Objectives: This study was to propose a standardized method of retention enema by extracting elements associated with published experimental methods of retention enema. Methods: 1) Literature search (1) Data sources: Retrieval was made, using 'Enema' or 'Retention Enema' as search words in Medline, Cochrane library, KISS, RISS, and KDSL DB. (2) Study selection: Two authors excluded irrelevant papers and chose qualified abstracts from the rest of the papers. The chosen studies were reviewed fully by the authors so that they could screen the significant papers based on the exclusion criteria. (3) Data extraction: Data on the total number of subjects, the target disease, the animal species, the type, quality, length, and diameter of catheter, the insertion length of catheter, the sample, the sample volume, the process of retention enema and the number of retention enemas performed were extracted from the selected studies. 2) Performing preliminary experiments about the elements associated with experimental methods of retention enema. Results & Conclusions: The standardized experimental method is as follows: animal: 280-320g SD rat 1) inserting a rectal tube of 8 Fr that measures 8 cm into the animal's anus, 2) injecting herbal medicines at the volume of 6ml and 3) holding them for 10 minutes.
Carbonation is one of the most important factors causing the corrosion of reinforcement concrete. Nevertheless, experimental studies on the concrete carbonation have not been carried out sufficiently because of the slow process of carbonation process. Therefore, this study adopts an experimental system exploiting a vacuum instrument that has been recently developed to accelerate carbonation instead of existing experimental system to conduct rapid carbonation tests on Portland cement and fly-ash cement concretes. Test results revealed that, compared to water-cement ratio of 40%, the carbonation depth increases from 103% to 138% for an increase of water-cement ratio from 45% to 60%. These results are larger than the carbonation depths obtained by mathematical model, and such difference is increasing with larger water-cement ratios. The results also indicated that larger fly-ash contents lead to sharp increase of the carbonation depth, which is in agreement with previous experimental researches. The adoption of the new accelerated carbonation test system enabled to shorten effectively the time required to produce experimental data compared to the existing carbonation test method. The experimental data obtained in this study together with ongoing acquisition of data using the new carbonation test method are expected to contribute in the understanding of the carbonation process of concrete structures in Korea.
The determination of a regression model is important in using statistical designs of experiments. Generally, the exact regression model is not known, and experimenters suppose that a certain model form will be fit. Then an experimental design suitable for that predetermined model form is selected and the experiment is conducted. However, the initially chosen regression model may not be correct, and this can result in undesirable statistical properties. We develop model-robust experimental designs that have stable prediction variance for a family of candidate regression models over a cuboidal region by using genetic algorithms and the desirability function method. We then compare the stability of prediction variance of model-robust experimental designs with those of the 3-level face centered cube. These model-robust experimental designs have moderately high G-efficiencies for all candidate models that the experimenter may potentially wish to fit, and outperform the cuboidal design for the second-order model. The G-efficiencies are provided for the model-robust experimental designs and the face centered cube.

Tests of the lateral and torsional stability are quite sensitive to the experimental conditions, such as support conditions and loading system. Controlling all of these conditions in a full-size test is a very challenging task. Therefore, in this paper, an experimental measurement method that can control the experimental conditions using a small-scale model was proposed to evaluate the lateral and torsional stability of beams. For this, a loading system was provided to maintain the vertical direction of the load applied to the beam, and a support frame was produced to satisfy the in-plane and out-of-plane support conditions. The experimental method using a small-scale model was applied successively to the lateral and torsional behavior and stability of I-shaped beams. The proposed experimental methods, which effectively accommodate the changes in the geometry and length of the beam, could contribute to further experimental studies regarding the lateral and torsional stability of flexural members.
This paper presents an experimental study on the behaviour of steel beams with different types of web openings. Steel beams with web openings became progressively more accepted as a well-organized structural form in steel construction since their existence. Their complicated design and profiling method provides better flexibility in beam proportioning for strength, depth, size and location of holes. The objective of this study is to carry out the experiments on steel beams with different types of web openings and performed non-linear finite element (FE) analysis of the beams that were considered in the experimental study in order to determine their ultimate load capacity and failure modes for comparison. Ten full scale models of steel beam with web openings have been tested in the experimental investigation. The finite element method has been used to predict their entire response to increasing values of external loading until they lose their load carrying capacity. FE model of each specimen that is utilized in the experimental studies is carried out. These models are used to simulate the experimental work to verify test results and to investigate the nonlinear behaviour of failure modes such as local buckling, lateral torsional buckling, web-post buckling, shear buckling and Vierendeel bending of beams.
In this paper, the experimental design of an intake system was studied using the two microphones method and the taguchi method. The transmission loss was utilized to represent the performance of noise reduction for the intake system which was estimated by measuring sound power at inlet and outlet with two microphones, respectively. Two microphones method used in this paper was followed by wave decomposition theory. The robust designing parameters of an intake system were extracted by adapting a cost function with the taguchi method, which optimized the process. Finally the effectiveness of the propose method was validated with the experimental data.

This paper presents an improved maximum power point tracking method that can fast track the global maximum power point (GMPP) for a photovoltaic system under partial shading conditions. The proposed method combines the advantages of the maximum power trapezium (MPT) method and the search-skip-judge method to minimize the tracking voltage intervals. Thus, the proposed method can quickly track the GMPP by skipping unnecessary tracking voltage intervals. The superiority of the proposed method is verified through simulation results in the MATLAB/Simulink and experimental real-time operation results with the hardware-in-the-loop simulation. The simulation and experimental results demonstrated that the proposed method has a faster tracking time than the MPT method under various partial shading conditions.
The change of critical current with a crack formation in a Bi-2223/Ag tape was studied by experimental and numerical analyses. Critical current of Bi-2223/Ag tape was measured with a continuous DC-power supply. The current-voltage relation of a Bi-2223/Ag tape is measured by the four point method. Numerical method is used to solve two dimensional heat conduction equation. By comparing the experimental and numerical results, the validity of numerical method is verified.
A practical estimation method for groundwater level elevations is introduced. Using geostatistical techniques with drift, averaging process and ratio, experimental variograms show significant improved coorelation compared with those from conventional techniques. The estimation method is applied to a field experimental data set.
