The purpose of this paper is to analyze the relative importance of consciousness towards savings / consumption and motivation to save in explaining the proportion of savings in household. For these purpose, a survey was conducted using questionnaires on 453 households. The results showed that (1) family income had not significant effect on the proportion of savings in household, (2) the proportion of family savings was high in the group of families who showed positive consciousness towards savings, (3) motivation to save was associated with the proportion of savings in terms of significant relationship.
This study investigates the relationship of self-differentiation with individualism and collectivism among college students. Special focus was on whether distinctions between vertical and horizontal individualism and collectivism were more useful in examining the relationship with self-differentiation. The results reveal that different aspects of individualism and collectivism were differently related to self-differentiation, indicating that self-differentiation was negatively associated with all aspects of collectivism and with vertical individualism, but positively with horizontal individualism. This study proved that four distinct constructs were more useful in explaining the effects on self-differentiation. The implications of the findings are discussed for clinicians and future research.
Synthetic antiferromagnets (SAFs) are used as free layer structures for various magnetic devices utilizing spintransfer torque (STT). Therefore, it is important to understand current-induced excitation of SAFs. By means of drift-diffusion and macrospin models, we studied the current-induced excitation of a SAF-free layer structure (NiFe/Ru/NiFe). The simulation results were compared with the previous experimental results [N. Smith et al., Phys. Rev. Lett. 101, 247205 (2008)]. We confirmed that a nonzero STT through the Ru layer is essential for explaining the experimental results.
The present study investigated the relationship between demographic variables(gender, grade in school, etc.) and children's social intelligence. Elementary and middle school students responded to the self-reported inventory on social intelligence, and their teachers used the social intelligence rating scale for children. The results show gender, grade, and regional differences in children's abilities to deal with various social situation. Furthermore, parents' education and residence is also related to their children's social intelligence. Based on regression analyses, it was found that grade in school and parent education were the most influential variables in explaining variance in children's social intelligence.
In many cases where the binomial distribution fails to apply to real world data it is because of more variability in the data than can be explained by that distribution. Several authers have proposed models that are useful in explaining extra-binomial variation. In this paper we point out a characterization of sequences of exchangeable Bernoulli variables which can be used to develop models which show more variability than the binomial. We give sufficient conditions which will yield such models and show how existing models can be continued to generate further models. A numerical example and simulation given.
All work related to maintenance of track has been impletemented on the basis of the measured result from EM series cars in Korea. However, since these types of cars measure only versine value of the track irregularities instead of the real ones, this method will cause the confusion to maintenance operators if commercial speed should increase. This study was showing and explaining the program developed to get the real irregularities from the versine value. Finally, the reconstruction profiles completed by two different methods were compared with artificial track irregularities to confirm the their practicality.
The paper is intended to develop a typology of residential mobility and systemizes the many empirical analysis of reasons for moving. An integrated conceptual framework of decision making process for residential mobility is proposed. the traditional behavioral approaches were evaluated for its explaining power, and the results and constraints were testified. For the conceptual framework, the role of external opportunities and constrains on households was emphasized. Finally, it is suggested that the housing needs, housing constraints, and housing opportunities of urban households should be considered together form the integrated model.
Deformability of RC members in shear after flexural yielding is limited and controlled by governing failure modes and material strength. Shear strength of members in D-regions has been explained by a direct load path (direct strut or arch action) and indirect load path (fan action or truss action). Indirect load path including truss action and fan action rely on bond along tension ties. Generally, superposition of two actions results in total shear strength when shear failure modes control. The ultimate deformation depends on controlling failure modes and thereby, their force transfer patterns. Proposed models are capable of explaining of limited deformability of RC members in D-regions.

The estimating function method was proposed by Godambe(1985) for parameter estimation under unknown distributions for errors in the models. Threshold Autoregressive Heteroscedastic (Threshold-ARCH) models have been developed by Zakoian(1994) and Li and Li(1996) for explaining the asymmetric properties in the financial time series data. In this paper, we apply the estimating function method to the Threshold-ARCH model and show that the proposed estimators perform better than the MLE under the heavy-tailed distributions.
Optical fiber subscriber receive communication system is a core technology of multimedia home networks because it provides the high-level quality of data and services. This paper executes an analysis and research on this communication systems and presents the theoretical background for the purpose of understanding the optical communication system principal and explaining signal process flows to divide each block for the implementing ASIC design.
