Purpose: In Kyung Hee East-West Neo Medical Center, Seoul, Korea, efforts to raise rooming-in care success rate have been undertaken since when the hospital was established in 2006. We intended to analyze our experience over the past 3 years of period and to discuss the advantages of rooming-in. Methods: We analyzed the rooming-in practice rate, failure rate, and the breast feeding rate. Subjects were 860 normal healthy neonates from June 2006 to June 2009. Results: Among these 860 cases, 83 babies were required separation out of rooming-in in the middle of the course. Among these 83 cases, 70 cases had to stop the course due to poor condition of babies and 13 cases due to maternal condition. 70 cases of infant's causes consist of 68 cases of NICU admission and 2 cases of poor feeding support. The other 13 cases of separation include refusal by maternal condition. Therefore the success rate of rooming-in for the last 3 years was 90.3%, that is 777 cases among the total 860 cases. The percentage of exclusive breast feeding was 64%, that of mixed feeding with breast and formula feeding was 25%, and formula feeding only was 11%. Conclusion: We experienced successful rooming-in care for the last 3 years. Nursery facilities should educate and encourage the advantages of rooming-in, including the good formation of attachment between mother and infant, emotional stability, protection from infection, and increased breast feeding rate so that rooming-in care can be fully established.
Pulmonary edema is a disease involving the principal symptoms: dyspnea, bloody phlegm, asthma, cough, etc. According to oriental medical references, Jeomglyukdaejosapaetang (J.D.T) was efficacious for dropsy, cough, dysnea, etc, so it was thought to be used for remedy of pulmonary edema. Therefore experimental study was performed to investigate the effects of J.C.T on pulmonary edema of the rats induced by the herbicide, paraquat. Thus the survival rats, respiratory rats, lung weights and histopathological view of the lungs of rats were studied. The results are as follows. 1. The survival rates at 72hours of the rats injected with paraquat and treated with J.D.T increased in B group(J.D.T + Cortex Lycii Radicis + Cortex mori). The others were not different with the control. 2. The respiratory rates of the rats which survived 72hours later significantly decreased in B group(J.D.T + Cortex Lycii Radicis + Cortex mori). 3. The lung weights of the rats which survived for 72hours later significantly decreased in B group(J.B.T + Cortex Lycii Radicis + Cortex mori). 4. The histopathological views of the lungs of rats induced by paraquat were seen severe hemorrhage, edema and some broken alveoli in control group. But B group(J.D.T + Cortex Lycii Radicis + Cortex mori) were seen little hemorrhage and interstitial hyperplasia. According to the above results, J.D.T + Cortex Lycii Radicis + Cortex mort is effective on the remedy for pulmonary edema of rats induced by paraquat.

Background: Breastfeeding reportedly reduces the overall frequency of infections. Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), the most common respiratory pathogen in infants, involves recurrent wheezing and has a pathogenic mechanism related to airway structural damage. Purpose: This study aimed to investigate whether breastfeeding has a beneficial effect against RSV-induced respiratory infection compared to formula feeding among infants in Korea. Methods: We retrospectively reviewed the medical records of infants under 1 year of age who were admitted with RSV infection between January 2016 and February 2018 at the department of pediatrics of 4 hospitals. We investigated the differences in clinical parameters such as cyanosis, chest retraction, combined infection, fever duration, oxygen use, oxygen therapy duration, intensive care unit (ICU) admission, and corticosteroid treatment of exclusive breast milk feeding (BMF), artificial milk formula fed (AMF), and mixed feeding (MF) groups. Results: Among the 411 infants included in our study, 94, 161, and 156 were included in the BMF, MF, and AMF groups, respectively. The rates of oxygen therapy were significantly different among the BMF (4.3%), MF (8.1%), and AMF (13.5 %) groups (P=0.042). The odds ratios (ORs) for oxygen therapy was significantly higher in the AMF group than in the BMF group (adjusted OR, 3.807; 95% confidence interval, 1.22-11.90; P=0.021). The ICU admission rate of the BMF group (1.1%) was lower than that of the MF (3.5%) and AMF (4.5%) groups; however, the dissimilarity was not statistically significant (P=0.338). Conclusion: The severity of RSV infection requiring oxygen therapy was lower in the BMF than the AMF group. This protective role of human milk on RSV infection might decrease the need for oxygen therapy suggesting less airway damage.

