Quadricorrelator 방식을 이용한 광주파수 잠김루프 제작 (Optical frequency locked loop using quadricorrelator)

  • An experimental results of optical requency locked loop with DFB semiconductor laser as VCO are presented. Using quadricorrelator as frequency difference detector and frequency off-set locking technique with 1GHz reference frequency, frequency locking range of 140MHz was achieved. This paper reports the design and realization details of the loop.

신경회로망과 실험계획법을 이용한 칩형상 예측 (Prediction of Chip Forms using Neural Network and Experimental Design Method)

  • This paper suggests a systematic methodology to predict chip forms using the experimental design technique and the neural network. Significant factors determined with ANOVA analysis are used as input variables of the neural network back-propagation algorithm. It has been shown that cutting conditions and cutting tool shapes have distinct effects on the chip forms, so chip breaking. Cutting tools are represented using the Z-map method, which differs from existing methods using some chip breaker parameters. After training the neural network with selected input variables, chip forms are predicted and compared with original chip forms obtained from experiments under same input conditions, showing that chip forms are same at all conditions. To verify the suggested model, one tool not used in training the model is chosen and input to the model. Under various cutting conditions, predicted chip forms agree well with those obtained from cutting experiments. The suggested method could reduce the cost and time significantly in designing cutting tools as well as replacing the“trial-and-error”design method.

Transient Analysis of a Simple Cycle Gas Turbine Engine

  • A method to simulate the gas turbine transient behavior is developed. The basic principles of the method and main input data required are described. Calculation results are presented in terms of whole operating regime of the engine. The influence of initial parameters such as starting engine power, moment of inertia of the rotor, fuel schedule on performance characteristics of gas turbine during transient operation is shown. In addition, the effect of bleeding air on transient behavior is also considered. For validation of the developed computer code, a comparative analysis with experimental data obtained from a heavy duty gas turbine is made. Calculation results agree well with the experimental data for the range of operating regime studied and proved applicability of the developed technique to initial design stage of control system.

  • This article shows various factors that influence the thermal-cycling reliability of semiconductor devices utilizing the lead-on-chip (LOC) die attach technique. This work details how the modification of LOC package design as well as the back-grinding and dicing process of semiconductor wafers affect passivation reliability. This work shows that the design of an adhesion tape rather than a plastic package body can play a more important role in determining the passivation reliability. This is due to the fact that the thermal-expansion coefficient of the tape is larger than that of the plastic package body. Present tests also indicate that the ceramic fillers embedded in the plastic package body for mechanical strengthening are not helpful for the improvement of the passivation reliability. Even though the fillers can reduce the thermal-expansion of the plastic package body, microscopic examinations show that they can cause direct damage to the passivation layer. Furthermore, experimental results also illustrate that sawing-induced chipping resulting from the separation of a semiconductor wafer into individual devices might develop into passivation cracks during thermal-cycling. Thus, the proper design of the adhesion tape and the prevention of the sawing-induced chipping should be considered to enhance the passivation reliability in the semiconductor devices using the LOC die attach technique.

  • 가스터빈 및 램제트의 효율 향상 및 허용수명과 안정성 확보를 위해서는 고온부품에 대한 효과적인 냉각기술개발이 필수적이다. 냉각시스템을 설계하기 위해서는 다양한 냉각방식에 대한 기초적인 연구뿐만 아니라, 이에 대한 이해를 기반으로 실제 조건에 대한 치밀한 해석이 필요하다. 실험 및 해석 결과를 토대로 열적 응력 및 예상 수명을 예측 할 수 있다. 이와 같은 일련의 설계 작업을 열설계 기술이라 하며, 열설계 기술은 가스터빈 및 램제트의 성능 향상은 물론 독자적인 설계 및 개발을 위해 필요한 핵심 요소설계기술 중 하나이다.

