A Study on the Machining of Die Profile Using the CAM System (상용 CAM시스템을 활용한 금형 형상부(CORE/CAVITY)의 가공에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of the present paper is to investigate about the machining of profile (core/cavity) of mold die using the commercial CAM system. Recently the requirement of the light weight and high performance of automobiles has Increased. The weight of the automobile is very important in the viewpoint of the fuel and traveling performance. The optimal design technique, material technique, the process design for parts and specially, die machining technique need to be developed for increasing productivity and reducing production time of the automobile parts. In this study, the effect of machining condition on precision of die profile is investigated by experimental observation and analysis. The results will be reflected for development of the precision die of the automobile.

  • This paper describes a fuzzy controlled pre-chlorination technique for purifying the pulluted raw water in water purification lants. For the purpose of obtaining the high quality water, the appropriate pre-chlorine dosage rate has to be continuously adjusted according to a change in quality of a intake raw water, weather, solar nergy mount, temperature and etc. Therefore, the method of expressing an expert's empirical knowledge cumulated from his past carrier by fuzzy reasoning and the fuzzy controller design technique is necessary.In this paper fuzzy membership functions and rules accordingto emprircal knowledge and experimental field data were obtained, And also fuzzy cintriller design using four feedforward components for the determination of pre-chlorine dosage rate and four feedback ones for the compensation of its dosage rate with residual chlorine and its change rate, was executed.

  • Ball bearings are a major component of mechanical parts for transmitting rotation. Compared to tapered roller bearings, ball bearings offer less rolling resistance, which leads to reduced heat generation during operation. Because of these characteristics, ball bearings are widely used in electric vehicles and machine tools. The design of ball bearing cages has recently emerged as a major issue in ball bearing design. Cage design requires pre-verification of performance using theoretical or experimental formula or computational fluid dynamics (CFD). However, CFD analysis is time-consuming, making it difficult to apply in case studies for design decisions and is mainly used in performance prediction following design confirmation. To use CFD in the early stages of design, main-taining analytical accuracy while reducing the time required for analysis are necessary. Accordingly, this study proposes a laminar steady-state segment CFD technique to solve the problem of long CFD analytical times and to enable the use of CFD analysis in the early stages of design. To verify the reliability of the CFD analysis, a bearing drag torque test is performed, and the results are compared with the analytical results. The proposed laminar steady-state segment CFD technique is expected to be useful for case studies in bearing design, including cage design.

Digital Watermarking for Copyright Protection of 3-D CAD Design Drawing Based on Vector Data Using Digital Watermarking

  • There has been more increased the development of 3D technique since many 3D contents of 3D graphic model, 3D mobile/computer game, and 3D CAD have been serviced in Web or industry fields. Therefore, the watermarking system is more required to protect the copyright for 3D contents. Currently there has been researched about the watermarking for 3D graphic model of mesh or NURBS. However, watermarking technique based on CAD design drawing leaves something to be desired yet. This paper proposed the watermarking technique for 3D CAD design drawing using Line and Arc components. After drawing out Line and Arc components from designed drawing, we embed the watermark into both the length of Line component and the radius of Arc component. Experimental results verified that the proposed algorithm satisfies the transparency about watermarked drawing and also has the robustness against several attacks by using public CAD tool.

  • Odometry using wheel encoder is a common relative positioning technique for wheeled mobile robots. The major drawback of odometry is that the kinematic modeling errors are accumulated when the travel distance increases. Therefore, accurate calibration of odometry is required. In several related works, various schemes for odometry calibration are proposed. However, design guidelines of test tracks for odometry calibration were not considered. More accurate odometry calibration results can be achieved by using appropriate test track because the position and orientation errors after the test are affected by the test track. In this paper, we propose the design guidelines of test tracks for odometry calibration schemes using experimental heading errors. Numerical simulations and experiments clearly demonstrate that the proposed design guidelines result in more accurate calibration results.

  • Two regression models for explaining the tire performances (especially conering coefficients) by tire design and experimental factors are built. One is the ordinary regression model, and the explaining variables in the model are selected by a stepwise method. The other model is built by a modern nonparametric regression technique, called projection pursuit regression. Then two models are compared and combined, so that the relationship between the tire performances and design factors are well figured out. The optimal experimental design issue and future research ideas are also discussed.

  • This paper presents the optimal design of a brushless DC motor(BLDC) keeping the average torque and cogging torque of the initial model while minimizing the volume of magnet pole. Experimental design method and evolution strategy technique are performed for the shape optimization. The presented optimal designs show the both methods have the almost same result.

  • This paper proposes a decentralized control technique for 2-dimensional experimental helicopter systems. The decentralized control technique is especially suitable in large-scale control systems. We derive the stabilization condition for the interconnected Takagi-Sugeno (TS) fuzzy system using the rigorous tool-Lyapunov stability criterion and formulate the controller design condition in terms of linear matrix inequality (LMI). To demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed method, we include the experiment result as well as a computer simulation one, which strongly convinces us the applicability to the industry.

  • In this paper dynamic analyses and control design of a step-down switched-capacitor dc-dc converter are presented. Open-loop dynamics of the converter are analyzed using the stage-space averaging technique. A systmatic control design method that offers excellent closed-loop performance for the converter is proposed, The analysis results and dynamic performance of the converter are verified using 18 W experimental converter that delivers a 5V/3.5V output from a 11-16V input source.

  • The deformation of the rotating band is simulated to improve the original design of the rotating band. The improved designs are proposed by referring the result of the finite element analysis. A new experimental technique is proposed and its application has been carried out to show the validity of the result of the analysis and the performance of the improved design of the band.
