  • Objectives: This study was performed to provide a reference base to establish foundation for education about dental hygienist-related medical law and introduction of the system. Methods: A survey was conducted on 210 dental hygienists working at a dental clinic/ hospital in Jeollado. Data were analysed through chi-square test, one-way ANOVA, independent t-test, and Pearson's correlation analysis using SPSS 21.0 program. The study instruments included general characteristics of the subjects, knowledge on laws related to dental hygiene, attitude towards dental hygienist-related medical laws, level of understanding of medical related laws, and medical dispute educational hours. Results: The knowledge of dental hygienist-related medical law was high in dental hygienists aged 25 years and younger and with less than 3 years of clinical experience (p<0.05). The attitude towards the law was low in age of younger than 25 years, a three year college degree, a job position as a staff member, more than 5 years of work experience at present work place, and less than 3 years of clinical experience (p<0.05). Understanding of medical related laws was high in clinical staff members and with less than 3 years of clinical experience (p<0.05). Educational needs for medical dispute prevention was high in a job position as a staff member, low level of attitude towards dental hygienist-related medical law, and no attainment of education on medical dispute (p<0.05). Conclusions: The above results demonstrate that education and public relations about laws related with dental hygiene practice are essential. It is imperative to establish a systematic and bureaucratic legal system to prevent dental malpractice.

The degree of health behavior practice, 62.1% answered high while 17.7% said low. Factors that influence the degree of health behavior practice were sex, interest in health and experience of watching. In addition, men practiced 1.78 times more than women, those with more interest in health practiced 3.3 times of those with no interest, and those with watching experience presented 6.1 times higher practice degree than those with no experience. It was found that old people's recognition for TV health programs was positive, and the more frequently they watch the programs, the higher their practice of health behaviors was. In addition, old people's popularity rate of TV health programs means that they have a lot of opportunities to be exposed to information provided in health programs. • Many concept of occlusion have been introduced in the past, but there isn't any generally accepted unified theory since a single occlusion theory cannot represent the natural perfection, especially considering the difference in clinical experience, the dynamic occlusion, and individual diversity in mastication pattern. NAT(Naturgemasse Aufwachstechnik)/NFR((Natur Funktionsgerechte Rekonstruktion) occlusion is not just a theory on occlusion, but a clinical occlusion that can be practically applied to clinical practice by providing dynamic occlusion adjusted to the individual mastication pattern and biomechanics. This report aims to provide a guide to a clinically biomechanical occlusion through the teamwork of both the dentist and the lab technician by introducing the NAT occlusion through following: reviewing the concept of occlusion in terms of morphology, its correlation with NAT/NFR occlusion, reviewing the limitation of conventional occlusion theories, and introducing the clinical application of NAT/NFR.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the teaching effectiveness and adequacy of practical training in nursing students. Methods: This descriptive research was conducted using a convenience sampling. The sample consisted of 619 nursing students with experience in practical training among five colleges, located in four cities. The data collection was performed using self-reported questionnaires. Research tools, developed by Kim (1996), were used to measure the effectiveness of clinical instructors and the adequacy of practical training developed by researchers. The data was analyzed using SPSS 20.0. Results: The average of teaching effectiveness was 3.43 (out of 5) and adequacy of practical training was 3.33 (out of 5). Teaching effectiveness and adequacy of practical training showed a significant positive correlation (r=.74, p<.001). Teaching effectiveness and each sub-area: adequacy of practical training, practical contents (r=.59, p<.001), practical attitude (r=.45, p<.001), practical instructor (r=.62, p<.001), practical environment (r=.46, p<.001), and practical evaluation (r=.64, p<.001), revealed a significant positive correlation. Conclusion: Nursing students prefer the actual training from professors who are more professional and clinical experienced. Professors presenting the theory lectures should also be aware of clinical practice so that education can be more professional and effective in terms of clinical practice.

Satisfaction level of the program and confidence in nursing practice were measured to evaluate it. Result: Participants were 45 years old, had 6 years' clinical experience, and had 14 inactive career years on average. The program included basic and core education courses, and a clinical course. The participants were satisfied with its management, and 80.3 percent of them agreed with the need for the program. Also, clinical sites and instructors in the clinical course were satisfactory. Participants gained high confidence in nursing practice skills. Conclusion: The study showed the goal of the program was accomplished by motivating inactive nurses for re-entry to the work force and enhancing capability in duty. The program needs standardizing, and field adaptability should be strengthened through clinical practice. An evaluation tool for the program has to be developed.
