Characteristics of Red Wines Fermented with Different Strains of Dry (건조 효모와 포도 품종에 따른 적포도주의 발효 특성 변화)

  • This study investigated the effects of 3 different strains of my yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae Montrachet (UCD #522), S. bayanus Pasteur Champagne (UCD #595), and S. cerevisiae Epernay (CEG) and two grape varieties (Tamnara and M.B.A) on the quality of red wines. During fermentation, sugar content decreased and alcohol content increased Addition of my yeast increased fermentation speed for both grape varieties. Sensory quality tests and tests with an electronic tongue showed that red wine made from M.B.A grapes was superior to that made from Tamnara grapes and that red wine made without the addition of my yeast was better than that made by using dry yeast.

Flower Bud Differentiation and Growth Characteristics of Strawberry through Automatic Control of Temperature and Day Length (온도와 일장의 자동조절에 의한 딸기의 화아분화와 생육특성)

  • This experiment was conducted to investigate the effect of the automatic control of night temperature and day length on the flower bud initiation growth responses and yield of strawberries. Flower bud initiation was observed only 14 days after treatment in plants forced with automatic system but not in plants forced with traditional methods, and flower bud development was further progressed by an automatic system. In genernal, the crown diameter of runner plants derived from strawberries grown with the automatic system was smaller than those from the plants grown under hand-operated system and this tendency was clear in plants placed at middle and low position during forcing. The rate of transpiration was higher in plants treated with hand operated method but the content of chlorophyll was lower than those treated with the automatic system. Results indicated that automatic system has an advantage in stimulation of flower bud initiation and improving the quility of runner plants.

  • 잇꽃(Carthamus tinctorius L.)은 국화과에 속하는 두해살이 초본 식물로 한자명은 홍화(紅花), 영명으로는 Safflower를 사용하고 있다. 우리나라의 잇꽃 재배는 2010년 39ha 수준이 재배되다가 2014년에는 76ha까지 확대되었으나 점차 감소하는 추세를 보이고 있으며 2018년에는 55ha가 재배되고 있는 것으로 보고되었고 주산지는 전라남도와 경상북도로 알려져 있다. 잇꽃은 종실을 주로 한약재 원료로 사용해왔으나, 잇꽃의 어린 순을 나물용으로 생산하기 위한 재배가 늘어나는 추세이다. 본 연구는 준고랭지에서 잇꽃 나물을 생산하기 위한 재배 양식과 파종시기별 수량성 및 품질 차이를 구명하고자 수행하였다. 준고랭지에서의 가을 재배에서 파종 후 80%가 출현하기까지의 출현 소요일수는 5~7일로 나타났으며, 재배유형별 수확 도달일수는 시설 재배 9월 29일 파종이 29일로 가장 짧았고 노지 재배에서는 8월 25일 파종이 42일로 가장 길었다. 파종시기별 수확기까지의 유효적산온도는 시설 하우스에서 9월 29일 파종 후 10월 28일 수확하는 작형에서 634.4℃로 가장 낮게 나타났다. 재배 유형별 생육량을 조사한 결과 엽수 및 엽면적은 노지 재배 8월 25일 파종 작형에서 높았고 노지 9월 21일 파종 후 10월 8일 터널을 설치하는 작형에서는 경태 및 엽면적이 4.6mm, 26.2mm2로 유의하게 작은 경향을 나타냈다. 재배 유형별 건조수율은 13.8~15.1% 범위로 파종시기별로 유의한 차이를 보이지 않았으나 당도에서는 노지재배 9월 9일 파종과 9월 21일 파종에서 7.1°Bx, 7.0°Bx로 유의하게 높았고 시설 재배 9월 29일 파종에서 3.1°Bx로 가장 낮게 나타났다. 단위 면적당 생체 수량에서는 노지재배 8월 25일 파종에서 2,223.9kg/10a으로 가장 높았으며, 건조수율로 환산한 건물 수량에서도 노지 8월 25일 파종 작형에서 335.8kg/10a으로 유의하게 높게 나타났다. 노지 재배의 파종시기별 비타민 A 함량은 9월 21일 파종에서 23.3mg/100g으로 높았으며, 비타민 E 함량 또한 25.1mg/100g으로 높은 양상을 보였다.

Application Effect of Organic Fertilizer and Chemical Fertilizer on the Watermelon Growth and Soil Chemical Properties in Greenhouse (유기질비료와 화학비료의 시용수준에 따른 시설수박 생육과 토양화학성의 변화)

  • BACKGROUND: Organic fertilizers in watermelon cultivation are widely used to supply nutrient and organic matter. This study was conducted to investigate the effects of application rate of organic fertilizer on the watermelon growth and soil chemical properties in greenhouse METHODS AND RESULTS: The organic fertilizers used in this experiment were mixed expeller cake (MEC) and mixed organic fertilizer (MOF). The treatments were conducted with 4 levels (1.0 N, 0.7 N, 0.5 N and 0.3 N) on the basis of soil testing nitrogen fertilization (STNF) using MEC or MOF as the basal dressing, and using chemical fertilizers (CF) as the additional dressing on the rest of STNF. These fertilizations were compared to CF 1.0 N (0.3 N as the basal and 0.7 N as the additional dressing) and non fertilization (NF). The leaf area of watermelon in treatment 0.5 N and 0.3 N using MEC or MOF was similar to CF treatment. The absorbed nutrient amounts by leaf, weight and sugar contents of fruit in the 0.5 N and 0.3 N treatments were higher than other treatments. In 0.5 N and 0.3 N treatments using MEC or MOF on the basis of STNF, soil chemical properties such as electrical conductivity (EC), available $P_2O_5$ and exchangeable K concentrations after experiment showed tendency to decreasing or similar level before experiment. CONCLUSION(s): These results suggest that the MEC or MOF application as the basal dressing at the 30~50% level of STNF and CF application as the additional dressing on the rest of STNF be best to maintain adequate nutrient of soil and to increase marketable yield for watermelon.

