  • Every year governments spend their national budget on public health in order to reduce financial burden of individuals on health. Although it has been widely believed that the increase of public expenditure on health decreases private health expenditure, it has not been proved by analysis with real data. For better understanding, we conducted an empirical study on the real data of 17 OECD countries-Australia, Austria, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Japan, Korea, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, the United Kingdom, and the United States. The panel Granger-causality test is used to verify the cause-and-effect relationship between the two expenditures. As a result, public expenditure on health has a 3 to 4 year-lagged negative effect on private health expenditure in the cases of the 16 countries except for the United States.

For construction, maintenance, management of military power, the adequate expenditure is required but it is difficult to increase blindly owing to the lack of resources. There are security threats and economic conditions in determining of military expenditure. Republic of Korea has been more influenced by economic conditions than by security threats since 1990s In this paper, we analysed relation between real military expenditure and real GDP through regression analysis.

  • This study analyzed the changes in household consumption expenditure of retired households using Korean panel data. We compared the pre and post retirement-consumption levels in different consumption categories using panel data. Paired t-test showed that changes in the consumption patterns before and after retirement were not significant except for the households in the third net worth quartile. Analyzing the effect of retirement on the level of household consumption expenditure, this study found that the effect of retirement was not significant in overall, although retirement had a negative effect on the level of consumption expenditure among households in the lowest net worth distribution. Understanding changes in consumption patterns of retiring households provides important information to design social security policies.

  • A large portion of total energy expenditure associated with ruminant livestock production goes towards maintenance. Approximately 55% of whole body energy use is consumed by visceral tissues (including internal organs) with the majority of this going to the liver and gastrointestinal tract. Muscle and adipose tissues consume about 27% of total body energy expenditure. Metabolic components within the viscera responsible for the majority of energy consumption include ion transport, protein turnover, substrate cycling, and urea synthesis (liver). Within muscle tissue of growing animals ion transport and protein turnover account for most of the energy expenditure. Protein synthesis consumes approximately 23% of whole body energy use and visceral tissues account for proportionally more of whole body protein synthesis than skeletal muscle. Research efforts focused on improving energetic efficiency of the tissues and metabolic mechanisms responsible for the majority of whole animal energy expenditure should provide information leading to more efficient production of an edible product.

The Result of Factor Analysis revealed that the lifestyle of urban housewives were composed by four different traits. 1) self-improvement and rational trait 2) consumption-oriented convenience seeking trait 3) traditional-conservation trait 4) money-oriented variety seeking trait. Based on the Multiple regression analysis the analysis of the relative influence of variables which were associated with the expenditure of each item showed that influential variables for each item were different but economic variables(e, g , income saving, property etc) affected on most of expenditure. Socio-economic variables were more influential than lifestyle variables for every item. • We aim to confirm empirically that a corporate's R&D expenditure effect positively on its value. As a result of the regression analysis on financial statements of KSE and KOSDAQ enterprises, the sum of R&D expenditure effects positively on corporate value. Moreover, we have the result that R&D expenditure appropriated as cost has more effect on corporate value than the expenditure appropriated as asset.