천식 환자를 위한 흡입기 교육 프로그램의 효과 (Evaluation of an Education Program for Patients with Asthma who use Inhalers)

  • Purpose: This study was done to evaluate the effectiveness of an education program for patients with asthma who use inhalers. Methods: The research design for this study was a non-equivalent control group quasi-experimental study. Participants in this study were 36 patients for the control group, and 43 patients for the experimental group. The experimental group participated in the education program. The control group received the usual care. Data were collected before and 1 month and 2 months after the program finished and were analyzed using the SPSS 12.0 program. Results: The experimental group had significantly higher scores of knowledge of inhalers, and inhalation technique compared to the control group. However, no significant differences were found between two groups for PEFR, asthma instability, and satisfaction with inhalers. Conclusion: According to the results, the education program was effective in improving knowledge of inhalers, and inhalation technique. Therefore, it is recommended that this education program be used in clinical practice as an effective nursing intervention for patients with asthma on inhalers.

  • The proposed method in this paper. termed the substructural reanalysis technique, utilizes the computational merits of the component mode synthesis technique and of reanalysis technique for the design sensitivities of the dynamic characteristics of substructurally combined structure. It is shown that the dynamic characteristics of the entire structure can be obtained by synthesizing the substructural eigensolution and the characteristics of the eigensolution for the design variables of the modifiable substructure. In this paper , the characteristics of the eigenvalue problems obtained by this proposed method are compared to exact eigensolution in terms of accuracy and computational efficiency. and the advantage of this proposed method as compared to the direct application of the whole structure and experimental results is demonstrated through examples of numerical calculation for the dynamic characteristics (natural frequencies and mode shapes) of a flexible vibration of thin cylinderical shell with branch shell under 2-end fixed positions, boundary condition. Thin cylinderical shell of overall length 1280mm, external diameter 360mm, thickness 3mm with branch shell is made of mild steel. The load condition for dynamic response in this paper is impulsive load of which magnitude is 10kgf, which have short duration of 0.1 sec. and time interval applied to calculate. $\Delta$T is 1.0$\times$10 super(-4) seconds.

Simulated Fault Injection Using Simulator Modification Technique

  • In the current very deep submicron technology era, fault tolerant mechanisms perform an essential function to cope with the effects of soft errors. To evaluate the effectiveness of the fault tolerant mechanism, reliability engineers use simulated fault injections using either saboteur modules or mutants in the simulation model. However, the two methods suffer from both inefficiency in the simulation mechanism and difficulties with the experimental setups. To overcome these inefficiencies, we propose the Verilog-based simulated fault injection (VFI) technique. VFI has the following advantages. First, modification of the design model is unnecessary. Second, the fault injection simulation procedure is simple and efficient. Third, various types of fault injection experiments can be performed. To evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed methodology, we developed a VFI environment using the ICARUS Verilog Simulator. From the experimental results, we were able to qualitatively evaluate the reliability of the target simulation models and to assess the effectiveness of the employed fault-tolerance mechanisms.

  • In this paper, a wideband two-layer H-shaped microstrip antenna for WLAN is designed and studied experimentally. To increase the bandwidth of microstrip patch antenna, a configuration of stacked type using parastic element is used, Furthermore, to reduce the size of microstrip patch antenna, the first technique is H-shaped patch type. the second technique is that the main radiator and parastic patch are shorted to the ground plane using ten shorting posts. The antenna bandwidth and radiation characteristics are calculated by ENSEMBLE ver. 5.0 simulation software, and compared with the experimental results, Experimental results show that the return loss is less than -10dB over the band of 5.086GHz to 5.832GHz, which is quite good agreement with the calculations.

An Experimental Study on Flow Characteristics of ERF Between Two Parallel-Plate Electrodes by Using PIV Technique

  • An experimental investigation was performed to study the characteristics of ER (Electro-Rheological) fluid flow in a horizontal rectangular tube with or without D. C voltage. To determine some characteristics of the ER flow, 2D PIV(Particle Image Velocimetry) technique was employed for velocity measurements. This research found the mean velocity distributions with 0kV /mm, l.0kV /mm and l.5kV /mm for Re=0, 0.62, 1.29 and 2.26. When the strength of the electric field increased, the cluster of ERF was clearly strong along the test tube and the flow rate decreased. The present results will contribute to the economical and compact design of ER fluids system.
