  • In this paper, a PWM Buck-Boost AC-AC converter for improvement of power quality of custom power is presented. The PWM Buck-Boost AC-AC converter is modelled by using circuit DQ transformation whereby the design guideline is obtained. Based on the analysis, the converter system is implemented with the design criteria and the experimental results show the validity of modelling and analysis.

  • This paper presents a digital calculation method of instantaneous reactive power component for standby power supply(SPS) system. Reactive current is defined in time domain, calculated instantaneously by using a TMS320C25. The theoretical analysis is verified by the digital simulation and experimental results.

  • In this study, the in-situ parameter identification method for active magnetic bearing (AMB) actuator based on an open-loop balancing scheme is proposed. The scheme utilizes the relation between the compensating voltage and the known unbalance force. Main advantage of this method is that it is easy to use, yet it gives the actuator dynamics on the actual operating condition of an AMB system. The experimental results show that the proposed scheme compensates the known unbalance accurately and consequently identifies the actuator dynamics effectively.

  • In this paper, a performance evaluation of different current regulators for induction motor drive systems fed by IGBT inverter is presented. The twoparts of current regulation are considered : current error compensation part, voltage modulation part. The characteristics of hysteresis, synchronous PI, decoupled PI, predictive, deadbeat and stage feedback controllers are analyzed and the steady-state performances and transient responses of current regulation are well compared through the simulation and experimental results.

  • The AC drive systems of a voltage source inverter and an induction motor. The inverter non linearity caused by the turn on/off time dependency of the current level in the switching IGBT is described in the first part of this paper. To improve the low-speed drive characteristics, accurate applied voltage calculation is proposed under considerations of the compensations for the quantization error in the digital controller, the forward voltage drop of switching drives and the dead time of the inverter. The experimental studies show the improved drive characteristics.

  • We have studied the optical properties of the biaxial film such as fast axis, retardance and the change of polarization state between crossed polarizer using dual rotating retarder polarimeter. We have developed a novel simulation model, which could explain well the experimental results, and found that it could be used to optimize the compensation film in LCD for improving wide-viewing property.

  • Digital control laws are implemented on an active magnetic bearing system with DSP. The results of tests using a experimental apparatus are (1) in a case that conventional PID, PIDD2 controls are employed, implemention of digital control law has similar characteristics to that of analogue control law. (2)The experiments reveal the results that the dynamic compensation based on the observer may be better than that of the other conventional controllers.

  • This paper presents a one cycle R&D project regarding the large inertia platform servo control system. The steps followed the rather orthodox procedure. A serial double rate-loop was closed with a position loop, and acceleration velocity anticipatory compensations were designed in the forward path. Some appropriate compensation devices were utilized for the signal processing as well as for the better control quality. Simulations and experimental tests were repeated, and satisfactory performances were observed. However, frequency domain uncertainties inherent to the large structures still remain as an expertise supported subject.

  • The shift of flow behavior due to dynamic recrystallization during hot forming process is investigated, A series of load relaxation and compression tests has been conducted at various temperatures Constitutive relations and recrystallization behaviors were formulated from the mechanical test results, The consideration of dynamic recrystallization during a specific forming process was implemented to commercial FEM package by conditioned remeshing and remapping of state variables. Improvement of Load-Stroke prediction was validated by comparison with experimental results.

  • Real-time implementations of active noise controller are proposed and tested. For compensation of time delay of feed-back path, the n-step ahead prediction is applied. And predicting source noise and reflection noise respectively, reflection noise can be cancelled. For real-time processing, the DSP56001(Digital Signal Processor) is used. Experimental results show that the proposed controller is stable and of good performance.
