual error. 63.3% of pseudorange residual and 65.9% of phase error did not exceed the 1 sigma lines. Additionally, 99.2% and 99.5% of them lied within 3sigma line. These figures prove that the Gaussian property of measurement noise, and that the suggested model by our algorithm corresponds to the observable noise information.

This paper presents a synthesis method for multi-level Reed-Muller circuits using BDDs(Binary Decision Diagrams). The existing synthesis tool for Reed circuits, FACTOR, is not appropriate to the synthesis of large circuits because it uses matrix (map-type) to represent given logic functions, resulting in the exponential time and space in number of imput to the circuits. For solving this problems, a syntheisis method based on BDD is presented. Using BDDs, logic functions are represented compactly. Therefor storage spaces and computing time for synthesizing logic functions were greatly decreased, and this technique can be easily applied to large circuits. Using BDD representations, the proposed method extract best patterns to minimize multi-level Reed Muller circuits with good performance in area optimization and testability. Experimental results using the proposed method show better performance than those using previous methods〔2〕. For large circuits of considering the best input partition, synthesis results have been improved.
We study existence of polynomial integrating factors and solutions F(x, y)=c of first order nonlinear differential equations. We characterize the homogeneous case, and give algorithms for finding existence of and a basis for polynomial solutions of linear difference and differential equations and rational solutions or linear differential equations with polynomial coefficients. We relate singularities to nature of the solution. Solution of differential equations in closed form to some degree might be called more an art than a science: The investigator can try a number of methods and for a number of classes of equations these methods always work. In particular integrating factors are tricky to find. An analogous but simpler situation exists for integrating inclosed form, where for instance there exists a criterion for when an exponential integral can be found in closed form. In this paper we make a beginning in several directions on these problems, for 2 variable ordinary differential equations. The case of exact differentials reduces immediately to quadrature. The next step is perhaps that of a polynomial integrating factor, our main study. Here we are able to provide necessary conditions based on related homogeneous equations which probably suffice to decide existence in most cases. As part of our investigations we provide complete algorithms for existence of and finding a basis for polynomial solutions of linear differential and difference equations with polynomial coefficients, also rational solutions for such differential equations. Our goal would be a method for decidability of whether any differential equation Mdx+Mdy=0 with polynomial M, N has algebraic solutions(or an undecidability proof). We reduce the question of all solutions algebraic to singularities but have not yet found a definite procedure to find their type. We begin with general results on the set of all polynomial solutions and integrating factors. Consider a differential equation Mdx+Ndy where M, N are nonreal polynomials in x, y with no common factor. When does there exist an integrating factor u which is (i) polynomial (ii) rational? In case (i) the solution F(x, y)=c will be a polynomial. We assume all functions here are complex analytic polynomial in some open set.
The modified TOPMODEL of two storage systems has been integrated to the generalized assumptions of decreasing hydraulic conductivity to vertical direction. Three different recharge functions were introduced to explore the impact of the macropore flow to vortical direction, the storage at the surface zone and the relative storage deficit of the soil matrix. Combinations of these approaches provide 30 type of the model structure for the hillslope hydrology. Developed models have been applied to several hydrologic events at the Sulmachun watershed. The performance evaluation with the Monte carlo simulation suggests that the exponential function of transmissivity reduction should be appropriate form for the physically -based hydrologic simulation on the Sulmachun watershed. It has been shown that the recharge function of macropore flow contributes to improve the predictability of the generalized version of modified TOPMODEL.
The 5′-region of Potato virus X (PVX) RNA, which contains an AC-rich, single-stranded region and stem-loop structure 1 (SL1), affects RNA replication and assembly. Using Systemic Evolution of Ligands by EXponential enrichment (SELEX) and the electrophoretic mobility shift assay, we demonstrate that SL1 interacts specifically with tobacco protoplast protein extracts (S100). The 36 nucleotides that correspond to the top region of SL1, which comprises stem C, loop C, stem D, and the tetra loop (TL), were randomized and bound to the S100. Remarkably, the wild-type (wt) sequence was selected in the second round, and the number of wt sequences increased as selection proceeded. All of the selected clones from the fifth round contained the wt sequence. Secondary structure predictions (mFOLD) of the recovered sequences revealed relatively stable stem-loop structures that resembled SL1, although the nucleotide sequences therein were different. Moreover, many of the clones selected in the fourth round conserved the TL and C-C mismatch, which suggests the importance of these elements in host protein binding. The SELEX clone that closely resembled the wt SL1 structure with the TL and C-C mismatch was able to replicate and cause systemic symptoms in plants, while most of the other winners replicated poorly only on inoculated leaves. The RNA replication level on protoplasts was also similarly affected. Taken together, these results indicate that the SL1 of PVX interacts with host protein(s) that play important roles related to virus replication.
