A survey analysis of home video games was carried out for 1,018 elementary school children. Children responded to a questionnaire consisting of sociodemographic variables, degree of game participation(frequency and mean time), control behavior(eg. resting during games, lightening interior), and physical symptoms(eg. eyestrain, headache, trembling, paralyses) during and/or after playing games. Statistical analysis was done by frequency, percentile, and chitest. The results showed that many children enjoyed video games frequently and played continually, that few children did control behavior during games. Main variables related to degree of game playing and control behavior were sex, game experience, parent's education, and mother's activity. In particular, the results implied that the level of physical symptoms during and/or after game differed by lighting factors.

The evolution of technology has lead gaming playable in augmented reality and more games are developed only for augmented reality. There are mainly no supportive reasons for game designed in non-augmented reality and transforms to augmented reality. Genre of game played in augmented reality is always one of the defined game genres. In this paper, transformation process and effects of mobile games to augmented reality is discussed. Augmented reality game is recommended for mobile devices due to its portability. Modification for mobile games transformation including way of game rendering, game controlling, camera view controlling and game environment design are discussed. User experience is affected after the game transformed to augmented reality because of the differences in game controlling. The presence of game in real world is increased due to the usage of actual view in game playing.
Digital Game design with educational purposes and User Experience measurement via game analytics has been extensively covered in literature, however non-digital games such as tabletops in education and its corresponding educational impact have limited research. In this paper, we propose a guideline to create non-digital educational games from scratch and evaluate them based on the know-how of developers and the investigation of scholars who have studied the engagement factors related to the digital games and applied their findings to non-digital games. Along with the guideline we provide an actual implementation, a game called HXGN_766, meant to serve as scaffolding of computational thinking and rudimentary Python programing concepts. We believe both, guideline and game, can be a useful reference for those interested on game design, educational content design, game quality control check, and unplugged computer science activities. This is the first in a series of papers where the game design concept, the evaluation methodology and the game itself will be presented with more detail.

With the development of VR technology, the visual immersion of VR games has been greatly enhanced nowadays. There has been an issue that has been troubling players in previous VR games, which is motion sickness. Therefore, VR games have been limited in terms of game mechanics, game duration, and game scale, greatly reducing the immersive experience of visual immersion. However, <Half-Life: Alyx> is different from previous VR games in that players can actually perform spatial displacement in the game scene, rather than being fixed in one place for 360-degree observation and interaction. At the same time, compared to traditional games, VR games no longer need to rely on screens, and the complete visual immersion enhances the fun and playability of the game. This research focuses on the VR game <Half-Life: Alyx> to explore its immersive factors in terms of visual perception. Through in-depth analysis of elements such as color, texture mapping, lighting, etc. in VR games, it was found that the game creates a strong sense of visual immersion in these aspects. Through analysis, it is helpful to gain a deeper understanding of the factors that contribute to visual immersion in VR games, which has certain reference value for game developers and related professionals.
This study examined the effects of short and long term playing of video gamer on children's visual parallel processing. All of the 64 fourth grade subjects were above average in IQ. They were classified into high and low video game users. Instruments were a visual parallel processing task consisting of imagery integration items, computers, and the arcade video game, Pac-Man. Subjects were pre-tested with a visual parallel processing task. After one week, the experimental group played video games for 15 minutes, but the control group didn't play. Immediately following this, all children were post-tested by the same task used on the pretest. The data was analyzed by ANCOVA and repeated measures ANOVA. The results showed that relaying short-term video games improved visual parallel processing and that long term experience with video games also affected visual parallel processing. there were no differences between high and low users in visual parallel processing after playing short term video games.
Serious game played with a computer in accordance with specific rules, that uses entertainment to further government or corporate training, education, health, public policy, and strategic communication objectives. The main goal of a serious game is usually to train or educate users while giving them an enjoyable experience. Serous games are video games with serious purposes such as teaching or training and whose principal aim is education. The major characteristics of serious games involve pedagogy which are all of the activities that educate, train, or instruct the player. Other characteristics of serious games are that they use entertainment principles, creativity and technology to build games that carry out serious purposes. This study is to introduce a serious game for the military training and to describe the elements of game design for developing it.