Growth Analysis of Angelica gigas Nakai Affected by Cultivation Methods (참당귀(Angelica gigas Nakai)의 직파 및 이식재배에 따른 생장해석)

  • This study was conducted to obtain the information on dry matter productivity in Angelica gigas Nakai for establishing the cultivation method. Cultivation methods such as direct seeding on Mar. 31, Apr. 15 and Apr. 30, and transplanting of $8^{\frac{1}{2}}$, 9, 12 months old seedling were investigated. There were similar tendencies in changes of agronomic characters for all cultivation methods. Dry weight started to increase from 120 DAS. Direct seedling showed vigorous growth for aerial part, whereas transplanting showed better underground part. The quadratic polynomial was suitable to dry weight of root after 120 DAS (or DAT) .Short growing time had higher RGR and NAR independent of cultivation method but Direct seeding on Mar. 31 and transplanting of 9 months old seedling had the highest CGRs. LAI was positively correlated with CGR, and CGR had the highest value as $6.74\g/m^2/day$ when LAI was 1.97. RGR and NAR increased as mean temperature was increased and showed the highest value around . The highest net production of leaf and petiole was obtained at 20 and$23^{\circ}C$, respectively.

Screen of a Novel Yeast for Brewing of Gugija Leaf Makgeolli and Optimal Alcohol Fermentation Condition (구기자 잎 막걸리 제조용 효모의 선발 및 최적 알코올 발효조건)

  • The goal of this study was to screen a useful alcohol fermentative yeast for Gugija leaf makgeolli (Gl makgeolli) brewing and establish its optimal fermentation condition. Gugija leaves with various alcohol fermentative yeasts were added into the mixture of cooked non-glutinous rice and koji, and then fermented at $25^{\circ}C$ for 7 days. Among several Gl makgeolli, ethanol contents was the highest in Gl makgeolli made by S. cerevisiae F-1. Therefore, we selected S. cerevisiae F-1 as suitable yeast for brewing of Gl makgeolli. Gl makgelli with the best total acceptability and high antihypertensive action was obtained when cooked non-glutinous rice (120 g), boiled D.W (100 mL) and JJ koji (60.5 g/300 sp) were mixed and fermented for 2 days at $30^{\circ}C$ with S. cerevisiae F-1 (5%), and added again cooked non-glutinous rice (150 g), glutinous rice (100 g), D.W (500 mL) and Gugija leave (0.1%/cooked rice) and further fermented for 5 days at $25^{\circ}C$.

Response of Colletotrichum sup. Causing Red Pepper Anthracnose to Protective and Ergosterol Biosynthesis-inhibiting Fungicides (보호용 살균제와 ergosterol 생합성 저해 살균제에 대한 고추 탄저병균의 약제 반응)

  • In 1999 and 2002, 130 and 258 isolates of Colletotrichum spp. causing red pepper anthracnose were obtained from infected red pepper fruits, respectively. Their responses to 4 protective and 3 ergosterol biosynthesis-inhibiting(EBI) fungicides were investigated by observing their mycelial growth on PDA incorporated with different concentrations of each fungicide. The Colletotrichum isolates obtained in 1999 showed higher $EC_{50}$ values than those isolated in 2002 against three protective fungicides such as dithianon, chlorothalonil, and propineb, whereas the response was reversed toward other protective fungicide, iminoctadine. On the other hand, the isolates of year 1999 were more resistant against three EBI fungicides such as tebuconazole, hexaconazole, and prochloraz than those of year 2002; the $EC_{50}$ values of the former were 1.2-4.4 times higher than those of the latter, The responses of the Colletotrichum isolates toward protective and EBI fungicides were fluctuated according to regions, where the infected fruits were collected. On the other hand, the resis tance of Colletotrichum isolates to protective fungicides increased during monitoring from July to September, However, their responses towards EBI fungicides were not changed.

Efficacy of a petroleum spray oil for the control of citrus pests, spirea aphid (Aphis citricola) and two scales (lcerya purchasi and Planococcus cryptus) in Jeju island (감귤의 조팝나무 진딧물 및 깍지벌레류에 대한 Petroleum Spray Oil의 방제효과)

  • The efficacy of petroleum spray oil (PSO; D-C Tron $Plus^{(R)}$) against spirea aphid (Aphis citricola) and two scales (lcerya purchasi and Planococcus cryptus) on citrus was tested in Jeju, Korea. The control value of 0.33% PSO against spirea aphid was over 90% at 3 and 6 days after treatment (DAT), and then decreased to about 80% at 9 and 14 DAT. Spraying of PSO (0.33, 0.66, 1%) against cottony-cushion scale showed a much lower control value (less than 50%) during the investigation period compared to that of the conventional pesticide (Methion). When used against tile scale, Planococcus cryptus, the control value of 1% PSO was 95%, but that of 0.33% and 0.66% PSO only ranged from 50 to 80%, lower than the conventional pesticide. The results of this study, as with a previous study, suggest that spraying of 0.33% and 0.5% PSO not only controls the spirea aphid, but also reduces the density of two scales (lcerya purchasi and Planococcus cryptus) on citrus tree in Jeju, without phytotoxic damage.
