The technique to design high performance small motors has been based on experimental data, which results from lots of cost, experience and time in manufacturing. Recently, as high-performance computer appears, many engineers use numerical methods to design and analyze electric machine. Since, the step motor which has very small air gap(0.02-0.05mm) is different from other electric machine in its structure. The shape of rotor teeth and stator teeth influence seriously on the torque characteristics. And it is operated over magnetic saturation point. Therefore, the design of step motor needs to solve nonlinear problem and to calculate magnetic field precisely. In this paper, we solve nonlinear problem by employing Finite Element Method and obtain torque-displacement characteristics for the design of step motor. We also manufacture VR step motor according to the obtained results, and measure some torque characteristics. Through comparing calculated results with experimental results, it is verified that FEM is very useful to design step motor, and the motor designed by our technique is improved in its step accuracy.
Purpose: We sought to examine whether using the rhythmic stabilization (RS) technique before proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF) wrist taping affected pain and grip strength in patients with wrist pain to provide a basis for the application of PNF taping. Methods: The study consisted of 41 badminton enthusiasts (aged 20-40 years) who reported discomfort and pain due to overuse of their wrists. The subjects were randomly assigned to an experimental group (n=20) or a control group (n=21). In the experimental group, PNF wrist taping was applied after application of the PNF RS technique, and PNF wrist taping was applied after stretching in the control group. The tape was applied five times a week for 3 weeks. Pain was measured using the visual analog scale (VAS). Grip strength was measured using a dynamometer. The paired t-test was performed to compare grip strength and pain within the groups before and after the intervention. Covariance analysis was conducted to compare differences between the experimental group and control group. The level of significance was set as ${\alpha}=0.05$. Results: Within-group changes in grip strength and VAS were significantly different in the control group and experimental group (p<0.01). Grip strength and VAS showed more improvement in the experimental group than in the control group (p<0.01). Conclusion: PNF wrist taping after stretching and the PNF RS technique both significantly reduced pain and improved grip strength in club badminton players with wrist pain. These improvements were significantly greater in the experimental group in which the PNF RS technique was applied. The results suggest that PNF may be considered useful to improve grip strength and reduce wrist pain.
Purpose: For more than 30 years, robust parameter design (RPD), which attempts to minimize the process bias (i.e., deviation between the mean and the target) and its variability simultaneously, has received consistent attention from researchers in academia and industry. Based on Taguchi's philosophy, a number of RPD methodologies have been developed to improve the quality of products and processes. The primary purpose of this paper is to review and discuss existing RPD methodologies in terms of the three sequential RPD procedures of experimental design, parameter estimation, and optimization. Methods: This literature study composes three review aspects including experimental design, estimation modeling, and optimization methods. Results: To analyze the benefits and weaknesses of conventional RPD methods and investigate the requirements of future research, we first analyze a variety of experimental formats associated with input control and noise factors, output responses and replication, and estimation approaches. Secondly, existing estimation methods are categorized according to their implementation of least-squares, maximum likelihood estimation, generalized linear models, Bayesian techniques, or the response surface methodology. Thirdly, optimization models for single and multiple responses problems are analyzed within their historical and functional framework. Conclusion: This study identifies the current RPD foundations and unresolved problems, including ample discussion of further directions of study.
This paper presents a study of surface roughness prediction model by experimental design in turning operation. Regression analysis technique has been used to study the effects of the cutting parameters such as cutting speed, feed and depth of cut on surface roughness. The experiment has been conducted using coated tungsten carbide inserts without cutting fluid. The reliability of the surface roughness model as a function of the cutting parameters has been estimated. The results show that the experimental design used in cutting process is a method to estimate the effects of cutting parameter on surface roughness.
IN induction heating system the high frequency operation allows a rapid response to current fluctuation in the inverter and result in improved welding quality. To work induction heating of nonferrous metals, a welding power supply is need high working frequency and high power. This paper is shown design technique for increasing working frequency in induction heating for welding coppers. A series-parallel resonate inverter consists of H-type bridges, each of whose arms is composed of a combination of two parallel IGBTs. Inverter operating with the fixed frequency is controlled by pulse width modulation (PWM). As switching adapted the Zero-Voltage Switching technique to reduce switching losses the system is high efficiency. The propose inverter has feature which is high efficiency for very wide load variations with a narrow range of duty cycle ratio control and load short circuit capability. Detailed experimental results obtained from a 48[V] output, 500[W] experimental inverter are presented to verify the concept.
Systematic design of a controller for a water temperature system was considered, with the intention of devising an accurate control experiment. The results of an experiment using a water temperature system based on the pole placement regulator showed water temperature oscillation and steady state error. This paper proposed a. method for eliminating both the oscillation and the steady state error. The oscillation was eliminated by a drive delay compensation technique, in which a future state value of the system was predicted through a real time computer simulation. The steady state error was eliminated by an steady state error correction technique, in which an actual steady state heatrate in the system model was replaced by an imaginary heatrate. By combining these two techniques, we obtained an experimental result for water temperature control of 0.01 (.deg. C) accuracy. Furthermore, the proposed method was evaluated relatively by comparing the experimental results using several other methods and proved to be the most accurate and convenient control method for the delay system.
In the last several decades of 20 century, the user oriented design concept has evolved in more concrete ways, producing POE and UPD(User Participated design). These concepts are ways of achieving the fit between built environments and human needs. These, technique in the digital world has implied and promoted lots of experimental ways to interact with possible users before the construction stages in the design process to reduce the results, stemming from ineffective planning and designing. The purpose of this paper is to show an evaluation technique in the design cycle. An actually designed child care facility was evaluated before construction by potential users. For this purpose, focused group interview was employed.
In design of the friction clutches of automobiles, knowledge on the thermo-elasticity a priori is very informative in the initial design stage. Especially, the precise prediction technique of maximum temperature and stress should be requested in design of mechanical clutches for their durability and compactness. In this study, an efficient and reliable analysis technique for the design of the mechanical clutches by using computer modeling and numerical method was developed. A commercial software STAR-$CD^{TM}$ was used to find the convective heat-transfer coefficients. MSC/$NASTRAN^{TM}$ software was followed to predict the temperature of clutch with utilization of estimated coefficients. Some experiments were also performed with a dynamometer to verify the procedure and calibrate the thermal load. As a conclusion, a design procedure, including numerical steps and experimental techniques for calibration, was proposed.
A novel resonant pulse control technique which generates high-quality sinusoidal output voltage from a resonant dc link inverter is presented for UPS applicatons. The proposed control technique limits resonant voltae overshoot without any passive or active clamp circuit, resulting in resonant pulses iwth uniform amplitude and high efficiency. The output voltage is controlled by the third order contorller iwth an inner loop of th efilter inductor current and the feedforward controller. Analysis and design of the proposed control technique are illustrated and verified on a 5kVA experimental unit.
