Alliance formation has been recognized as an important strategy for firms who seek to survive through acquisition of sustainable competitive advantages. Specifically in high-tech industries, firms may consider formation of strategic alliances in order to access valuable external knowledge. These firms tend to be situated in a dilemma that they should choose between exploration and exploitation, which are two types of strategic choices suggested by March (1991). Working out the dilemma has been extensively discussed in the area of strategy or organization learning. Recently, however, an increasing number of studies have stressed on a balance between exploration and exploitation. Regarded as 'ambidextrous organizations' (Lavie and Rosenkopf, 2006), these firms that simultaneously pursue exploration and exploitation have emerged in high-tech industries, and many studies have provided evidence of positive association between organizational ambidexterity and firm performance. In the strategic alliance research, accordingly, scholars began to pay attention to the balanced choice between exploration-and exploitation-oriented alliances. Given these backgrounds, this study examines the relationship between alliance ambidexterity and firm performance. While previous research approached alliance ambidexterity mainly from the number of alliances, our study suggests ambidexterity in terms of alliance portfolio and alliance partner. Our dataset consists of biotechnology or pharmaceutical firms in the United States, which spans time period between 1990 and 2005. We conduct panel data analysis. The results show the strong link between alliance ambidexterity and firm performance, highlighting the balance between exploration and exploitation when firms make strategic decisions.

Previous studies on strategic alliance formation have largely overlooked the effects that organizations' routine development can have on the relationship between organizations' network position and their alliance ambidexterity strategy. This study extends ambidexterity research by adding internal and network perspectives and examining their cumulative effects on alliance ambidexterity. We first acknowledge the interplay between organizations' internal knowledge exploration/exploitation strategies and organizations' alliance ambidexterity and determine that organizations with a high level of internal knowledge breadth are more likely to make focused alliance decisions. Second, our analysis of 145 US-based information technology organizations with an active alliance behavior reveals that having well-formed routines as a result of previous collaborations strengthens the tendency of brokerage organizations to follow alliances that focus on either exploration or exploitation. Although most alliance studies have commonly argued in favor of an ambidextrous approach, this study provides critical evidence that both internal knowledge exploration/exploitation strategies and development of routines constrain organizations' alliance formation decisions, guiding them towards a more focused approach.

New product preannouncement through global supply chain management and international strategic alliances is a critical issue for firm's survive and gaining the competitive advantage in the global smart-phone market. To identify the impact of exploration alliance and exploitation alliance on the short-term's Firm Performance, respectively, This study implemented the event study and the cross sectional regression analysis, focusing on the case of Galaxy Note series. Research results identified that new technologies by exploration alliance and the existing technologies through exploitation alliance have a positive effect on the short-term's performance of vendors related. Furthermore, information for the new products showed higher the excess earning rate than information related to the existing technologies. This implies the firms that provides new technologies have a stronger innovative ability than the companies serving the existing technologies, recognizing as a positive signal in the market. Finally, this study implicates that new technologies by exploration alliance enhances innovative abilities from new product preannouncement, and is a critical variable that can determines whether to survive in the market.

The purpose of this study is to identify the strategy of alliance portfolio and to compare the firm's characteristics and internal capabilities of each strategy for the successful utilization of alliance. We conducted a cluster analysis and ANOVA on 477 samples, which have alliance experience among the manufacturers responding to the Business Survey by Statistical Office in both 2012 and 2013. As a result of the analysis, it was found that firms have alliance portfolio based on strategy such as exploration, exploitation, and ambidextrity. There are statistically significant differences in the number of patents, technology capability, marketing capability, and global capability among the alliance portfolio strategy type.

Purpose - The aim of this paper is to examine the newly formed a partnership of Amazon, Berkshire Hathaway (Berkshire) and JPMorgan through the lens of strategic alliance, corporate philanthropy, and corporate social responsibility. Research design, data, and methodology - This is an analytical case study that examines the existing scholarly articles in strategic alliances, corporate philanthropy, and corporate social responsibility to explain the recent strategic alliance. Results - There is a clear limitation in explaining this type of unconventional strategic alliance with exiting definitions and concepts because there is no existing study or case available today. Forming a strategic business alliance to create and operate healthcare for their domestic employees could be viewed as a social innovation that resulted from an effort to resolve a social problem, the ineffective healthcare system in the U.S., rather than focusing on business benefits and profits. Conclusions - The success or failure of this type of business alliance would certainly affect the current healthcare system of the United States and global businesses and healthcare industries in the future. However, just entering or tapping into uncharted territory by these three companies to deal with a social issue is significant enough to merit further exploration and analysis for scholars and practitioners.

The reason for this match fixing in power part of the formation of capital and profits for the exact cause has developed that further threatens the fair sport. Thus, in fairness, and relations of power in sport doping and match-fixing is historically very meaningful and, further research and discussion is needed. There are efforts to optimize costs and maximize effectiveness of sports events with changing cognition. Proper organizational structure can be initiative to do these, so there are necessities of propose functional areas at the management perspective. With these background, the purpose of this study is to classify functional areas of Olympic at the management aspect. For this purpose, this study conduct four steps delphi research with total 7 experts. First step, experts conduct categorizing and itemizing based on 69 functional areas of 2016 Rio Olympic. Second step, experts provide opinion about first step results and third step, experts propose their point of view regarding to core issues. Fourth step, experts conduct group discussion for drawing final results.

The development of lightweight, low energy and small-sized sensors incorporated with the wireless networks has brought about a phenomenal growth of Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) in its different fields of applications. Moreover, the routing of data is crucial in a wide number of critical applications that includes ecosystem monitoring, military and disaster management. However, the time-delay, energy imbalance and minimized network lifetime are considered as the key problems faced during the process of data transmission. Furthermore, only when the functionality of cluster head selection is available in WSNs, it is possible to improve energy and network lifetime. Besides that, the task of cluster head selection is regarded as an NP-hard optimization problem that can be effectively modelled using hybrid metaheuristic approaches. Due to this reason, an Improved Coyote Optimization Algorithm-based Clustering Technique (ICOACT) is proposed for extending the lifetime for making efficient choices for cluster heads while maintaining a consistent balance between exploitation and exploration. The issue of premature convergence and its tendency of being trapped into the local optima in the Improved Coyote Optimization Algorithm (ICOA) through the selection of center solution is used for replacing the best solution in the search space during the clustering functionality. The simulation results of the proposed ICOACT confirmed its efficiency by increasing the number of alive nodes, the total number of clusters formed with the least amount of end-to-end delay and mean packet loss rate.

The purpose of this study is to draw a systematic access method of career intervention for dance majors. This study conducted Delphi survey and Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP). As a result of study, 16 elements of career intervention were produced in total 4 areas. Results show that vocational guidance puts emphasis on the understanding of the various vocations, career education on the career planning and goal, career counseling on the macro-narrative to the life and career intervention network on the dance job fair and workshop. In the complex weight of all factors, ratings of weight show that dance vocation guidance and career education are demanded significantly. Results show that expansion of career alternatives, application of diversified dance career development road map to the curriculum, development of test tool and outcome standard, dance educators' systematic career intervention education and systematization of network for career support were suggested as measures for dance career intervention. This study discussed about dynamic reality and systematic access method for dance majors based on theories of Holland(1997), Super(1990), and Savickas(2005).
