  • Conventionally design for multi-stage cold forging depends on the designer's experience and decision-making. Due to such non-deterministic nature of the process sequence design, a flexible inference engine is needed for process design expert system. In this study, A* searching algorithm was introduced to arrive at the vetter process sequence design considering the number of forming stages and levels of effective strain, effective stress, and forming load during the porcess. In order to optimize the process sequence in producing the final part, cost function was defined and minimized using the proposed A* searching algorithm. For verification of the designed forming sequences, forming experiments and finite element analyses were carried out in the present investigation. The developed expert system using A* searching algorithm can produce a flexible design system based on changes in the number of forming stages and weights.

  • There are lots of combined battlefield elements which complete the war. It looks problematic when collecting and analyzing these elements and then predicting the situation of war. Commander's experience and military power assessment have widely been used to come up with these problems, then simulated combat training program recently supplements the war-game models through recording real-time simulated combat data. Nevertheless, there are challenges to assess winning factors of combat. In this paper, we characterize the combat element (ce) by clustering simulated combat data, and then suggest multi-layered artificial neural network (ANN) model, which can comprehend non-linear, cross-connected effects among ces to assess mission completion degree (MCD). Through our ANN model, we have the chance of analyzing and predicting winning factors. Experimental results show that our ANN model can explain MCDs through networking ces which overperform multiple linear regression model. Moreover, sensitivity analysis of ces will be the basis of predicting combat situation.

  • The purpose of this study is looking for the support policies and factors to stimulate the quality innovation movement. Kano's model proposed a two-dimensional model on quality based on customer perception and experience. And Timko developed the customer satisfaction coefficient for overcome the weak points of Kano's model. In this paper, new approach framework is proposed by integrated Kano's model and Timko's customer satisfaction coefficient. And it applied to confirm the various factors which was offered by government and major company's policies for small and medium enterprises.

  • The main concept of this thesis is to research about how to express the interface element of the virtual museum on tile cyber space and how to evaluate its organization. In addition, the basis of this thesis is to help people build their efficient spaces on the current virtual museum. My understanding about the interface element and its structural evaluation is grounded on Usability evaluation and Syntax thesis. For the survey, I utilize two different methods. One is regular questionnaire; the other is heuristic evaluation which is derived from empirical study and practical experience. The survey is mainly composed of contents, design, usability and overall impression. The main concept of this research is to establish the initial foundation of the virtual museum on cyber space by suggesting an objective evolutional norm including esthetic orientation.

  • The aim of this study is to forecast characteristics of dynamic expression in the architecture design by analyzing characteristics and trends in dynamic expressions of the architecture classified by period. The various architectural trends, even in the transition of new paradigm after collapse of the CIAM, consistently expresses dynamics of architecture. In this study, it regards the inherent characteristics of the architecture design as expression of space organization and modelling and it views dynamic expression is important element of the architecture design. The case study shows that the architecture of passed 50 years, the key element of the dynamic expressions are expression of new technology and expression of one's experience. Also, it shows that the dynamic expressions of architecture in 1990's are expression of new technology which consists of lightness, fragmentation, and symbolism that reflects the trend of arts in 1990's.

  • This paper presents a study on heat transfer and residual distortion analysis of laser welded EDFA(Erbium Doped Fiber Amplifier) LD(Laser Diode) Pump using the finite element method. In the production process of LD Pump in light-wave communication system, ferrule and saddle are welded by Nd-YAG laser. These parts experience thermal and mechanical effect during heating and cooling cycle with the laser welding. Thus distortion happens in the laser-welded packaging, and it makes an error in detecting the light signal translate through optical fiber in LD Pump. The amount of final displacement produced by the laser welding is predicted using the finite element method. And the optimal shape of saddle is proposed with the results of numerical analyses to minimize the displacement.

  • Structural boundary condition is very important as a part of a structural system because it determines the dynamic characteristics of the structure. It is often to experience that experimental measurements of structural dynamic characteristics are somewhat different from the analytical predictions in which idealized boundary conditions are usually assumed. However, real structural boundary conditions are not so ideal; not perfectly clamped, for instance. Thus this paper introduces a new method to determine the non-ideal structural boundary conditions in the frequency domain. In this method, structural boundary conditions are modeled by both extensional (vertical) and torsional elastic springs. The effective springs are then determined from experimental FRFs (frequency response functions) by using the spectral element method (SEM). For a cantilevered beam experiments are conducted to determine the real boundary conditions in terms of effective springs. Dynamic characteristics (analytically predicted) based on identified boundary conditions are found to be much closer to experimental measurements when compared with those based on ideal boundary conditions.

  • A capacitor discharge impulse magnetizer is used to produce a high current pulse of short duration in a magnetizing fixture for magnets of the various shapes. The problem of designing custom fixtures for magnetization has often been considered more of conventional experience than a scientific theory. Therefore, the design of magnetizingfixture has until recently been a "cut and try" process. It was common to literally blow up one or more fixtures beforeachieving the desired results. Finite element CAD package allow the design of such a fixture. Since magnetizing fixtures come in a variety of sizes and shapes, there is usually no simple analysis method that can be used to estimate the field characteristics of the fixtures. Instead, one typically uses finite element analysis. FEA program MAXWELL is the primary tool used here. The purpose of this study was a examine both theoretically and experimentally the field characteristics inside the fixture. Independent of sizes and shapes of magnetizing fixtures, the desired magnetic field can be obtained with resonable predictability. The experimental results have been achieved using a 1000[V], 22.4[KJ] capacitor discharge magnetizer and iron-core fixtures.

  • In recent retail environments, multichannel customer management increasingly has been considered a key element of successful CRM. Although customer's multichannel usage is believed to be potential cause of customer loyalty, the theoretical explanation about this causal relationship still remains unexamined and unanswered. In this paper, the authors present a systematic framework to test the postulated "multichannel usage-shopping experience-customer satisfaction" chain. To this end, we examine that the two core components of shopping experience(convenience and enjoyment) is a mediator of the direct causality of multichannel usage(based on both information search and product purchase stage) on customer satisfaction. Moreover, the authors examine that two types of customer-firm relationship characteristics(relationship age and purchase frequency) is a moderator of the multichannel usage-shopping experience relationship. Using integrating data with survey and customer database of multichannel retail company, the authors empirically test and substantiate shopping experience's mediating role in the multichannel usage-customer satisfaction relationship and customer-firm relationship characteristics' moderating role in the multichannel usage-customer experience relationship. These results suggest that multichannel retailers should deliver favorable shopping experience for building customer satisfaction and differentiate shopping experience according to customer-firm relationship characteristics.

  • Welding distortions of large steel structures had mainly been estimated with some simplified formula obtained by lots of experience and numerical analyses for small steel structures. However, the large structures would have different characteristics of distortion with welding because of their own stiffness coming from the size itself. Therefore, in order to find some measures for preventing welding distortion of large structure, it is requite in advance to precisely analysis thermal stress and distortion during welding of the structure. Numerical analysis for larger structure has been known to take large amount of calculation time and have a poor convergency problem during the thermo-elasto-plastic calculation. In this study, a hybrid method is proposed to analysis the thermal stress and distortion of a large steel plate with the finite element analysis by incorporating with temperature distribution of the plate calculated by an analytical solution. The proposed method revealed that the thermo-mechanical analysis for welding of the large structure could be performed with a good convergence and produced precise results with much reduced time consumption.
