The research subjects were 62 third graders of S elementary school located in Incheon. They were divided into the experimental group of 33 students and the comparative group of 29 students. The experimental group was provided the educational program with the experience-based ecology-environmental STEAM education. The comparative group was provided the theoretical and ecological self activity program based on the textbook. The results of this study can be summarized as follows; First, the experience-based ecology-environmental STEAM education had a meaningful effect on improvement of ecological sensitivity. Second, we found that access to the ecological environment education is important in all subjects, not in education that is biased toward. Third, in ecological environment education, experience-oriented education methods are more meaningful than indirect experiences trapped in textbooks. Fourth, ecological environment education can contribute to the improvement of ecological sensitivity as well as the intellectual aspect of ecology and environmental science. In conclusion, it was found that the ecological environment program should be conducted with activities of experience.

They were assigned into 2 groups: The experimental group of 62 and the control group of 60. The experience based education program consisted of 5 sessions with 40 minute length. For control group, no treatment was provided during the period. Post-tests were conducted just after the following menstrual period for both experimental and control groups. The data was analyzed using SPSS WIN 12.0 program. The t-tests were used to answer the research questions. Results: There were significant differences in menstrual attitude and menstrual discomfort between experimental and control groups, The students who participated in the program reported more positive attitude to the menstruation and less discomfort during menstrual period than the students who did not participate in the program. Conclusions: Experience based education had a positive influence on menstrual attitude and menstrual discomfort among female elementary students. • BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: This research was conducted to compare lecture- and experience-based methods of nutritional education as well as provide fundamental data for developing an effective nutritional education program in elementary schools. SUBJECTS/METHODS: A total of 110 students in three elementary schools in Jeollanam-do were recruited and randomly distributed in lecture- and experience-based groups. The effects of education on students' dietary knowledge, dietary behaviors, and dietary habits were analyzed using a pre/post-test. RESULTS: Lecture- and experience-based methods did not significantly alter total scores for dietary knowledge in any group, although lecture-based method led to improvement for some detailed questions. In the experience-based group, subjects showed significant alteration of dietary behaviors, whereas lecture-based method showed alteration of dietary habits. CONCLUSIONS: These outcomes suggest that lecture- and experience-based methods led to differential improvement of students' dietary habits, behaviors, and knowledge. To obtain better nutritional education results, both lectures and experiential activities need to be considered.

  • This study aimed to develop a program that can be linked to gardening education activities in elementary students' curriculums and creative experience learning courses, and to apply the developed program to 6th graders in an elementary school located in Seoul. Research was conducted in a large category called biophilia, which named the instinct of human nature and nature throughout the research. The curriculum revised in 2015 was selected for the purpose of the garden education program based on the objectives and contents of the unit, and for the purpose of the class. In the process of developing and implementing the program, experience properties and elements were divided into direct and indirect experience of nature, including shapes and forms found in nature, air, water, plants, weather, animals, and natural materials. The results showed that the biophilic horticultural education program was effective in promoting students' multi senses. In the case of the experimental group, all the multi-sensory areas showed statistically significant differences, especially in the area of environmental literacy, environmental effect and emotional balance including plant cultivation knowledge. There was a relatively smaller difference in the dietary effect area than other areas because of no directional dietary program was included in the developed program. As a result, first, it is expected that the data can be utilized on site as a program or place of activity for students in upper grades. Second, it will be necessary to develop a more diverse program using other biophilic elements that were not covered in this study in order to maximize the effects of biophilic education.

  • This study developed an experience-based economic education program and examined its effects on young children's economic concepts and purchasing behavior. Subjects were 60 5-year-old kindergarteners assigned to an experimental or a control group. Instruments for pre- and post-tests were the Economic Concept Task (Laney, 1995) and the Purchasing Behavior Task (Jang, 2004). Experimental group children participated in the economic education program for 5 weeks; control group children listened to economic stories. Differences between pre- and post-test in the experimental group showed that the economic education program was effective in development of concepts of scarcity, opportunity cost, resource/production, goods/services, and complements/substitutes. Children's purchasing behavior changed partially after application of the program.