The exact model of impact ionization events in which has influence on device efficiency, is to be necessary element for device simulation. Recently, a modified Keldysh formula with two set of power exponent of 7.8 and 5.6 is used to simulate carrier transport. This model is, however, not suitable as impact ionization model in low energy range since this ignore direction dependent properties of impact ionization. The impact ionization rate is highly anisotropic at low energy, while it becomes isotropic at higher energy range. Note that impact ionization events frequently occur in high energy range. For calculating impart ionization rate, we use full energy band structure derived from Fermi's golden rule and empirical pseudopotential method. We compare with calculated and experimental value, and investigate direction dependent conduction energy band structure along the direction of <100>, <110> and <111>. We know that the threshold energy of impact ionization is anisotropic and impact ionization rate is very deviated from modified Keldish formula, in relatively low energy range.
In this study, undrained shear test was performed$K_o$ consolidation in order to study the shear strength characteristics of oysters-marine clay mixtures for three mixed ratios(0%, 25% and 50%). And, in order to study shear strength characteristics of oysters-marine clay mixtures, three different effective vertical stresses(200, 300 and 400kPa) were applied for the $K_o$ consolidation tests. In addition three different axial strain rates(0.005%/min, 0.05%/min, 0.5%/min) were applied for the case of effective vertical stress, 300kPa. According to experimental results, the more mixed ratios were increased, the more deviator stress was increased by crushing effect of oysters particles. especially, when effective vertical stress is 300kPa and mixed ratio increase from 25% to 50%, Test shows the increase of shear strength. But axial strain rate was not effect on the undrained shear strength. In the comparison and analysis that are based on the values of tests on the oysters-marine clay mixtures and the Mayne & Bishop's empiric formula, the undrained shear strength ratio shows a similar pattern of the tests. But for the prediction of the coefficient of the pore water pressure, the value of empiric formula shows more overestimated than the values of the tests at 0%, mixture ratio.
Objective : The purpose of this study is to indicate of problems in statistical analysis method of "The Korean Journal of oriental Medical Prescription" and we will be proposed the useful application of the statistical analysis method. Methods : In this paper, we were analysed statistical analysis methodology from published journal articles "The Korean Journal of Oriental Medical Prescription" December, year 2000 to December, year 2008. We were investigated of problems in application of structured analysis methods those journal articles that including statistical analysis techniques and analysis methods. Results : 1. A random allocation of the experimental group and control groups are important factors in the planning process of statistical analysis. However, there are less explanation those journal articles. 2. There are no consideration in specimen size that there will be considerate by the level of significance and statistical test. 3. Many article authors were confused between parametric methods and non-parametric methods that they were applied parametric statistical analysis methods although inapplicable sample size. 4. There were applied the parametric methods consists of t-test instead non-parametric methods in the comparison of average intergroup relations. 5. There were less understanding posterior analysis and were confused with t-test. Conclusion : Our goal was to outline the key methods with a brief discussion of problems(statistical analysis methods), avenues for solutions. we recommend authors to use an appropriate statistical analysis methods for obtaining a more cautions results.

In this paper, using the principle of Static Measurement Methods suggested by Huang (1998), a new experimental device has been made and used in order to calculate the unsaturated permeability of Nak-dong river sand with silt which is an important basic property in the unsaturated soil. This device was designed to measure changes of the unsaturated permeability according to the increase of matric suction. The value of the unsaturated permeability obtained in testing and that obtained using the empirical permeability functional formula were compared and analyzed. As a result, the value of the unsaturated permeability tends to be decreased according to the increase of relative density, silt content and matric suction. This tendency shows it is very closely related to the change of moisture content and void ratio. The empirical permeability functional formula presented by Frelund & Xing (1995) was regarded as the most appropriate model to represent the unsaturated permeability of Nak-dong River silty sand.

The liquid column and spray trajectory have been experimentally studied in liquid jets injected into subsonic crossflow. With water as fuel injection velocity, injection angle were varied to provide of jet operation conditions. The Pulsed Shadowgraph Photography and Planar Liquid Laser Induced Fluorescence technique was used to determine the injection characteristics in a subsonic crossflow of air. And the mainly objectives of this research was to get a empirical formula of liquid column and spray region trajectory with forward and reversed injection of air stream. As the result, This research has been shown that each trajectories were spatially dependent on air-stream velocity, fuel injection velocity, various injection angle, and normalized injector exit diameter. Furthermore, the empirical formula of liquid column trajectories has been some different of drag coefficient results between forward and reversed angled injection.
In this paper three turbulence models including two-equation model by Blumberg and Mellor (1987), one-equation model with mixing length formula of Blackadar's (1962), and zero-equation model of Prandtl's (1925) were compared in homogeneous, unstratified channel flows. Steady flows which a steep-sided trapezoidal trench with uniform discharge, tidal flow and steady wind-driven flow in finite channels are considered in detail. Steady flows in a trench and tidal flows in a finite channel were reproduced fairly accurately and there was virtually no difference among results of three turbulence models. However, In case of steady wind-driven flow only two-equation model reproduced the important features of experimental data. the other two models underestimated the surface velocity. In tidal and wind-driven flows with negligibly small adjective and diffusive effects, the two-equation model gives rise to parabolic profile of eddy viscosity with maximum at the mid0depth, and the one and zero equation model based on Blackadar formula linear profile with maximum at the surface.
